Wojciech Szczesny has hailed Arsenal’s goalscoring hero, Aaron Ramsey, and praised the defensive set-up of the team after the 1-0 win away in Dortmund.
The Welshman got his 11th goal of a sensational season to take the three points and Szczesny was keen to recognise his contribution.
“With Aaron Ramsey it seems like every time he touches the ball it goes in the net,” he said. “But the key to what we have done in recent weeks has been the defensive performances of the back four and the whole team. They’ve all made my job very easy. Hopefully we can keep it going
“It’s been a good week for us. We’ve got two clean sheets and two results against quality opposition, one away from home at one of the toughest venues in Europe. Real Madrid got battered here 4-1 last season, so it’s a good feeling to come away with three points.”
“It was definitely very tough but we expected Dortmund to press us very high up the pitch. We had our work cut out, but every time we managed to ease the pressure we looked quite dangerous. We were solid at the back for 90 minutes, took our chance when it came and it was pretty much a perfect performance from us.”
Szczesny’s comments overlook his own part in the win. He made two outstanding saves from Marco Reus and Jakub Błaszczykowski as the home side put the Gunners under pressure, and it continued his run of excellent form.
He’ll look to take that into Sunday’s trip to Old Trafford where he’ll be looking to twat the little boy inside van Persie right in his bastard.

Anyone else hear that Szcz has got a 4 year contract @ £100k per week?
Saw he’s in negotiations for a 5 year deal… 100k is fitting enough for the number 1 of the best team in England and slayer of dortmunds
Where’s his Daddy now?
On his way to the bank to get a share of the 100k
In PL media it was a given already.
So C+ asked him after the match, he answered “Who told you I signed?” with a grin and went off to the dressing room 😀

