Walcott returns for Everton trip

Theo Walcott is back in the Arsenal squad for tomorrow night’s trip to Goodison Park.

The England international has missed the last two games having picked up a shoulder injury against Sp*rs, but will make the Everton game and is likely to start ahead of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on the right hand side.

Other than that there are no further injuries from the Villa game and the manager confirmed that Tomas Rosicky is back in full training having missed the entire season thus far after an Achilles problem ruled him out of the European Championships last summer.

It remains to be seen if he’ll be used at this early stage but if he’s in full training he may well find himself on the bench for tomorrow.

Wenger is aware that Everton are a team which will present a real threat to his team, suggesting they’ll be a contender for a top four position, and he played down speculation regarding Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, saying, “He’s not more on the list than anybody else.”

Yes! Run them over walcott, just like you’re going to run down your contract!………..ah!

Strikerly Striker

“He is not more on the list like anybody else” Classic Arsene!. Trying to remember what he said when the news of Carzola broke out last summer.

Nevertheless, an experience striker to beef up our frontline will be most appreciated. We need more options up front!!!

ETID

Have to say im more concerned about the defensive side of our game. when your 8 attacking players (cazorla walcott podolski giroyd chamberlain arshavin gervinho chamakh) already have 36 goals between them and 4 of those players have started 15 matches between them then you can clearly see that ot is the defensive side of our game that is troubled. By defensive i include all 7 positions (the back 4 keeper and both holding mids) the first choice 7 are fine and you can add into that jenkinson and kos. its when you start adding djourou squillaci santos mannone fabianski… Read more »

I disagree, we’ve had a string of games where we have managed very few chances, we’ve got plenty of players, but their not working out. Besides, walcott is probably gone in January and we are already short on the wings since Gervinho is Gervinho, Podolski can only play 70 minutes and looks bored/tired most of the time, Ox is not ready, Ramsey not a winger, Arshavin/Chamakh already out the door, Cazorla could play wide, but then we would need to clone him. In fact, we should play left wing -Caz, right wing -Caz, attacking midfield -Caz. surprised there is no… Read more »

About time really

PGunner

If we have a fit and firing (touches wooden desk) Rosicky back for the remainder of the season that will massively take the strain off of Cazorla and Wilshere and to a degree Arteta. Much needed. Theo has been playing well, if he keeps it up til Christmas I’d be happy if a compromise of somewhere between 75-100k is reached for his deal. If he really enjoys playing for The Arsenal and we genuinely want to keep him then get the contract signed people!

Good day t’you all.

Mikkey3D

I agree, if Rosicky finds his last year form he will be a great addition to the team, and particularly as a 75 min replacement to Cazorla/Wilshere/Arteta but it should not serve as an excuse for not buying an additional midfielder, and the sooner the better.

Only1Arsenal

A match fit Diaby would go a long way too.

Mate Kiddleton

Would love to see Rosicky play alongside Cazorla – these two could really work up some magic in tandem

M5

Theo fit for Everton but not for next years calander panic..

As for Zaha hmm don’t think he’s gonna win us fourth place on his own we dont need speculation we need to speculate

Gandalf

Good news, hoping Rosicky is ready for a cameo! Long time no seen.

Redcore

Lots of smoke around the Zaha link. Lets hope TW gets sensible and signs on. Or we would have ended up polishing one more rough stone for some one else’s benefit.

Roger

If Rosicky gets to his best on the right wing, it might tempt wenger to release Theo.

Insight

Rosicky is not a winger. If Rosicky is our answer for Theo, then we’re in trouble with our depth.

AGunner

I’m sure no ones thinking that!

GoonersofNavarone

Honestly, Zaha doesn’t look like a Wenger buy to me. Too fancy, less technique, overpriced and overrated.

GoonersofNavarone

It’s so frustrating having to watch Rosicky and Diaby on the bench. On their day, they can beat the best in the world in terms of class.

