Kos & Ros delighted by derby day win

Tomas Rosicky and Laurent Koscielny hailed Arsenal’s determination and team ethic as the Gunners produced a resilient 1-0 win away at Sp*rs.

Arsene Wenger’s side were far from their best at White Hart Lane but after the Czech’s early strike they managed to repell attack after attack from the home side to see out the victory.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Rosicky remarked: “It’s a great result. Derbies are always tough, so it means a lot to us. We’re delighted.”

On his goal, he added, “It’s one of the best…against Tottenham for sure. I’m delighted by a goal like that. Most importantly, we won the game.”

“It’s a great race [for the title]. I’ve said many times, it’s going to go right to the end of the season. Every game is very important.”

Meanwhile Koscielny, who was voted man of the match, praised the effort of his teammates while also paying tribute to his partnership with Per Mertesacker.

“We tried to play but you know Adebayor he’s a good player. It was difficult. He’s good in the air but I think we worked very hard. All the players tried to give 100%, we know it’s a derby and derbies are for winning.

“We [Per and I] communicate well on the pitch, but we do the work for the team. When we work hard, we can win so we have to keep this unto the end of the season.”

A Yank in King Arsene's West Stand

Ha! Adebayor is such a twat. Mertescielny immense as ever. NORTH LONDON IS RED!!!

Just A Gentleman

Next Saturday, all of London will be RED! ARSENAL <3

Exiledgooner

With white sleeves, of course!

SB

That would be wonderful on so many levels – that fucker has never lost home game in PL, Chelsea’s title challenge will suffer an immense block, Mourinho would go mental.

Hope our contingent all wear protective goggles, there could be some eye gouging!

Witoldo

9 point advantage with a game in hand! Only 8 games left for Sp*rs. You know what this means…St. Totteringham’s Day (and a UCL place) looks like it might come early this year!

Szczesny's Selfies

I just fucking love this team. Post match antics, and charity with the tops and gloves just makes me smile.

Mick

I loved Pod trying to get Ros to face the camera, and his subsequent shyness.

Also Szcz with the cellphone, filming the crowd jumping about. How great is that!?

John

Ros actually made his way past the barricades to give his shirt to a disabled supporter, along with a massive hug. What a fucking bloke!

Arsepedant

That was just such incredible class.

Arsene Nose

Could tell the win meant a lot to all the players.. Such passion deserves titles.. COYG!!

Gunner From Another Mother

“We know it’s a derby and derbies are for winning”

That has to be one of my favorite quotes…derbies are for winning. COYG

Wrighty's Gold Tooth

Have it my sons!

Double98

This is great… An arsenal win and enough moral victory in defeat for sp*rs to convince them that next year will be their year.

Top 4 me hole

rossi88

Arsenal to beat chelsea and man city. And liverpool to do same. between us and liverpool to win league. Great premier league

Whispering Whippersnapper

Fuck Liverpool and the divers that their club spawn!!

neutral

I love Arsenal, but Pool have been playing the best football in the league since the new year. Their movement is outstanding and the players are just clicking. I think Rogers looks like a giant penis, but I can’t deny that his teams play above their potential, both at Swans and now at Pool.

If Arsenal take 12 points from their next 4 games then I think Pool will be our title rivals, except they have twice our goal difference

The Ox is a fox

we have beaten them twice. OK, we lost a damn one.

Teams will figure out their game soon.

Time will tell

Rufusstan

If we take 12 points from the next 4, we will have got past both City and Chelsea, while Liverpool still having both left to play.

Get those 12 points (or close) and its not going to be about goal difference, but if they have the balls when it goes to the wire.

Jack's Right Foot

Mertesacker was just unbeatable. God I love him.

AfricanGooner

Either Kos or the BFG have to be our player of the season, they’ve been the difference for us in so many games! Love them to bits!

COYG

Rufusstan

Not fair to pick either.

Think player of the year will have to go to Merticielny instead.

Jack's Right Foot

Perent Koscesacker. Phwoarr.

Bould's Eyeliner

I’d give it to Bosscielny if he wins the league for us with a late strike, the same way he clinched 4th for us with a late strike 2 years in a row. Massive composure.

