Versatile youngster Nico Yennaris is, this morning, being linked with a move to Brentford.
The League 1 side are currently top of the table and heading for promotion, while Yennaris has yet to make an appearance for the club this season.
Indeed, despite some promise and being a top young Gooner, the 20 year old’s chances of making the first team are very slim. Although he has filled in at right back he is more naturally a midfielder, and given the current crop of central players at the club it’s very difficult to see him make the required breakthrough.
At his age he needs to play above the reserve/youth levels, and a move to Griffin Park would make sense and certainly provide a great chance for him to do that.
Update: the move has been announced. Good luck to him!
Brentford boss, Mark Warburton says, “Nico is a talented young player and I am sure he will have a bright future at Brentford Football Club.
“We are delighted to secure him permanently. I thank the senior staff at Arsenal for their help in finalising the deal.”
Best of luck to the lad!
Nico always looked good when he played for the first team, shame the competition was too much for him to break through. It’s good to see him get a chance to establish himself somewhere, hope he fulfils his potential, good luck!
All the best, mate! Good to see him getting chance.
Over rated by so many fans. Good luck Yennaria
Over rated? A youth midfielder putting in accomplished performances at full back for the first team says otherwise…
A bizarre statement if ever I’ve seen one. Yennaris was one of the few from the youth that looked good whenever he played. While not spectacular I always felt confident he’d perform.
Good luck Nico.
Good luck, indeed . . .
. . . and at least he is still wearing a red and white shirt ! It’s not the worst that could have happened !!!!
😀
Ahh that’s a shame, I liked the look of him when he played. Good luck Nico, hopefully see you in the prem some day!
Always a shame to see young players leave but best of luck to the guy!
Hope he does well!
blogs, was there a ransfer fee?
Transfer*
I actually rated Nico very highly especially after his performance against ManU a few seasons back where he pretty much contained Nani when he came on. I have to admit that I havent seen much of him since but his talent was clearly there to see. Best of luck Nico, you will always carry Arsenal blood in your veins!
Unfortunately, Wenger realised that containing Nani was no longer a show of ability as he manages to stop himself.
Goodbye Bambang Pamungkas! http://img.antaranews.com/new/2011/04/ori/20110416034218bukubp160411-2.jpg
All the best Nico!
Best ov luck nico
If anything its news like this that a quality youth player is leaving due to a lack of opportunities in the first team makes me appreciates the tremendous talents of Rambo, Jack, Chambo and Theo. The way they broke into the first team at such young ages, maintained their spots through their own hard work and the faith and vision of the manager, and are now integral members of a team topping the PL so early in their careers shows just how ridiculously skilled they are. If my gut feelings are right, our young man Gideon will make a similar… Read more »
And Gibbo. How could I forget Gibbo.
Would Arsenal have first option on buy back???
Good luck Nico! I hope you have a good career and thanks for your service!
Good luck to him. I have to admit I haven’t seen him playing that many times, but when I did he resembled to Flamini a bit in my eyes – strong, determined tackling yet a bit more pacey than the usual holding midfielders plus the ability to fill into the full back roles, etc. He did not have any realistical chance to break through right now, sadly, but I hope we included a buy-back option in his contract should he fulfill, or even exceed his potential.
Hmm, there goes the mascot.
I’ve rated Nico from what we saw of him. Does make you excited that if he can’t break into the first team, we must have some decent youngsters competing for the first team places. All the best to him.
sad to see a fan of the club leave. but he needs his game time, maybe one day he can be back when he proves his worth.