GoonersofNavarone

injury table I mean, not bench.

feygooner

Diaby maybe, but I think you’re overestimating Rosicky a bit.

TouchMyBerg

The Czech and Cash return!

IamsterdamGooner

I really like Walcott as a player, he’s shown several times he can finish, he can assist and not the least, can take a man on and actually beat him. If he keeps his momentum going and slottin in goals and/or given them away, he should be allowed a 90k-105k a week no? If u look at what other players make for sitting on a bench, i think the current club topscorer should get some recognition. We need to finally tie down our best players on a top salary for the long term and give them outrageous buy out clauses… Read more »

Mooro

Followed very quickly by – watch that cunt, don’t touch him Kolo, don’t touch him, don’t….ah fuck.

Harish

The sad truth is, financially we won’t be as competitive as the sugar-daddy invested and American-happilyindebt-backed top 3 until our debt is dust.

Then we’ll see the quality spending return, ala Pre-Invincibles.

I’m not mad, I get it. Do I want better footballs or to give fatter pay checks to keep our top players? Heck yeah! But I support the team, and if an individual Players hold the club at ransom and is willing to leave if they dont get more… F’ them. Or if they’re respectable about wanting to leave, may your future be filled with quality, long-lasting game.

rossi88

ROSICKY IS IMMENSE!! Exactly the player we need to get in between lines. Helping cazorla and wilshere. Last season he carried us for a little while with some top, top performances…….the carrying eventually caught up, but i wish him a speedy recovery to the form he showed hes capable of……….LANS MKVIII

rossi88

Oh and btw……Theo is not signing da ting
: .. (

Matt Jarvis' Uncle

It’s not confirmed or anything but it’s pretty obvious by now. I just hope we can replace him with a world class player.

Dick Swiveller

It was pretty obvious as soon as RvP released his ‘fuck you’ to the club. Theo was never going to stay with RvP gone, he’s another rat who smells the water rising and wants out.

D Fresh

Yo ETID
What you talkin bout Willis!!
How can you put Ramsey,Coquelin and Diaby into your list when talking about our lack of quality in depth?

gunnersftw

great, fuck the board if they don´t give him the contract he wants..

bob

Yeah the board should just let Theo fuck the club up the ass, the bastards!

Seriously though, its not like we are offering him pennies, and he has a long term future through the middle in Arsene’s mind, so his bluff has been called. Its not the board or Wenger to blame for him not signing, its him and his “people”, who has repeatedly broken off negotiations with the club.

Zack

Look, if Walcott’s agent isn’t begging, pleading, and cajoling him into declining all of Arsenal’s offers to explore Bosman options, he’s not doing his job.

That said, let’s just hope Theo ignores him and agrees to stay.

Naija Gunner

Thanks blogs.

Good to have Theo back, and please do sign that long term contract for the Arsenal, and we all gonna have a good time winning everything every time! ℓ‎=))ℓ‎

Please Wenger make amends and let’s proof some idiots wrong that we are not a selling club!

Smokin'Gunner

Rosicky is the player best suited to rotating with Wilshere. He be a great asset when fit! That said we certainly need another midfielder who can play the Arteta role as well as the advanced positions. Fellaini anyone?

Mate Kiddleton

Fellaini would be a fantastic option to have for sure

MATT

I really hope Walcott rewards the faith that Wenger has shown by signing a new contract. I think though that players and their abhorrent agents are fully aware of how to play the ‘Bosman’ game when a contract is running down. It seems scripted only to go one way. Shame.

Remember a few month ago when there were so many people calling for us to start the Ox over Walcott? (You know who you are).

R7

I’m a really big fan of rosicky (dat explains my name). Can’t wait 2 see him bck in dat midfield with carzola, wilshere nd arteta (all startn….pls Wenger!) . Maybe the boss isn’t moved much by tw14 cos he hz replacements in d ox nd ryo. With Campbell coming through, it might influence his decision 2 buy. I knw they are stil raw, bt they sure have d talent.
