Arsene Wenger has revealed that his side came through their 2-0 victory against Hull City unscathed, although Bacary Sagna will sit out Sunday’s visit of Everton with the same hamstring problem which ruled him out midweek.
The French right-back picked up the problem in the win against Cardiff last weekend and will also miss Wednesday’s game against Napoli although he could return for the top-of-the-table clash with Manchester City.
In his place Carl Jenkinson will be looking to pick up where he left off against the Tigers; the England international took only 90 seconds to assist Nicklas Bendtner and had a pretty good game alongside the BFG and Kos.
Balls.
Its cool Carlos Jenkinson has this one in the bag.
I hope, for his sake, he has two!
Jenkinson, superstar,
the reason why we sold Fabregas!
If hope he does well. if he fails to do a job in this two crunch games then we will know he’s not ready to be our week in week out RB. Thus when Sagna leaves a replacement should be priority and jenko can continue being the more than capable understudy that he is!
I like Jenko but the thought of him starting against Napoli makes me bleed from every orifice for some reason.
Interesting…
Since he managed an assist for TGSTEL, can we now dub him TGRBTEL?
Ask me again at the end of december!
Strikes me as getting better with a run of games, rather than the odd one here or there – hence his excellent start last season when Sagna was injured and subsequent rusty games against the likes of Sunderland when he hadn’t played in a while. Therefore, I’m not too concerned about him starting what will be his third straight game, as when he’s on form he’s genuinely excellent.
Fair point.
I think the concern is more over his tendency to lose his head just a little at crucial junctures than his overall ability. His pace will come in handy against Insigne and Deulofeu though.
That’s just any young player in general though. What he offers in the final third will probably be more effective than Sagna in my opinion. Although he’s not as commanding in the back as Sagna is, he has had more than enough quality to ensure that he doesn’t get stomped all over, and enough experience with the first team to work together for what he might lack.
In short, not worried.
I pity the fool who doubts the abilities of Jenko!

Jenko had a good game against Hull. Everton is also at home. Think nerves are his undoing sometimes. Just don’t play Theo on the wing. Need someone who will track back and not leave Jenko exposed.
I agree with you Pebble Berlin, Theo cant start with Janks on the same side better play Gnabry he can track well then Theo
If Arsene daren’t play Theo ahead of Carl it seems to me a double blow for the Napoli game. The threat of Ozil finding him at any time would surely have given them a miserable night.
I have a lot of faith in Jenkinson. Obviously a shame for Bacs though
Oh No.
Kos? Surely you mean Boss. 😉
Jenkinson, it’s your time to shine son.
Hopefully jenks will have learnt from his blunder against chelsea in the league cup. I think he naturally focuses more in the big competitions anyway. Good luck Carl!
Wasn’t that long ago some we’re saying we could off Sagna as his form was poor and we had Jenks. Now after the Chavs game in the cup, Jenks is shit apparently.
He’s still learning his trade, but The Corporal will come in and get the job done.
This ^^
Everton are a far better team than Hull, so Jenks will be tested. A lack of concentration from a right back is what gave Everton their win at OT. Let’s hope he’s focussed.
As for the Napoli game, that back four has me worried. Jenks had a pretty torrid game against Napoli at the Emirates Cup and they’re a lot stronger in a non-friendly game and at home.
Can’t wait for Sagna to be Bac.
It is unpleasant, but not a huge problem, I guess. Heck in son is certainly capable, and the way he spoke after the hull match, along the lines of “I wanna play, I wanna contribute.” hard not trust him to do a good I job,
Jeckinson*, i don’t know how the hell that happened.
lets try Jenkinson
Jenkinson is piss-poor and not up to Arsenal standard.
Hope we start Flamini at RB instead of that walking disaster.
Same goes for Ramsey right boy?
Ahh… glad to see people learning to reserve judgement on young players especially after the masterclass Ramsey has given us. I mean it would take a massive kind of twat to write off players like Jenkinson wouldn’t it Arsenal69?
i reckon the lad can step up. Sagna back for city would be a touch
Better be combing those eyebrows ready for Sunday Corporal!
Hopefully Flamini is ok and able to support and help Jenkinson
i dont have faith on him, i know we lost this game already, can wenger play vermaelen there
Did you fall on your head?
Really hard I bet.
I am not sure why can’t we play Monreal on the right against Napoli not so much against Everton at home, we will need all the experience away from home in a decider.
Before one telling me oh but he is a left footed player, remember Bac played left back and was good enough, Monreal is technically good enough to be able to play on the right for the Napoli game.
I don’t trust jenki …
Y’know, looking at that picture, I’ve only just realised how beautiful Bacary is.
It’s the shirt
I think Jenks can do a job against Everton and Napoli. But I hope Sagna is back for City. Vital part of this new Arsenal.
