Arsenal: Szczesny, Jenkinson, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Ramsey, Wilshere, Rosicky, Cazorla, Walcott, Giroud
Subs: Fabianski, Sagna, Monreal, Flamini, Zelalem, Gnabry, Sanogo
Arsenal put in a performance to silence some of the doubters with a 1-0 win over Sp*rs at the Emirates today.
There was an early blow for Arsene Wenger as Bacary Sagna was taken ill overnight and dropped to the bench with Carl Jenkinson continuing at right back with Laurent Koscielny back in the centre of the defence.
Santi Cazorla had the first effort of the game, drawing a fine save from Lloris with a free kick that was going into the top corner. From the resulting corner Giroud headed over after rising highest.
A couple of minutes later the Spaniard almost scored, again from a free kick. He drove the ball low under the wall and saw it fizz just wide of the post with Lloris well beaten.
Sp*rs found good space in wide areas, and new signing Roberto Soldado saw his goal-bound shot blocked by Per Mertesacker. The visitors had plenty of possession and pressed Arsenal high up the pitch, not allowing the home side to get any kind of rhythm going.
But in the 23rd minute we went ahead. Arsenal moved it brilliantly through midfield with Cazorla and Ramsey, it was played wide to Walcott who had a sight of goal, but he squared the ball to the onrushing Oliver Giroud who poked it home at the near post. 1-0.
Giroud then put in great defensive work, allowing Ramsey to set up Walcott for a shot from a tight angle which Lloris pushed away. At the other end Szczesny was down quickly to stop a Townsend shot at his near post, while Aaron Ramsey skewed a shot over the bar after good play from Cazorla and Walcott.
Townsend tested Szczesny again with a low shot which the Arsenal keeper did well to hold, before Arsenal suffered another blow when Jack Wilshere picked up an injury. He was replaced by new old signing Mathieu Flamini, and the teams went in level at the break.
The second half began in cagey fashion with Flamini booked for a strong, but fair, challenge on some piss-drinking wankblaster, and Ramsey penalised for a fair tackle high up the pitch in the Sp*rs half. The scummers continued to cheat around the pitch, with Kyle Walker falling over to win them a free kick in a dangerous area, but the Gunners got it clear.
Olivier Giroud saw a decent effort deflect just wide after a great Cazorla break but Sp*rs had more of the ball and upped it to try and find the equaliser. It meant they left space in behind and Giroud almost found Walcott but Lloris was out quickly again to snuff out the danger.
Sp*rs then lost Capoue to injury, replacing him and Townsend with Lamela and Sandro, before Wojciech Szczesny kept Arsenal in it. The keeper got down at full stretch to a deflected shot, followed by a massive penalty box scramble which ended up as an Arsenal goal kick.
It was almost 2-0 in the 79th minute. Giroud did brilliantly down our right hand side, he got past Sandro, pulled it back for Walcott who was again denied by a Lloris save.
Nacho Monreal replaced Tomas Rosicky as Arsene Wenger looked to shore things up, then in 5 minutes of injury time took off Walcott and replaced him with Sagna.
Sp*rs piled on the pressure in the final few minutes with all manner of goalmouth action and clearances but Arsenal were committed and strong, none more so than Giroud who put in a massive shift.
In the end we hung on and won the game.
Arsenal one, £100m nil.
North London is RED! Fuck u spuds!!!
I must say when Giroud was signed, I thought he would be a back up striker. But he has blossomed into a great player.
COYG
I’m a little jealous of Spurs- if you’re gonna get fucked by a player, Giroud would be my choice as well.
Only ONE ARSENE WENGER
Great support by the fans and a great win
fuck you spurs, you need to spend infinite money to overcome us that to in your fucking dreams…. haha
COYG !!!!!!!
Yes give Wenger a new 4 year £40 million contract
Come on man, don’t be a spoilsport. Yes, there are still problems we have to issue, but let’s just enjoy the win for now.
The really sad thing is Balls, is that Levy could offer £400 million to Wenger, le prof would laugh in his face and tell him to do one. Why don’t you do the same?
