Emmanuel Frimpong is set for a loan spell with Charlton, with a view to a permanent move.
The Ghanain midfielder was strongly linked with Wolves, where he spent some time last season before suffering another serious knee injury, but it appears that move fell through during the week.
Although the Wolves manager said the club were still open to a loan had he not joined another club by then it seems Charlton have jumped to the top of the queue.
It is expected that Frimpong will seal the move on Monday and, should he impress, could move to The Valley on a permanent basis.
Under manager Chris Powell the Addicks were promoted to the Championship after winning League 1 and currently sit mid-table. Frimpong’s last appearance for Arsenal was in the 7-5 thriller against Reading in the Capital One Cup and although highly rated by Arsene Wenger, it seems the two knee injuries have robbed him of a chance to establish himself at Arsenal.

I don’t think Frimpong would ever want a permanent move, but perhaps he isn’t quite good enough for Arsenal. I would put Le Coq firmly ahead of him in the midfield hierarchy now. However there is no other player in the squad who really does what Frimpong does, so if he does move it will be interesting to see if we buy a direct replacement or not.

Maybe ‘a view to a permanent move’ simply means a buyout figure in the loan agreement mate? Calm down. I assume blogs wrote that because he had information that the loan was likely to include such a clause, not because he just doesn’t like frimpong.

He is along way down the line but i would rather us sort out what the hell is going on with crocks diaby and rosicky (and gibbs) how long are we going to carry this lot for? how many matches do they have under their belt collectively over the last few years?
Sell Diaby next year while his stock may be decent, and really hone up Frimpong in the mean time. His potential is there, he’s passionate for AFC, and I think we need a rough-houser (maybe a matured one, but still…)