Honestly, after seeing Bac’s wife, I’m surprised he has any time or energy for football.
oh bums
I think we better start Flamini as right back as he can play there.. but Jenkinson wouldn’t be a bad option either.
Jenkinson will be up for the game. Love his attitude and his crosses.
It’s still early days in Arsenal’s title challenge and I think Everton is going to be a great test for Jenks (and our squad depth). We’ll really get to see his improvement. Everton use the flanks very very well, especially their left flank. But I expect Everton to target most of their attacks through their left.
Definitely expect Flamini/Arteta to play with Jenks and help him out alongwith whoever plays on the right.
Two HUGE plus points is Baines is injured as well and that we’re at home.
I hope this isn’t another one of these “Few weeks” injury that will end up with a several month absence
Jenks should start to give him chance but if he is struggling in first half then replace him with either Flamini or Ramsey. But I feel he will step up.
I am not worried for Napoli game..we only need a draw there to top the group.. But Everton might be tough one for him. Also, I don’t the whole truth is been told about sagna. I got a feeling it may be longer than Napoli game.
Piffle to all the negativity! Although it will be a tight game i think we will beat Everton, beat Napoli, draw against scum city and beat the chavs
Bravo Steve, but I think we will also beat city.
Jenks is a dude.
What’s with the downers people?
And that is bad for business, but in Jenks we trust!!!!!
What’s up with all the negativity over Jenkinson? He’s had a shaky few games this season but did we all forget how great he played away at Bayern? Maybe his best game for Arsenal. He’s still very young. He’ll pull through just like Ramsey did and Wilshere is doing right now. He will do the job against Everton and Napoli and it will only make him better for the future. Hell of an athlete, too and you can’t help but laugh at his running style!
In other news….
A manager and goalkeeper from the same club win the manager and player of the month awards for November. So congratulations to Wenger and Szcz…..what’s that? Alan Pardew and Tim Krull?? Fuck off.
RB and Striker are the only areas of our squad that remotely concern me. I have all the time in the world for players who genuinely have a go and give 100% and I can’t fault jenkinson on effort. My only complaint with him is technical ability, He slows our play down sometimes because he plays backwards passes a lot, and yes, before you say it I did see his cross for bendtner mid week. When I said striker it’s only that I fear for how the man who steps in to cover giroud would fare but the hull game… Read more »
The lad needs to step up his game if he ought to play more regularly. Which I believe he most certainly can with just the attitude he has got for the game. All the very best for him. And hope that Bacman is back for the more challenging and intense games up ahead for us.
So Zaha apparently shagged Moyes’ daughter? Hahahahahaha!
She Gives new meaning to riding the bench!
In Moyes he thrust.
Brilliant…
Too much negativity on here about Jenkinson, I’d say. If Ramsey the Movie tells you anything, it’s that you should usually trust Wenger on this shit.
And don’t you dare say “Squillachi.”
Apologies if anyone has already linked this in the comments today but, if true, mwahahahahahahahaah http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLvCY6hI_Lc
well, we could do with someone to stand in for Ollie when he needs to have a shampoo & blow-dry, but RVP? nah…Benzema yes, RVP? NOOOOO!If I was Wenger I’d have sold him to some team in deepest darkest outer Uzbekistan…but not to Manure…never, not in a million years…we effectively sold them the title for 24m squids…
Off topic but this piece about ozil is really intresting “After signing on deadline day, Ozil insisted on going round the whole club – from accounts to catering – to introduce himself”. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/mesut-ozil-interview-arsenal-move-2898057
Jenkinson will be fine against Everton at home and away in Naples. I do hope that Sagna is fully fit for the City game, but if Jenkinson does well in the next two games then I guess we don’t need to worry too much about City.
Hope Jenkinson will prove to be reliable
I think this is really bad news for Vermalean. I dont think he will start in either of the Everton or Napoli game because Wenger might not want to change his back four too much, all at the same time, especially against Eveton & Napoli. If Bac was avaiable, i think Verm would have started against Napoli, resting either Kos or Per.
On the other hand, the game Jenkinson had against Hull proved that he is more than a capable cover for Bac.
COYG
I hope wenger doesnt start artete and flamini to offer more protection to defense and put ramsey on wing.
Morning all lol here is to another three points
We should be fine as long as Bac comes back for Man City’s game. Everton are a decent side but not on the same level and Napoli might suffer from injuries so it’s up to Jenko to step up.
He’s a young player. I think its great he is getting a shot. He is still a bit one dimensional but he has great heart. Just needs to cut out the mistakes. If we remember Koscielny in his first season, there is hope for Jenkinson to turn into a successor to Sagna, but I would also keep an eye on the development of Bellerin. On the other flank. Monreal is a great alternative to Gibbs. As good as Gibbs has been, honestly think Monreal has made a case for himself as a good option rather than a bench player. Think… Read more »
Off topic, but has Sagna been offered a new contract?
