The Guardian are reporting this evening that Theo Walcott could miss 4 weeks with the knee injury he sustained against Sp*rs on Saturday evening.
The England international is due to be assessed fully tomorrow but obviously early indications make it a more serious issue than we would have hoped.
With Nicklas Bendtner already out for a month with an ankle injury, it means Arsenal’s options up front are diminishing. Thankfully, if there’s a good time to pick up knocks, perhaps January is it when there’s the chance to address any problems in the transfer market.
Wenger does have Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud fit, and with Serge Gnabry’s performance providing another interesting option from the right hand side, the blow would softened somewhat, but having as many fit bodies as possible will be crucial when the games start coming thick and fast.
Meanwhile, Wenger doesn’t expect any FA action against Walcott for his 2-0 gesture to the Sp*rs fans, saying, “What he did is not offensive. You look for every single incident, I can understand that, but it is an action that didn’t offend anybody.”
Bugger.
Oh well, I’m sure we’ll cope. On to the next game.

SIX MONTHS OUT !!!!
Very bad news.
Tore his Anterior Cruciate Ligament ;-(
Gutted for him as he’s been looking very sharp lately…at least the fixture list this month is relatively easier than february and march. Hope wenger brings in a striker though.
And yet he looked so content being stretchered off past the spud supporters.
If Theo ever gets a statue I think we all know what pose it will be
I’m all for strengthening providing it’s “top top” quality. Last thing we need is more deadwood that we seem to finally got rid of
Being heavily linked to Pato. I know, I know, he hasn’t performed all that well recently and was at one point injury prone but who would’ve thought the King would turn out the way he did? Of course its a risk but to be fair 10m isn’t that steep of a price for a player who’s potential is really quite high.
Love Pato. I don’t believe the rumors at all but of all the “fringe” players we’ve been linked with, he’s by far the most absurdly talented of them all. Whatever happens to him, I hope he makes it to the top again.
For £10m he would be a great buy. He has the adaptability to play on the wings or behind the front player but is obviously more comfortable playing up front. Giroud is a wonderful player and his work rate for the team is absolutely superb. In terms of target men strikers in the league, he is right up there at the top. We have B52 who can perform the same target man role, Theo’s performance yesterday showed a lot of intelligence and it caused Spurs problems. Pato would be a fantastic option to come off the bench when the target… Read more »
Fingers crossed he isn’t out for a month, he’s been in good form recently and should play an important part in our season.
On another note, I find it ridiculous that there is even any mention of Theo getting punished by the FA, the gesture was in no way offensive, simply a statement that was undeniably a fact. Trust the spuds to react to an irrefutable fact by throwing money it. As for that attempted stamp on Monreal….
I’ll be the first to say the tackle he put in was needless and reckless.
But all that aside i hope it is not too serious, he reminded us that he can be more than feel in for Giroud. Theo!
There’s just so much wrong with the first part of that comment I don’t even know where to start.
Weren’t you the one who laid onto wilshere sometime back for inviting unnecessary tackles and being rather reckless. i see no different with me wanting theo to be more cautious/wise.
Wilshere invites fouls because he passes at the very last moment, drawing players in to allow for more space in the middle of the field. It’s how he plays.
It’s also how Fabregas played.
Don’t see how it was either needless or reckless to try to win the ball back.
Needless because all he needed to do was stick with him as he posed no threat much like he did all game. Reckless because he needs to take of his body.
… I have no words for this gent.
Walcott should have been red-carded for endangering himself. Disgraceful…
If you haven’t noticed, we’ve seriously upped our work rate at winning the ball back from the opposition all over the park this season. If you also haven’t noticed, we’re top of the league.
Coincidence? No.
Go home Heroldgoon, you’re drunk.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Some say he can knock in a corner and be on the end of it. Thus the only player in the world able to assist himself.
Get well soon Theo.
…..we call him ‘The Stig’
It’s amazing how well we coped this season with all these injuries we have had.
I believe that AW will do what ever he can to bring a striker on loan or permanent deal. This season is very very very different for us.we have a very clear chance of taking a trophy.Either an average or best striker will really do good for us!!!
It’s the Arsenal rule. Now that Chamberlain is back, someone had to get injured. But I think we will cope. Gnabry and Chamberlain both have huge potential and add the pace that Walcott would. They are better at dribbling than him also. However Theo is a goal scorer now, hopefully others can step up.