Thanks for the article. I’ll just dust down the ol’ Polish dictionary.
Bloody Poles coming over and stealing our jobs!
Bloody Britons coming over and stealing our wives for a weekend!
@Parisian Weetabix you’ll be even more thankful having discovered there’s not much more in it, than already translated 😀
I can only call John Terry a complete and utter c*nt for his weekends away in Poland.
Or as rte’s George Hamilton calls him… Koscielny.
He’s definitely maturing into the world class keeper wenger thought he would.. I was actually hoping we’d replace him this time last year.. Now tho thanks be to Denis, it appears wenger knew
To be fair, I think plenty of us knew he would be world class. Oh ye of little faith.
But his stats were worse than alumnias for his first two seasons… since being dropped last year his improvement has actually been ramswellian…
You mean to tell me that he had to come into a completely different team, play with completely different players and a completely different style of play, all after rising through to Ligue 1 at a later stage than most and you’re surprised he struggled?
He’s now settled, built up a Adams/Bould/Keown relationship with Mertesacker and playing like most fans new he could (based on some performances in his first two seasons). It was obvious from the second half of last season what sort of player and team we had on our hands.
I realise now that you were talking about Szczesny…. I feel like a muppet and will go and sit quietly in the corner
Thats the problem, you can’t base everything off stats. Yes, Kos had many average performances early on in his AFC career, but, he had several performances that were outstanding, most notably they were against some of the best teams in the world that showed he would or could become a world class CB.
He’s still not at his best yet, but his partnership with Per has certainly elevated him further. Once/if he learns to keep his feet in certain situations he will be the best CB in the world.
You too have made the same mistake as me Loose. George Hamilton calls Szczesny ‘Koscielny’, which was one of Double98’s points.
You will notice later that Double talks about a world class keeper…
“Once Aaron Ramsey starts scoring goals, he won’t stop” AW apparently said this in 2012 which i could not recall. But somehow i believe he did.
yea…he said that after Ramsey missed a chance to score….in that case he should have crossed for either Giroud or Walcott…but he chose to shot and missed. Doesn’t recall the match.
Aaron Ramsey- I am the one who scores.
Ramsenberg
Ramzidane
Rambo breaking bad?
Ramsenkamp
Aaronaldo Ramessi….As we are stinking the place, here is my suggestion.
Ramsahimovic
Ramadona
I’m sorry but Blogs wins hands down. We should wear yellow boiler suits and Heisnebarg hats next time we play in the yellow strip.
Ramadonna
awesome
Lolled at that last sentence, ahahaha
Fine performance from Sir Chesney last night.
Look at this beast Ramsey…. Almost ran 13 kms and this wasn’t even his toughest shift
I fucking love the whole team
But, really, who won’t?
Perhaps, the little boy inside van persie, when he gets battered at the very old toilet.
Love the way you abuse cunts and your sarcasm is great blogs
You always kinda remind me of tyrion lannister
Just hope you are taller
Only by a couple of feet
Four legged bastard
“Twat the little boy inside V*n P*rsie right in his bastard”
Ha Ha Ha Ha!
I thought Rosicky was absolutely immense yesterday.
Hope he stays fit for most of the season. COYG!!
oh what a collective team performance , loved the way Mesut fucking Ozil tracked back once and outran Arteta and covered a space on the left their right when Dortmund were hitting us on another counter
I do like this new Wojciech. He seems to have lost that cockiness he was once known for, and now rather than make silly or inflammatory comments – which were admittedly often hilarious – he seems perfectly happy to discuss his very talented team-mates, say all the right things, and put in solid goalkeeping displays every week. Seriously, this season Szczesny has been awesome, yet his good form still seems to have gone under the radar. I know much of this is down to our attackers stealing all the limelight, but part of it must be because he just isn’t… Read more »
I miss the trepidation, anguish and horror felt before each and every opposition set-piece with Almunia in goal.
Gone, but not forgotten I guess.
For all their singing and lambasting and trying to get under the refs skin it was actually rather classy that the Dortmund faithful gave a generous ovation to our little Mozart when he was withdrawn.
Kudos.
Unrelated, but I have an idea for a film Wayne Rooney can star in. Its called ‘I have no hair and I’m a cunt’ with special guest Alan Hansen.
But Alan Hansen has hair.
he steals it from orphans and glues it on
He actually has pubic fluff growing on his head
Ramsey tops the most km ran in most games, he’s showing calmness and confidence now, to think of the midfielders to come back and he’d be one of the first names down on the team sheet now, what a turnaround, I also hope rosicky stays injury free he’s being brilliant, can’t wait to destroy the fucking mancs
So looking forward to the rest of the season. This team is excelling in all areas from defense to attack and we have achieve this with good balance. We undoubtly have the best squad in England right now.
I am sure ozil has no regrets moving to London as he has witness not just progression but actual quality in the team. He once played with Ronaldo, now he has Rambo.
We have not had a reliable keeper since lehmann left us I have been critical of Szczesny and Wenger for it ever since I still think he needs to improve immensly for us to win titles our sucess so far has been due to retaining our players and adding Ozil ,Rosicky’s Ramsey fine form and our defenders working as a unit as we saw last night hope we don’t hit a Slump
Why’s there no Koscielny song? OK I know his name’s a bit tricky, but he’s been immense. Rambo, Szcz, Giroud = massive improvement on last season. In Ramsey’s case, it’s amazing and I couldn’t be more pleased for what looks to be a really decent bloke.
But I’m delighted that Rosicky is getting a run regularly and playing so well in what’s probably (weep) his last season.
1-0 to the Arsenal on Sunday and I’ll settle for petit Patrice getting an O.G as our scorer!
Ooooh I wanna dance with Koscielny…
i thought this was great… could make it longer:
Soo, you wana dance with Koscielny,
Well, you’re gona feel the heat from Koscielny,
Soo, you wana dance with Koscielny,
Well, Koscielny will smash you
maybe change dance with, to get passed.
His name is LoLo
He is the Boss now…
What happens if we beat Marseille but lose to Napoli and Dortmund beat Marseille and Napoli ?
3 teams on 12 points. Has that ever happened ?
In that situation: Dortmund 1st, the 2nd will be judged by goals difference between us & the Naples side (like in the K.O stage).
Not entirely right. In this scenario we couldn’t finish ahead of Dortmond, but Napoli could win the group with a good result against the Germans – and eliminate us, but they would have to beat us by more than three goals. That’s why we need at least four points to be sure of qualification.
Also not entirely right. If Dortmund beat Napoli by one goal and Napoli beat us by one goal we would top the group because we would have the best goal difference in matches among us, Dortmund and Napoli (ours would be +1, Dortmund’s would be 0 and Napoli’s would be -1).
What did you think of the game FG? I know you weren’t too fussed if it was a draw as the PL is our best chance at a trophy.
I felt it was a resolute defensive performance in which Arsenal beat Dortmund at their own game.
Agreed. The key to the victory was determined defending. And when the chance came we took it.
oh I didnt remember that Napoli beat Dortmund. haha. Im so confused too. lol
The short answer is that by virtue of that absolutely massive result yesterday we are in a very good position. Assuming we beat Marseille we can only NOT qualify if all the results go as you say AND we lose to Napoli by at least 2 goals. I don’t know if the three way tie has happened before but in that case each of us, Dortmund and Napoli would have two wins and two losses vs the others, so the relevant tiebreaker would be goal difference in the matches among the three tied teams. Right now we would win that… Read more »
Dortmund and us go through, it goes on result against the rest of the group, napoli would have lost twice against dortmund whereas it’d be a win apiece for the us v dortmund & napoli… I think
Or goal difference
Of course, it doesn’t matter, it’s all hypothetical until we slip up, which we won’t = happy days
napoli beat dortmund already

