Fuzzy haired clogger Marouane Fellaini has claimed that Arsenal tried to sign him during the summer. There were reports that the Gunners had triggered a release clause in his Everton contract, but nothing came of it in the end.
The Belgian midfielder told beIN Sport, “I will not reveal the details, but Arsenal wanted me this summer.”
Instead, the Gunners turned their attention to Real Madrid’s Mesut Ozil, plumping for quality over gigantic afro. It was a risky move for Arsene Wenger but it seems to have worked out ok.
Fellaini chose to join former boss David Moyes at Manchester United where he’s been treated well simply for not being Nani.
well, if we were trying to sign him, it was most probably for that deep midfield role, but we instead got Flamini… and as it has turned out, it was for the better…
Flamini > Fellaini
Honestly don’t think theres a single deep midfielder in the league better than flamini, considering not only his skills in tackling positioning ect but the very thing we lack he fills, the ‘what the fuck do you think your doing’ factor whenever he catches some1 losing concentration or some1 is fouling jack. perfect for Arsenal, if it were me i’d extend his contract now to a 4 year 1, then sign Sagna aswell and then we will be perfectly set up for a january striker signing
How do you know he’s single?
I think some people see your name and immediately give you a thumbs down. I can’t see a single thing wrong with what you said.
How could we just fro him away!
Arsene knows.
Fellaini’s a great player but he hasn’t got the legs to press for 90 minutes.
Similar to our ‘bid’ for Yohan Cabaye, I think Arsene’s ‘interest’ in Fellaini was yet another smokescreen to deflect attention from his TRUE intention… to get Mesut Ozil.
Easy to say now but im glad we didnt get him. Good player n all, just don’t think he would have solved any of our problems.
Fellaini – 28 mill benchwarmer
Flamini – Free BOSS!!
No brainer indeed!!
agreed its so easy for him to say now but one has to ask why his reply was “no comment” when questioned about similar interest from Chelsea.
Not even United truly wanted you Fellaini or they wouldn’t have waited for your clause to expire so that they could pay even more for the pleasure of having your Ozil-eclipsing self in their squad.
Damn, we’ll never know what would’ve happened when the afro met the old man’s hairdryer treatment..
I liked Fellaini, but I love Flamini.
Imagine how shit and one dimensional and 8th in the league we’d be with him instead of Flamini.
This stinks of an attempt to justify being bought by United.
“Honestly, I am a good player, look, the league leaders wanted me too…”
He said that with tears in his eyes. in his heart he desperately wanted to play for us. It’s all become very painful for him now that the stark reality of his situation has become clear. It’s a case of unrequited love. He desperately wanted us but we didn’t really want him. He’s trying to convince him self that our interest was genuine as he cries himself to sleep at night
Glad we chose Flamini over Fellaini. Flamini is like some tireless little beast that runs himself to the ground. He is more machine than man. Fellaini is more of an attacking threat, but flamini gives much more assurance to the back four in my opinion, something that Song didn’t particularly give. Wenger knows.
Shame. I guess we’ll just have to muddle on with Özil instead…
So rather than work with le prof, he decided to continue his glory free stint with the Gollem-faced charisma vacuum?
He must be one of the few players who relishes the international breaks, so that he gets the chance to play with some decent players.
Fucker!!!
No complaints, always felt he was overrated and preferred Gustavo to him. Flamini came along and proved me wrong.
Oh boohoo, ‘frollaini and United. I am playing the world’s saddest song on the world’s smallest violin.
I think Wenger could have made good use of Fellaini (not as a chimney sweep). Several people were talking about him last year as a potential good addition as a Vieira-style player (positionally, not quality-wise). It’s true that we have missed that sort of player in recent seasons, but frankly our midfield has collectively evolved the sort of high-tempo intensity and intimidation that an individual like Vieira or Fellaini bring. It’s a bonus that we have that sort of intensity without having to include a shit passer likely to give possession away cheaply and hence stand no chance in Europe.
Lets not be fickle we all……well majority were begging for a fellaini signing maybe our hopes were fading and any signing would have done or the fact that his price tag was within our reach or just coz of his Afro hair. we will never really know.
All i know is Arsene went and got us a certain Ozil and flamini for good measure……rejoice!
By no means all of us! Some of us said time and again that his passing ‘ability’ would put him at a huge disadvantage in Wenger’s team.
It even pissed of Everton fans from time to time…. Everton fans.
That kid is cute…
We could have given him a game in the coc tonight I suppose
Thank u for choosing Manure.
To be frank, I wanted felliani to come as he brings up the physical aspect of his game that we were lacking in last season. But wenger knows; Flamini on a free transfer and özil in midfield that work wonders to our play at the moment. I know I felliani isn’t playing great at the moment. But Moyes having known him at Everton should have known better that he isn’t much of a centre midfielder but more of an offensive target men. That was where he excel last season, scoring goals and giving Everton the physical edge upfront. Remember how… Read more »
Thank fuck for that
Moyes looks like the gollum (Smeagol) in the lord of the rings and Fellaini was the prreeciiioouuss ring he just couldn’t do without.
Fellani for Woodstock.
Flamini for War.
Lots of revisionist history in the comments about Flamini–his actual signing on a free was generally met with 90% doom and 5% bile here, with Blogs about the only one to say it was a good bit of business.
We all stand corrected, but many people were absolutely begging for Fellaini all summer.
there were many welcoming him back, many who thought it wasa a good signing. of course the usual ‘bile’ but thats what you get when idiots are given access to the internet with cheap smartphones. those begging for fellani were really begging for anything at that stage i guess. tensions were high, signings non existent. and again at that stage i think fellani would have been a good signing/message. of course no one at that time – even wenger i think – could have known we would have got ozil. obviously interest in fellani wass dropped when ozil came on… Read more »
Arsenal tried to sign him and what?
It’s funny how short people’s memories are. I remember reading a bunch of comments from flamini haters. There was a few of us who remember how awesome he was the first time around – like the night in San Siro where he out worked Gatuso! Fucking love the little Frenchman.
The glamour and pull of Moyes & Manchester
Its also worth noting the end of the DM debate, beong that yes, we absolutely needed one. Our performances without flamini have been like last year, a little rudderless. We miss that rock in the middle.
i love to hear the opinions of the 2 that thumbed down. when flamini came off against norwich we were lost at sea for 40 minutes. we missed him big time against dortmund. and also at crystal palace. 2 out of those three teams should have been easy for us, but missing our new DM – flamini – almost cost us. and who knows hat could have happened against dortund. we play with less confidence without him already this season, which is similar to our displays last year. our attacking players become less potent as they have to keep one… Read more »