He’s going to buy Kalou. I can feel it in my fuckin bones.
no no noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
The next month:
Villa Away
Fulham Home
Coventry Home
Southampton Away
Palace Home
12 Points & a fifth round berth in the FA Cup, fuck it stick me up front.
I’m shit, don’t do that
Now’s you time to shine, Park.
Do us proud.
Never forget who you are
Interesting comment. You know how people around here say “who?” when someone mentions Park? You don’t think he does that too, do you? Like he’s actually forgotten he exists himself?
Giroud’s back and will bang them in. Don’t need Park.
Yes, I’d also like to file a complaint; against Tottenh*m Hotsp*r for not even trying anymore. There was a time when it was so cute, they thought they were better than us. It lasted about half an early season. But now the gulf in class is so obvious that it borders on the embarrassing. No, wait – cross that – it IS embarrassing. Will the F.A. be looking at offensive performances? Because if so, I have a strong case for approximately 12 different players. Hint: all of them were wearing white and black. Pure shit, all over the pitch. Let’s… Read more »
Bergkamp was banned for the same gesture. Will the FA maintain consistency? Will they fuck. They make the rules up as they go along and then blame FIFA when they are caught out.
This month’s fixtures are looking a bit kinder than the last few. So hopefully if Giroud is back next week and having Chambo, Gnabry, Podolski, Ozil, Cazorla, Rosicky and Wilshere we should have enough attacking verve to get us through.
Does make you realise how lucky we are in that department when you write it out!
on a separate note my wife is at this moment giving birth to my son! he aint been born yet and even he thinks spurs are shit.
and yes maybe this is the one time i shouldn’t be reading arseblog, but as i explained to her we just beat the scum
congrats lee ,my wife is also about to give birth to a girl.Another glorious little gunner about to be born. Her first words wont be da da, it will be Arsenal 2 spuds 0.
I’m sincerely happy for you guys. Nothing beats a new gooner.
Congrats on to your wife 4 giving birth lee gooner…
Congrats, Lee Gooner and wife on the birth of your son! You have a squad list and more of names for the newest Gooner!
Perhaps, an Arseblog “Name the Baby” Contest?
Anyone else think Wilifried Bony of Swansea would potentially do very well at Arsenal and be the solution for our depth issue up front? He’s not Champion League tied. He’s great in in the air, creates chances on his own in 1 v 1 situations, good with his back to goal….
Anyway, to me he seems like someone who is much more of an athlete than Diego Costa and probably available for half or 2/3 of the price. He’s also already acclimated to England
He’ll cost more than Pato probably, just how some British clubs are, like Newcastle with Cabaye and such.
I like Bony and he could do well but given Swansea paid 12m for him in the summer that will be a no go. Further, if the point is to win the title (which it should be), I don’t see any point in half-measures like Bony (or other mooted options like Benteke, Adrian Ramos etc.). Either needs to be a top striker (or someone with that potential), otherwise may as well get a cheaper but experienced stop-gap like Berbatov or even Klose (both have obvious flaws, but so do mid-tier but more expensive options such as those I have mentioned… Read more »
Why not get Henry back for a third spell? It’s short term till we can figure out whom to buy after the world cup. We won’t get quality anywhere. Arsene wants to find players who are good enough to play in that team. Well then, how about the greatest Arsenal player of all time?
Only one month would be a good result all things considered. Could be so much worse.
Also, I don’t think it would be ideal, but would Wenger would be willing to try out Ozil as a false 9? Might work with Podolski and Gnabry flanking, but I wonder if Rosicky is enough of a scoring threat from midfield.
Gnabry to start every single match pleeeeeeeease…
Shame, but I feared for worse when he held his knee. At least he hopefully doesn’t miss the ‘bigger’ games. Anyways, he has been on such a form for a year, hopefully he continues when he returns.
Every game is big for us this season no underating any team please,we want to win something it’s been long.
Oh why? He’s on form now. Damnit.
Anyone else wonder how much more difficult it will be to attract a “top quality” striker when Wenger hasn’t signed a contract yet himself?
Given the location Theo was injured why didn’t they stretcher him off by the quickest/safest route? i.e. across the pitch
If they did this Theo wouldn’t have been facing the Spuds and they wouldn’t be able to pelt him with coins.
we gotta get a st on loan at least
I just saw on skysports that Theo is going to be out for six months! I hope this is a joke or some typo because that will be a massive blow for us!
Says 6 months on Arsenal site now too. Bad times. http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/theo-walcott-ruled-out-for-six-months