Sir Ball’s stick em’ up my ARSEnal’s well deserved victory.
It doesnt make sense but hope you get the point.
He really has. Credit to the player and credit to Arsene Wenger for helping him. We pounce on wenger when he’s wrong, but the improvement in Giroud has been absolutely huge
I actually down voted that by mistake. Giroud is a beast. There’s something about Wenger that brings the best out of strikers. He sees potential and really helps them improve their movement. Sanogo next?
We need another striker for sure, though I hope we don’t get some one who can potentially stifle this rich vein of form Giroud is showing. Is it me or is the way Giroud is playing right now the signs of a player who is out to do something special this season rather than some one in a purple patch? Unstoppable is the word I think describes him best at the moment. Hopefully the striker coming in (we hope) will compliment Giroud and give us what we need. We must be signing a few players, Wenger would not have culled… Read more »
Giroud MOTM….magnifique! Flamini the enforcer, there was more than a little dejavu there. Full backs gave their average wingers abit too much space at times but they will learn……..Koschielny is, quite simply the best CB in the league now, hands down…and Rambo, well…..was Rambo brilliant…when Wilshere clicks, Ozil, settles and Suarez settles in well..it’s on! COYG!!!!
There’s only ONE team in North London. And for all that spending, Spuds are still without a finisher the quality of Giroud.
they forgot to buy shooting boots or something, the extra couple hundred quid for a few pairs was too much.
Fair result. Two average teams scaping for 4th place….
Fuck off “sir” balls u miserable little man and crawl under a rock somewhere!
I’m 6’2”
This isn’t a dating site.
‘Little’ doesn’t refer to your height.
at Balls: 6’2″ and yet so small…
So find a big rock
4th scraping IS NOT AVERAGE FOR OUR LEAGUE U (insert as you see fit) SIR BALLING WANKER CUNT
Big words from a small brain.
Yawn.
Come on Sir Balls. are you telling me this match wasn’t better than the draw between ManU and Chelsea?
The first half was good, but i would say the same.
P.S. Bayern Munich are 10 times better than any team i have seen so far.
@Sir Balls,
How are they 10 times better than every team if they need late winners and concede late equalizers?
Thats what great teams do, they fight till the last second.
P.S. – Didnt Bayern win the Champions League ?
That may be true. Would you be comfortable supporting Bayern Munich then ?
But we’ve just won the NLD. No, this does not fix all our problems and nor is anyone saying we are better than Bayern Munich. Cant we be just happy we beat the scum and leave out all the rest for tomorrow. Why be so miserable or appear to be one?
We fought until the last second too.
Clutching at straws trolling. At least try some wit.
sir ballls it wud take some posts to see if u ever had any positive likes!!!!!!!!!!!
Mate I’m also pessimistic about our chances for 4th if we don’t sign any decent squad players today/tomorrow, but did you watch Cardiff 3-1 City? Liverpool 1-0 Utd? Chelsea 0-0 Utd? Now THOSE teams were fucking average.
In fact I watched some brilliant counter attacking play by Arsenal just now, and the spuds were lumping it up field like stoke city. I would like to carry on watching what we’re doing throughout the whole season, and not watch us slump to exhaustion by November, so SPEND SOME FUCKING MONEY!!!
If you look at the premiership there are no outstanding teams, thats why if we actually did buy 4 top international players we could actually win the league.
The problem is Wenger is a dictator, he will never do it.
Sir balls, do you choose to be this gullible or is it a condition.
Can we just ignore him? He’s obviously starved for attention. No thumbs down even, just pretend he doesn’t exist… maybe he will end up on a spuds blog where he belongs…
You are ”gullible” if you think this squad can win a trophy this season or any season.
@Balls
I bet no one was gullible enough to think Wigan or Swansea would win trophies.
You’re not a bad person, just simple-minded and lacking in logic.
Obvious trolling.
Cheerio.,
Seems like you dont like free speech on this site. Obviously you are a Wenger lover. Cheerio.,
Free speech is absolutely fine.
Some cunt coming on after a win in the North London derby to deliberately wind people up is not.
