Serge delighted to Gnab new deal

Serge Gnabry’s first team credentials have been cemented by Arsene Wenger with the news the German under-21 international has penned a new long-term deal at the Emirates.

The 18-year-old who signed on professional terms with the club in 2012 has filled in admirably for the injured Theo Walcott in recent weeks netting his first Premier League strike against Swansea City while also winning the penalty which helped Arsenal to victory against Palace at the weekend.

Speaking about the new contract for one of his rising stars, the boss spoke in glowing terms about the winger’s potential:

“We signed Serge Gnabry because I believe that he will be a great player. He’s nearly there now, and competes for a regular place in the team in the Premier League.

“He has technical ability, he has power, he has pace, he has finishing quality and he can give a final ball. He’s a powerful offensive player and I believe that he will be a great player for Arsenal Football Club.”

Gnabry, who was this summer a loan target for former club Stuttgart, also spoke with pride at his progress at the Emirates.

“Arsenal is a great football club and I’m so happy to be here and sign a new contract. For me, now it’s all about working hard and developing my game.

“I’ve had some good opportunities recently in the first team, which has given me extra confidence, and this will only improve my game. I’m looking forward to giving my best for this club in the years to come.”

Having signed the ‘British core’ to long-term deals this time last year the club are relatively well placed on the contract front at the moment with most first team stars, Bacary Sagna and Tomas Rosicky aside, tied down for the foreseeable future. It’s believed Wojciech Szczesny is currently in negotiations about a new contract.

Nice. Now on to Sagna

ChrisGoona

Now? You mean more like “now” last season or “now” before the season started! I can’t believe we could lose Sagna. The guy is pure class and consistency. Hoping him and Rosicky sign on very soon.

Top Gun Gooner

Yaayyy !!!! Good shit

Mick

Pics or it didn’t happen.

Ben Clubb

Look forward to seeing him Serge down the wing and Gnab more goals in the future…

Joe

Take a bow, son.

Naija Gunner

Well said sir!

Now we do Sagna and am a little bit surprised about “negotiations still going” as regards ro Szcezney’s new deal

Genorious

Great! If he keeps up his current rate of improvement, he could be a top player in years to come! Now come on Bacary, seeing all these lovely contracts being signed must make you want one too…

Mooro

Good lad. Put in a decent stint lately and will only get better.

Not overly encouraged on the Sagna front but hopefully wrong.

If he’s planning to see his contract out and secure a big payday from PSG or the like, I’m not sure there’s many that would begrudge him that.

the only sam is nelson

You get the feeling that’s the way the wind’s blowing, and like you say, good luck to Bac. I do think he’d at least have the decency to take himself abroad to earn serious shekel, however, unlike certain other ex players currently struggling in mid-table.

ChrisGoona

I wouldn’t begrudge him of it, but hopefully he sees the potential of some success now to sign on.

vystina

now for Wenger

Jack's Right Foot

I really can’t wait to see how he’s going to develop, he’s got the potential to have everything.

Harish P

Can’t wait to see the game in two years when we see a more developed Gnab and Ox on the wings, they will compliment each other nicely in my opinion.

GunnAlex

Good! Let’s have some more Germans!

nigelwinterburn

Sagna and Rosicky and Wenger please. I’d be super sad to see Rozza go.

TURF

OK SAGNA PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SIGN ON THE DOTTED LINE.

trimi

Saw Serge score a fantastic half volley against West Brom U21 (after Blogs kindly suggested Gooners go and show support, seeing as many tickets were avaliable for about a fiver), and I’m so happy he has bought forth that fine form and determimation to the first. I honestly reckon he will turn out to be an incredible and integral player for us on our path to success in the near future.

UP THE ARSE

Ygete

Great !! Wenger!! Great the Gunners!! I also expect & believe in that the ARSENAL FC to sign one world class forward by January transfer window. Hope that the Gunners will shine a head of its rivals this season more than ever.

Best wish to the Gunners!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Adam, Watford

Good stuff Ganabry !

On a pedantic note, I am not sure I like this constant reference to players ‘ winning ‘ a penalty ! It suggests a reward rather than an award being given. It’s subtle I know but one day commentators and pundits alike will use the phrase in it’s correct meaning, i.e. to con the ref.

Keep up the good work Serge, and keep making those runs into the box where the defender can’t help but foul you and we are legitimately awarded as many penalties as we need to win each game !

😀

Sajit

Utd we see your Januzaj and raise you Serge!

2013-2014 = 2003-2004

Great to tie down the Gnabster on a long-term deal before those bastards at Bayern Munich try to tempt him away.

If he continues progressing on this trajectory Serge will no doubt be up there with Arjen Robben/ Frank Ribbery/ Alexis Sanchez within a few years.

Also love the fact he’s a direct threat to Theo Walcott. The competition on the right-wing should bring the best out of Theo and take him to the next level i.e passing the ball more accurately, becoming more clinical in front of goal, and tracking back and defending properly.

Javis

Great news, he looks a composed footballer and physically should give defenders problems down the line, upper body build similar to The Ox. He will get games this season for sure, tomorrow he’s a certainty to start.

Tesco Light Mayonaise

Good news

SB

Hope to see Gnabry & a good mix of first teamers & youngsters tomorrow.

Something like
————— GK————
Jenkinson – CB1 – Vermalen – Monreal
—————DM1 – Wilshere ———–
Gnabry — Rosicky —– Ryo
——— Bendtner———–

Shitbird

Who is this DM1?

berlingoon

CB1’s brother 😀

deano

Great news. Just need the boss to sign the dotted line now and dismiss the annoying PSG rumours.

Comedian

He is a bit like Ox not built or skill wise but keeping his head down and going on about the job.
Good to see him getting a new contract.

Fuzz

Having a German wrapping to our British core will be no bad thing for our resilience and solidity. Plus helps at penalties

arsesicky

off topic entirely, but I just want to say I still cannot believe we signed ozil. what a dream come true.

Alberic

why our youngsters have really hard pronuncable names?

Adam Richards

Bacary Sagna
………………………………………….

santori

Word.

Needs a new contract. 2 seasons plus one season on option will do nicelyu.

Enough time to assess both pretenders to the throne in Jenkinson and Bellerin but solid cover.

Other thing is whilst the French numbers have dwindled, they represent the core of the players who will exhibit a bit of bite to our game – Sagna, Koscielny, Flamini, Giroud and to some extent Diaby (if he can stand)

santori

Gnabry…really like this fellow.

He’s an absolute pitbulll out there with pace and technique.

Very clever with his positioning and runs into the box last game.

If he keeps up, he is going to push Ox and Walcott.

hope we get our other two wide options back soon. Could do with them in the upcoming fixtures.
