Per Mertesacker is calling on Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski to add a bit of spark to an Arsenal side which could use some fresh legs.
The England winger scored twice against West Ham on Thursday, while Poldi bagged a goal and an assist during his comeback game. And the BFG says having players who aren’t fatigued will be a big help during the hectic festive schedule.
“In a very special period that only happens in England, you need to get the right additions with players who come back from injury,” he told Arsenal Player.
“We lost Aaron Ramsey so a good player is maybe out for two or three weeks so we need the right additions now. We have a good squad and that’s going to be vital in the next couple of weeks.”
The pair may well have to shoulder some responsibility today against Newcastle, as rumours suggest that Mesut Ozil didn’t make the trip with the rest of the team yesterday.
Wenger spoke about the need to rest him at some point but it would seem strange to do so for a tricky away game rather than a more winnable encounter with Cardiff at home on Wednesday.
We shall see.
Poldi for a hattrick with Walcott a brace, please?
Up the Arse! Come on you gooners!
Would like to see Cazorla play through the middle with Poldi and Walcott on the wings. Bendtner should start upfront, he can’t do any worse than Giroud.
You are absolutely right mate… We’ve relied a lot on Oliver and it’s time to give Bentner a chance to prove himself. Honestly with the right mentality Bentner is better than Oliver.
We’re winning this one with or without Ozil. More so, John Terry is a cunt.
Couldn’t agree more.
The French B team are on form recently, so a win by 1 goal margin would do
Poldi … hurt them. Hurt them good, all the while with that beaming German smile on your big square jaw!
i don’t fear newcastle. we are the Arsenal bring it on.
Hopefully knock a fair few past Newcastle and Cardiff to peel back this goal difference!
What a season we are having so far, (joint) top for christmas and through albeit second in the group of death in C.L.. You have to hand it to wenger for releasing the deadwood and bringing in flamini and özil in the summer. Throughout 2013 arsenal have rising from wannabe contenders to the real deal.C.O.Y.G
Please Wenger start this game with Bentner instead of Oliver… Like it or not Oliver has had his take so far and we ain’t seen much of it plus he seems to be low on confidence so it’s time to give Bentner the same opportunity to showcase what he can do.
Just to re-iterate a guys comments from a previous topic which cannot be stressed enough…
Is Mertesacker captain yet?
How fickle some of you guys are. How fast you are to turn on Giroud cause he’s had some bad games. So soon you forget he was extremely important to get us to where we are now. You also forget poldi wouldn’t have scored if Oliver didn’t hold up the ball so well for him. Now some of you compare him to Bendtner. Some of you gooners are just big babies and enjoy moaning a lot.
Thank you, someone understands Giroud’s efforts have been massive towards our form this season, even though he has gone a number of games without a goal. His hold-up play has been great, and has lead us to plenty of great opportunities.
Truly, Oliver been good for the team. But he needs rest, I believe in giving bendtner a chance to prove he has wat it takes to wear and play for arsenal. This is my taughts, you never know he might come correct.
Buy Diego Coster, Buy Diego Coster!
Buy out his contract!..
Who is the Mr. Coster you speak of?
Northern Goon,
So far this year the priority order for captains seems to be
1 – Vermaelen when he plays
2 – Arteta, when he plays and TV5 doesn’t
3 – Mertesacker when neither of the above play
I’m happy with whosoever Arsene decides on the day
Giroud is one good striker undergoing a difficult spell…. I wouldn’t blame him so much for it, at the same time, I wouldn’t play him in each n every game….