Blogs , its you who is the fucking CUNT for banning people who are anti-Wenger/Gazidis/Kronke.
You run this site like a fucking dictator.
This CUNT dictator has banned 100’s of people for expressing their honest views
Change your fucking name from Arseblog to Arsehole
Scrap scrap scrap.
I never ban anyone for being anti-Wenger, anti-Gazidis or especially anti-Kroenke.
I ban people who are ill-mannered, who break the rules, and who are too stupid for me to allow them to annoy the rest of the people here.
If you don’t like it, go read another site. Simple as that.
Hmm, what a great way to not get yourself banned. Why do you feel the need to abuse a man who has run an interesting and entertaing blog/news site for years just because they dont like abuse and threats on THEIR website.
Swearing is fine, as long as its directed at Tottenham and their is no abuse.
Sure blogs, you dont ban anyone who IS ‘ILL-MANNERED’ . everyone slags people off here and you let them get away it .
I bet you get paid by Kronke to run this site.
GET YOUR FUCKING HEAD OUT OF KRONKES ASS
Wow…people are actually entertaining this cretin……
I think blogs is too busy celebrating the victory. If you can’t do the same you are
A) A seriously miserable cunt.
B) A seriously miserable cunt (Sp*rs fan).
Enough with the conspiracy theories. The guy was a pathological attention seeker incapable of engaging in a worthwhile exchange of views.
FuryAtWenger, by running it like a dictator, do you mean he runs his site which you read for free in a way that he deems appropriate? Reading and commenting on this site isn’t a right that is owed to you, it’s a privilege afforded to you by him and his hard work. It blows my mind that anyone could fail to understand that. And banning someone who 99% of the community want banned is actually pretty democratic. Look at the up and down votes that guy gets with everything he says. I’ve seen countless people post comments that I know… Read more »
And that’s the stuff that took us into the champions league you spuds.
100 million pissed right away.wankers
Lol £0 to £118 and yet still can’t beat this?
NORTH LONDON IS FUCKING RED.
Dont forget the “m”
😀
Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
Kyle Walker is a diving prick,
and I love Giroud.
Roses are red,
Arsenal are red,
poems are crap,
and so are the spuds.
Mathieu Flamini: “If my memory serves me right, nothing much has changed.”
Flamini was good when he came on. Isn’t that the kind of player we have been asking for?
Loved how he kept screaming at his own teammates when they had a free kick, he will come in handy for sure this season.
I cannot wait until he plays against Stoke.
£100m spent.
Still shit.
Oh man, I simply cannot wait ’till work tomorrow to rub this in the face of every single spud taking the piss on the Arsenal and bragging about the “world class players” they’ve been buying.
I like Spurs, they always make me happy 🙂
Spuds the Shit of London
Is somewhat put off my shepherds pie now I have to say. But no fear – celebratory booze instead.
One-nil to the Arsenal!
Never a doubt.
*Spits out fingernails*
Remembers having fingernails when I awoke this morning.
I almost pulled my hair out in the last ten minutes. haha. What an immense win.
Am I the only one who thought Koscielny looked fucking terrifying with that bandage and those stitches on his face? He should keep them on all year, probably have half the strikers pissing themselves before games even start.
F*cking hard! I love when he knocked shit out of one of the spuds then gave him the wink and dive gesture. Fearless, fearless Arsenal!
*looks at in-place fingernails*
Two years ago, we would have conceded. Now, short of the ref fucking us with (another) dodgy penalty, I never thought we were going to drop points.
I still thought we were more likely at the end to score a second than give one up.
No disrespect to the 5-2(s) but I fucking love a good 1-0
Yep, but it brings back a lot of memories, which are great, but suddenly make feel fucking old….
To all the fucking idiots criticising Giroud last season. What a fantastic striker! 😀
We criticized him when he was poor. I don’t see anyone criticizing him now that he has shown what he is capable of.
If you were one of the more reasonable folk criticising him, then my comment wasn’t in reference to you; it was mostly directed at the people saying he was shit before he’d kicked a ball, only because he wasn’t van Persie.