Blog, is it impossible for me to post a comment on the Arseblog app (for iOS)?
Or, I just cant find where to post?

You can comment on the mobile site but you can’t reply.
Congrats for gunners win, gibbs tackling got good, closing down from other afc players was brill pers headers ball reading did well, well done afc team
I hate negative thinking,no matter what napoli can never defeat us simple..just believe and leave the rest to God and the Team..don’t be negative
To the tune of “I just can’t get enough” by Depeche Mode:
“Duh, duh, duh-duh-duh duh duh
Duh, duh, duh-duh-duh duh duh
Duh, duh, duh-duh-duh duh duh
Aa-ron Ram-seey”
After the goal our 3,000 supporters managed to bellow it out loud enough for it to be heard on Sky Sports 1 over here. What a fitting song… “I just can’t get enough” pretty much sums up Rambo’s drive and ambition these days.
But hold on, wasn’t a lack of ‘ambition’ the reason a little boy inside of smelly poopy skunk decided it was best to leave?
So if the results go as above we come second even if we lose 2-0 to Napoli and we have an identical goal difference because we have a higher coefficient.
Doesn’t sound fair but who gives a fuck !
COYG
Ramtastic!!!
Ozil is 7th in the list and 3rd arsenal player behind ramsey and arteta, he does put a shift in when necessary. At one time when Mert missed that header to score, and then dortmund counter attacked, it was Ozil who cleared for a certain dortmund goal.
Despite not being up to his best yet, Ozil is a massive influence on the team’s game.
Just so people don’t get all muddled in their thinking and start slating him off.
I don’t understand why everyone here wants dortmund to beat napoli and take the group to the wire, when if napoli get a draw in Germany and we win the home game against Marsialie we qualified for the next round and would need only a draw in Italy to retain the frist spot, no brainier for me wanting dortmund to win vs napoli.
Not only that, but Naples will qualify if they draw with Dortmund, whatever happens in the last round (even if they lose against us, they will always be above Dortmund on head-to-head). So they’ll be most concerned about not losing. In that case, two points (2 draws or at least one win in the last 2 matches) would see Arsenal qualify (and top the group if one of those points was in Naples). Less than that, we finish third unless Dortmund fail to win in Marseille. If Arsenal beat Marseille, we would also qualify, and need only a draw in… Read more »
Yeah Dortmund to beat Napoli.
Best result for us. We beat Marseille and go to Napoli (minimum draw) to qualify top.
Simple.
hahaha are you mad ? dortmund to draw with napoli, we beat marseille and we are qualified with one game to go and we will play for draw in Italy for the 1 spot what is better ?
Thiaaron Henramsey
What’s got into him?
He is guaranteed a goal every game.
Just fucking beat the both of them and finish top

matthew flamini arsenallove you more than you will know…
I think Giroud would destroy United he will a major part…I just hope we can have walcott in the becnh bc against an aging United defense he would be destructive…..I think with our midfield we can easily dominate the game like we did against Liverpool…..I thinkthe 2 man midfield of Utd will simply get overrun and Giroud’s holdup play will help the likes of Izil Cazorla and Ramsey to run riot. I have recently written a piece on my blog analysing the top 6 midfield and according to it we have one of the best attacking and passing midfield…Have a… Read more »
