*I felt like Vermaelen scored an own goal last night against Schalke but it wasn’t recorded that way in any of the stat books I can find.

a head explosion of fact x numbers

ARSENAL

Nowadays, our players are satisfied with draws against teams like Schalke 04. Sad stuff.
Sombody explain how this has happened to my club? :'(

MATT

Don Vito better than Szcz! Who knew?

Hopefully the competition between the pair may be good and we get a Given/Harper situation.

Dr Baptiste

You mean the back up keeper never playing, getting in the first team after the first choice has been sold, then being replaced with a youngster and finally being sent on loan to Brighton? That sort of competition?

Munya

No the kind of competition manchester united have for de gea which will likely push him to fight to become better than he thinks he can be. Have some fucking faith!

Dr Baptiste

It was a joke, calm down. Harper is the stereotypical backup who it seems will always be a backup and nothing more

gooner for life

I thinks the comparison stats between Vito and Szcz dont tell the whole story. well stats never do but again Szcz was in a team that had a very bad deffence last season, as compared to our much improved one this season. so the saves may not be from the same situations. I dont think Mannone should be considered better than Szcz based on these alone. not to take anything from Mannone he’s been excelent in recent games, but just sayin.

flying dutchmen

Also,

Szczesny dominates his area around the goals whereas vito likes to stay in is goals (which sometimes results in headers for the opponents..)

Just sayin

austingooner

I also think Mannone’s had a pretty shaky defense in front of him. Not saying Mannone is better, but I think they offer two completely different styles of goalkeeping. Yeah, Szsz can be more authoritative, but I saw Mannone make a couple huge runs to grab the ball right off a striker’s foot. (And he did that without fouling the player, which Szsz tended to do last season.) Also felt Szsz could be a bit cocky, which got him in trouble on the pitch at times. Like ’em both.

Zia

Good Day blogs! Do you think the sample size for the data you used in comparing Cheezers vs. Don Vito’s stats may lead to a skewed result?

Le sausage

I thought it would have gone as an own goal as well. He’s been really below par of late, not the same old solid beast we signed 3 years ago. I don’t know whether it’s better to put up with his poor performances and show faith or drop him to send a message… I’m sure that won’t be great for confidence though.

Kerl

Sagna I bet won 70% of those aerial balls. I wonder why there was even a debate on whether he should come directly into the team or still keep Jenko for a while. This guy is a beast.

weedwacker

I thought he may not have been fully fit. Obviously I’m wrong he brings a little bit extra to the team. Glad he’s back. Big up to Jenkinson though he is outstanding.

Kerl

Would you look at that! 71%…. and I had him at 70%……close that!. It’s not that jenks is an incapable RB {infact he’s good, he’s really good!} but Sagna just has that fighter instinct in him Makes him more reliable and gives him the that, edge over jenko.

Moreover, he offfers Mannone more options when he kicks his trademark long balls. He can now target Sagna and not only Giroud as he’s been fond of.
Glad Sagna is back. So glad.

Dr Baptiste

I get the feeling that it wasn’t recorded as an own goal as it was going in anyway. I’m probably wrong but it might be like an LBW decision.

MATT

I just meant having a very good goalkeeper with a pretty good understudy for a decade. Fingers crossed Szcz will be our number 1 for a while.

austingooner

I’m happy with Mannone providing Wenger with some real goalkeeping options. Mannone looks very confident out there. May the best goalkeeper prevail.

Martin

I really am starting to think a lot of Arsenal’s recent problems stem from Diaby’s injury. Bar that one game against West Ham, shit has really hit the fan since he hobbled off against Chelsea. He was the glue in our midfield, he offered the much fabled physical presence, he dribbled (more often than not, dribbled very well) and his touch in general is a class above most players in the league. Wilshere/Ramsey/Coquelin can’t offer what Diaby does in midfield. In fact, none of our other midfielders can. While some can be very aggressive, they’re just not built to be… Read more »

goonorhea

Diaby is important, but relying on an injury prone (understatement) player to get the team back on track isn’t too smart. The shots on goal is pretty low, and no one player is going to change that. The whole team needs to wake the fuck up.

Martin

I can completely agree with you. I find it very unsettling that there’s only one of Diaby’s type of midfielder in the first team squad. And it’s especially unsettling when the role is so important to how the team functions! The problems in attack stem from how the team is struggling with getting the ball from the back four to the front three. Having Gibbs back fit would really help with that (he’s the only left back in the first team who has the pace to overlap the front players). At the moment the team is really unbalanced; there’s a… Read more »

GO AND SIGN YAYA fucking TOURE. People keep talking about Diaby when there’s a Yaya Toure out there. FFS, why can’t we sign world class players anymore? Why do we only sell them?

Saurabh

What you dont realize is that players like Yaya fucking Toure are very rare. That is probably the reason Wenger so badly wants Diaby to click at Arsenal. He sees a potential there for new Viera and he is not wrong.

Remember the invincibles. Because we aren't good anymore

Yaya Toure would be the perfect player for Arsenal.
Too bad we no longer carry the ability to attract players like him

Saurabh

The ease with which we handled stoke and liverpool is a testament to Diaby’s importance in our midfield. With him there, Cazorla had someone to share the creative burden and as a result he linked up more effectively up the field with Podolski. The balance was so much better with him there. Hope he comes back soon and comes back for good this time.

austingooner

Hoping Jack — despite his size — can do something similar for us. I like the Cazorla, Arteta, Wilshere combo in the midfield, but think we need to get the three rested soon, as they’re all getting worn down.

Aamir

100-percent chance we will still finish above Spurs in the league
Pissed off- How I felt when Piers Fucking motherfucker Morgan said “Harry Redknapp could do a job for Arsenal.”
If there wasn’t enough proof already, this realllllllllllly shows what a stupid deluded twat Piers Morgan is.

the only sam is nelson

i’d speculate that he’ll be going to jail for phone hacking soon, there’s no twitter in prison. at least i fucking hope not.

whatthefuckk??

Big congratulations to the hoops. What a night in Glasgow for bench warmers Song and Cesc