He showed good glimpses last season and like Arsene said, a player’s second season is usually better than their first. Here’s to Giroud scoring lots more! 😀
To Giroud! Hope he has many more successful seasons.
Heh, he showed “good glimpses” alright.
@ Lily, damn right!!…we’ve had a lot of second-season syndrome stars at the Arse….remember how average Bobby Pirez was in his first season? Song took two season, his mejesterial Iceness took half a season too…and he was became an all time great….Giroud has been magnificent for half a season…and who says Wenger has no plan B…anyone else notice that, after being stung by the spuds on the counter at Shitehartl*ne ..and by lucky, jammy, brummy-lovin’ Villa, Wenger has forfeited possession for more incisiveness on the counter?…I think (and hope) it’s because he realises we don’t quite yet have the technique… Read more »
Giroud’s got terrific one touch finishing, but I still think has a long way to go, in terms of balance and ball control.
Was he ‘poor’ last season?
Did ok by my reckoning.
The ones who posted their one sentence scouting report in comments sections of how Giroud would never be any good now or in the future are the ones who deserve all the vitriol.
Wenger 1-0 Wonga
Excellent. I have copied that as my FB status.
turns out games are won on the pitch, not the transfer market. Spurs were shit, especially capoue, glad we didn’t buy him.
everything you said completely agree ESPECIALLY about capoue, who was so far off the pace you would think he thought this was a sunday league match, for someone labeled as being “big and powerful and exactly what Arsenal need” he was an absolutely featherweight out there little Cazorla had him moaning on the ground twice. 100mil doesn’t mean that all those players will adapt to the premier league i think we just had a glimpse of how Capoue is going to fair. Spend money wisely and buy the right players, in Wenger we trust!
Capoue looked ok, he was just over-hyped in January because we were crying out for a DCM and he was linked. Even though he’s a spud now I hope his leg isn’t too bad.
I actually think Flamini could be a really great signing. When he came on he was organising everyone. If we’d payed £10m for him everyone would be jizzing over him.
Fucking diving cunts!
LONDON IS RED!!
Gotta love Giroud
*swooooooon*
and by the virtue of ‘goals scored’ we go above Shite FC.
YEES! Fook off spuds! What a beautiful performance. Giroooooud that goal, that block, oh you handsome bastard!
Mind the gap spuds! Ramsey and Giroud love you guys!!
Am in tears.. God, I Love arsenal
COYG!! FOYS!!!!
Who the f*ck are ya, Spurs?
Up you Gunners!
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Money can’t buy class! (Now, let’s spend some!)
Mighty Arsenal! Same old spuds.
In this game against the enemy , we ‘would’ not lose. Though got to tell you I’m pretty much wringing out my cap right now. Well stuck in there boys.
1. Awkward moment for Eric Levy to realize he spent 100 million quid and his shitty club is still not good as AFC
2. Ramsey= heart of a lion.
Ramsey will not give up!
AVB March 4th 2013: “We are on an upward spiral in terms of confidence and they are on a negative spiral in terms of results. To get out of that negative spiral is extremely difficult.”
Clearly he was swinging upside down a branch when he said that.
And still Bale didn’t want to mate with him. Silly fucker.
Ah, comments like this are why i spend time here…..creative, graphic, inventive…much like wengerball…
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES
sorry a bit carried away but its a NLD win get the fuck in
Olivier “the difference” Giroud.
HE WAS A MOTHERFUCKING MATCHWINNER!
Nice shiny signings you have there…now…do us a favor and fuck off.
1-0 to The Arsenal.
Heh.
nc
Not so shiny anymore. Kind of scratched up and dented, I would say. One of them they already totaled.
Giroud was absolutely brilliant. If he’s had a better performance for us, I can’t remember it.
We will spend but we will take our time. We won’t spend because Robbie Savage wants us to spend.
Savage is too busy spending his own load all over his horrific keks.