Bergkamp's statue

Koscielny would have saved the titanic

Mimir

BFG would have intercepted the iceberg before it hit the ship mate

heroldgoon

With Bendtner there to rub himself against the titanic ofcourse.

Exiledgooner

I would watch that film.

Bergkamp's statue

Koscielny and mertesacker would have saved the titanic

SquishyNick

18 years and counting of supremacy. We plateau as they peaked in previous seasons. Now normal service resumes. 1-0 ugly win, love it! No plan B? Bollocks!

Toby C

If only Tommy was 23 instead of 33. Love him! Well done to Mertescienly once again! and well done to all the boys. Great battling performance and 3 massive points! COYG!!!

Rufusstan

You are only as old as you feel, and right now he is playing like he feels he is 23.

If he can be 23 for 60-70 minutes a game and be subbed before the belief runs out; long may he stay.

Toby C

Agreed, and unusually his long-term injuries are benefiting us as his body has undergone less punishment than most players his age. I just wish he could play for us for another 12 years 🙂

kasozi brian

it was the best score for me from Ros, great job Gunners just keep the spirit.

leksang

So as am I, ” it’s derby and always tough game. We are delighted” myself soaked and dipped in happiness. thanks ROCKSY.

KaftaOnTheShores

With a performance like that if you think we can win vs chelsea , you’re deluded.

heroldgoon

Agreed. if we turn up at chelsea like we did today wwe will get beat. no 2 ways about it.

That said im glad we got all 3 points today seeing as next weekend on this evidence we will have a torrid time, this time against a much better team.

Toby C

I don’t remember Chelsea being particularly brilliant against Villa! Every team has off days.

neutral

They will be without Ramires and William, no? I think it could make a difference, I have bad memories of Ramires running through our midfield. Certainly tough with all our injuries, what a shame if this year is another case of what could have been if everyone had stayed fit and/or Wenger bought that top top striker we’ve needed for 2 years.

Dick Swiveller

Yeah, we need to take our chances against the big teams but show the same fight and solidity with a bit more clinicality and we’re away.

Mimir

Err that might be because of the heavy legs from the exertions in Munich. I am more worried about City match that comes after Swansea midweek. We’ll be rested against Chelsea (who’ll hopefully strecthed to ET due to a Drogba dive)

mashkeyboardgetusername

City do play on the same night as us, so won’t have any more rest time. They do obviously have a deeper squad, but they’re playing Manure so most of their best players should be starting. (Whether Manure can give them enough of a game to tire them at all is another matter, of course…)

The Ox is a fox

we’ll have a full week to recharge. they will have to work hard against Gala… and what more? two of their most dangerous players will be suspended.

Chairman Meow

oh do shut up, pessimism is not needed nor wanted.

Goonerestgooner

It wasn’t pretty, but 3 points in the bag is all that matters.
And Rosicky may not be 23, but he certainly plays like it.

Goonerestgooner

@kafta, I reckon everyone knows if we play like that against chelski, we’re likely to lose.
That’s why we’re gonna play much better.

It's Up For Grabs Now!

Re not beating Chelsea. Did anyone see how they played yesterday? Overrated and key players suspended. There for the taking. But let’s just enjoy today shall we?

Drew10

Personally I thought Per was Man of the Match.

WengersNoseHair

Per and Kos. It’s a bit like choosing which is your favourite bollock.

Mick

If there’s to be a song, I would prefer them to share one!

locksley444

We got a Big fucking german and a quick fucking Frenchman(another word here?)!!

Sujan

Personally I prefer Adebayor to Giroud. He is a cunt but how hard did he work today?

Dick Swiveller

Yeah, if Adebayor fought like that every game for the club he wouldn’t be staring permanent Europa League football in the face but be at a top team actually playing a role in winning trophies.

