Having made his long-awaited comeback against QPR on Saturday, Jack Wilshere has praised the club’s medical staff for their help during his injury absence.
A stress fracture of the heel and a knee injury robbed him of 12 months+ of his career, but Wilshere was keen to give them, amongst others, props for their hard work during his recuperation.
“I have to thank all the medical staff, Declan Lynch (1st team physio) and Colin Lewin,” he said. “When you go to the training ground day after day there’s times when you don’t want to do it, especially when you see all the boys go out to training. But it’s great now to be back and hopefully I can push on from here.
“Declan came in during June when I was really down and he helped me. Things like that – it wasn’t just his rehab, it was his attitude as well, he helped pick me up.”
The midfielder was also quick to note the changes in team personnel. A lot can happen very quickly in football when he last played for us the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri were mainstays in the team, now they’ve been replaced by new players but Wilshere is confident he’ll click with them soon.
“Last time I played a Premier League game, I was playing with Fabregas, Nasri and Song. They’ve all moved on and so it’s like coming into a new team.
“Mikel Arteta is a leader both on the pitch and off the pitch and he talked me through the game and I can only thank the players for helping me come through slowly and helping me do what I wanted to do.
“It’s a dream for any midfielder to link up with him (Cazorla). Even the small things, like the pace of his passes, he just understands you and it’s good to play with.”
Although he says he’s ready to play in tomorrow night’s Capital One Cup game if needed, it’s unlikely he’ll be selected with the manager ready to use him at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The re-introduction certainly won’t be frenetic, but it’s good to have him back.

Arteta is good example to follow for young guys like Wilshere, Coq and Ramsey. certainly better than Nasri.
Arteta just oozes leadership qualities. If he’d joined us earlier he would be captain now without a shadow of a doubt
Cazorla was first and now Wilshere have both reserved praise for Arteta. He is obviously a great guy, A true profession. Also he seems to have helped Wilshere in the grooming department.

I’m not sure I’m entirely comfortable with this ‘best midfield in the league’ talk. They’ve played 63 minutes together you’ve got to give them time before we can judge them properly. I think we’re lucky to have 3 such talented players but if one gets another injury its back to square one! Our defence is statistically the best , so no need for big guys it seems . I feel since Diaby got injured we’ve lacked that ‘drive’ , very few players can dribble in the middle of the park like Diaby and Wilshere , that’s why we’ve been passing sideways a lot and have become predictable. oh and Le Coq-Diaby-Ramsey/Rosicky is actually decent as a back up. starting to think we should shift Cazorla wide. He’s looking like he might struggle with the weight of responsibility. We are basically depending on him to create/do everythng. Wilshere will change that. But Wilshere and Rosicky together will be insane. Both like to drive at the opposition. Crazzzyyy
ARSENAL, I agree with you, when we have Diaby or Rosicky he could move Cazorla to the right. But, there is a slight problem here!!!!!!. Where is he going to play his pet project that is Ramsey?. I doubt anyone in a sane footballing world would have any bad words for ARTETA. He just oozes class. I mean I love him. Can we please work on some kind of youthful drug to keep him in our midfield forever……….okay maybe I love him a bit too much, still……

It must have been a strange experience coming back to a team which has changed so much but I honestly think Jack is with us for the long haul. He didn’t mind because he knows he’s going to have to play alongside many different players at his time with arsenal. What a leg-end

Arteta should be club captain. As Frog points out, at the moment Vermaelen’s current form doesn’t justify a starting position for him in the first team. Kos and BFG should be our number-one centre-back pairing. On other Arsenal sites there seems to be a lot of negativity about the game on Saturday at Old Trafford. Agree with the first paragraph of your comment completely. However, “Man United’s defending will cost them the League” – our defending isn’t too great either. The game on October 27th against QPR (a fairly poor Premier League team in all honesty) was our first clean sheet since the game away at Liverpool on September 2nd. We have the best defence (goals conceded) in the league at the moment but it’s losing games 1-0 that’s killing us.

I was quiet impressed with Jack Wilshere’s sleek touches and his 100% pass rate! Give him 2 seasons I bet Barca or the likes will come begging for his signature!!! He is that kind of a player, and if he remains with us he will sooner or later have a statue outside the Emirates
United is awful in the middle, where we are now quite strong.
Also, Rafael is a rather shit fullback, who gets caught going forward too often. United have their own problems.
These are good players but Wenger is slowly ruining them with his stupid system. Arteta is playing out of position, he should be scoring goals and creating chances but is wasted as a DM. I think he will also get tired playing in this demanding position as the season goes on – making him prone to injury or a dip in form.