Not even mad about the interlull anymore! Fuck off Spuds
no matter how much they spend, no matter how many times they break their transfer record, no matter how depleted our squad is by lack of signings and by injuries, they will never, ever match our spirirt and beat us
never, ever, ever
Who says we can’t defend????
media
Job well done against the spuds, time for action in the transfer market. Come on AW surprise us
Couldn’t agree more, The players have really given Wenger a life line with their performances and the fans have really got behind the team… Now it’s up to Wenger to complete the clubs side of the deal
And in other news: Daniel Levy was recently spotted searching his wallet for what looked like receipts
UP THE ARSE!
HAHAHAHAHAHA FUCKING SPUD CUNTS
Hey that’s a bit strong.
I’d have added. ‘MOTHER’ just to soften it a bit
£100 million pounds spent and the spuds are still shitter then the Arsenal!! Money can’t buy class
sorry mate, but nothing shitty about the Arsenal. At all.
forever in our shadow…..north london is and always be red
Two brilliant centre half performances.
Freemini mashes a Spud within twenty minutes.
Szcz pulls off a Seaman from a deflected shot.
Five red shirts and a keeper blocking shots in the six yard box.
Taking all this into account, tonight’s selection from the Fuck Off Spurs menu is the Graham 93 vintage.
107m quids worth of even more shit.
Good game, sweet result.. big ups to all the guys
cue the celebrations and new signings..!!
FOYS!!!
sign whoever you want filthy tottenham, you will never be a bigger club than arsenal. Fucking right back on track, in terms of the title challenge we will mount and win.
Arsene man, I love you but if you don’t sign a lot of someones sharpish I am going to hate you for robbing this squad of the ability to have a really good season.
MIND THE FUCKING GAP!
Wenger IN!!! Half of your work is done, Wenger. Drive us crazy tomorrow……with brand new players…… not the lack of.
Loved it! Great win!
My favorite moment, as read on the live blog: “Flamini’s first touch clatters a Cunt and wins us a free kick”
So Solid Crew !!!!!
I know we all want Arsene to spend, but we’ve got to absolutely love the passion in this team.
Koscielny, Mertesacker, Jenkinson, Gibbs and Sagna defend as though their lives depend upon it. They love our club. Great players and great men.
Hey don’t leave Monreal out. He was excellent in his short cameo, barring the two missed scoring opportunities.
It is the points, not the pounds that matter…
fucking love koscielny
Good effort, good commitment all over the pitch
Well done boys. We never doubted ya 😉
100m and they still fucked up! Forever bottlers
It’s my first year at Hong Kong University. Two hours ago I fought with my Hall supervisor and forced her to fix the Internet in my room. I told her I had to see the love of my life on the Internet. So hearing that, she fixed it. Little did she know that the love I claimed was Arsenal.
Oh Arsenal. I shall sleep quite well today. COYG!!!!!!!!
Kyle walker…thanks for all the clearances
@ 1-0 or 5-2 thecolourisstillred…he’s changed his name by deed poll to Kyle Sky-Walker…
Piss off back from where you came Sp*rs bastards you know who the real kings of North London are.
I will now try to get into ur head blogs for player ratings:

60000 GOONERBOSSES 100% 10/10 quality support today
Too many bosses 😀
I’d actually like 3 more please, with some to come back from annual trip to medical room, and jack from the bog too
The communication on defensive assignments was f*cking brilliant today!
Flamini’s urgency and willingness to yell, point, talk, and stick in seemed contagious throughout the team from the moment he was introduced.
We made those spuds, with all their supposed height and physicality, look like a bunch of diving, flopping, fluttering, crying nancies.
We played like real cannons today. F*ckin’ hard!
Couldn’t agree more about Freemini. Nasty aggressive midfield bastard. Nice.
Must say, he just what the Arsenal needed. Glad we re-signed him.
Not just Flamini.
In Szczesny we’ve got a keeper who is getting more and more dominant. When the guy is pushing defenders into position and shouting at people to get in the right place, and you can hear it in that cauldron, that’s another leader.
The passion shown today remind me of what made me fall in love with the Arsenal in the first place. When we had Adams, Keown, Parlour Dixon.
remember that old feeling at the end of games when it was matter of when not if we would concede a goal, i don’t feel that anymore