I’m sure he’s happy with the cash and only having to put a shift in when he needs a new contract or wants to prove a point though.

readberk

That cunt from Togo…?

shakes head in disbelief*

shivers*

moves on*

Fin

Yea and in a weeks time when he decided Sherwood attacked his hamster in a dream and he needs to leave the club for fear of his life and pushes for a move what then? That lad is the utter definition of cunt he’s in the mouriniho bracket for me. Absolutely nothing but trouble and horribly overrated. We did so well to get 25 million or whatever pocket change it was city threw at us.

neutral

I believe they paid us 25,000,001

gunnerjoe

Idiot

Gargoyle

Giroud also works hard, however he has limited potential. Adebayor is the better footballer but he is a fucking cunt.

Neil

Per was magnificent. Kos was a monster. Sagna must sign a new contract.

If we want the title we need to do better. Spurs are shite. Hope Ox is ok (not again FFS).

TR7 > CR7
chydy

Let’s beat Chelski at stamford bridge next weekend and title is for us to win.

Salty

Kos and Per are breeze blocks cemented into a solid brick wall! The whole team attacked and defended together today, brilliantly.

Atletico Islington

Did Koscielny really say “unto”?!

Remarkable, remarkable man.

palace gunner

A good win & eased pressure of tough
Games recently, nice shot tomas from outside box, the style of play showed but at least gunners won n. London derby, c/lge exit over happy birthday theo today 2 i am pressed with the way afc played bayern a tactic maybe could rock chavs .

Strevs

Massive win considering the effort they gave against Munich on Wednesday. At the very least should seal a top4 finish. It keeps the title race going, even if we don’t win the league, it’s progression, and with a world class striker to come in next year, we have laid solid foundations.
Now to beat Chelski – who will be missing radivez/rastampez and Willian.

David

Wonderful 3 points and while not taking anything away from the win, it pains me each time I see Giroud spearhead the arsenal attack. I know he puts in his best but we need a better player there.

Tsardom

Real proud! Showed grit and determination today Despite hurting (all the injuries ALL YEAR!) they refuse to quit. Yes it was an ugly win, but hasn’t it been said in the past “the great teams win the ugly games”. Let’s stop talking about Chelsea like they are world beaters and believe in our boys. Hopefully in the next few weeks we will get past this injury nightmare and finish strong to the title. If we can’t believe in our gunners, what can we believe in?

Hi-brid

Loving the fact there’s a Spurs fan with arms aloft in this picture.

Too Drunk To Be Offside

First off there was a sense of calm when Sp*urs were pushing as if one knew that the def would hold out. Rarely have experienced that. Also regardless of the league I believe that a top 4 finish + the FA Cup would be a good season, and while a double would be ideal obviously, but the former scenario would not be a bad foundation to push on for the next season. If I had to pick a team to finish top I would say on form it appears to be Liverpool, and they are playing exceptionally well but they… Read more »

Spudz=Cunts

ghanagunner

I don’t get how some people remain fans with that fickle mind they have. I guarantee had Ramsey and Walcott been fit we won’t see as much blind bashing of players like Giroud and Özil. We have had to alter our approach but I still believe we can stumble through.

Bob

What a strike from rosicky and a well deserved win in the end bring on Chelsea they can be the next victims and we beat them and win our game in hand then we are two points above them get in

Goonerestgooner

Subliminal messages at shite fart lane.
That picture has the words “our” and “under” in the background.
Forever “under” “our” shadow.

Goonerinthepilbara

Just watched the news and it’s all about Liverpool fuk them
The reporters fuk them
All you half arsed supporters who whinge moan and bang on about our short comings fuk you
SUPPORT our team our players who just seem to be getting better and better
Arsen Wenger And Steve bould will get us thereBELIEVE
Oh I almost forgot fuk spurs, that cunt from Chelsea oops I mean all those cunts at Chelsea man city and especially all those 2faced cunts who left us to follow their bank balances

heroldgoon

That is pretty fucking massive from Super TOM!

birdinggooner

Was anyone else witness to or on the receiving end of threats of violence from pea-brained Sp*rs numpties on their way out of the ground? My nephew tells me some guy threatened him with a knife. Reported this to the local Constabulary. Their response? Just said they’d “keep an eye on him” – no attempt to search the idiot. Another response from the Police was that, “If you lot would shut-up, then there wouldn’t be a problem!”. So you are not allowed to enjoy a win because of a few over-sensitive souls? Inadequate and pathetic policing.
