After an amazing day at Wembley here’s what the manager and his main men had to say about the 3-2 win over Hull City…
___
Arsene Wenger: There is no bigger pleasure and happiness than when things looks lost, and you win it again,” he told Arsenal Player. The only thing is that it shortens your life! But for all the rest there is no bigger happiness.
“We made a demonstration on how not to start a final, and also a demonstration on how to come back. I always said during the season that there is a special togetherness and a special spirit to the side and the players wanted so much to do well. I am very pleased, and very proud of them.
“It was more important than all the others [titles], because even though we won the Double [in 1998 and 2002] we were not under the pressure we were under today. We were under severe pressure to win and we didn’t start well. Hull started strong and we were hesitant.
“It’s a big moment of happiness. We waited for a long time for that. The happiness and suffering is linked to the time you’ve had to wait. It was a great moment at the end of the game.”
___
Mikel Arteta: “The manager’s speech at half-time was brilliant. [He told us] to keep believing in how we should do it and keep performing. He told us to stay calm.
“We had done the most difficult thing, which was to score the first one [after going two down] so now the game was open, we had plenty of time to do it, we could not rush it. It was brilliant, I think the lads continued to play and we showed a lot of experience and composure. I’m really happy, it’s a happy day. I’m glad overall for the players because they deserve it, for the manager and for the club in general and the fans.”
“This club has got every resource to do better than what we’ve done in the last nine years so hopefully we can build from here. We’ve got some young talent with a lot of experience at their age. So to get through these moments is going to be very important for their careers.”
___
Tomas Rosicky: “It is really [exhausting] even when you are not playing, you are living with the team. I played 15 minutes and I feel like I’ve played two games in a row. The emotions played quite a big part as well. It was a very long wait for me and I’m delighted and the whole team is delighted. The whole club needed the trophy so we are glad it’s behind us.
“Hull started very well, they were very aggressive, they made the spaces tight for the boys to create something but you could see when the game went on they were more tired. After I came on with Jack and we had the power and pace to try to make the difference.
“It must be [a springboard]. Mainly for the English boys who [have been here] since they were youngsters, they are not the youngsters anymore, so all these boys like Jack, Walcott, Chamberlain, Gibbo, Carl Jenkinson, for them it’s very important they have something. We have to take this for next season.”
___
Per Mertesacker: “It’s pretty hard [to describe my emotions]. It’s a big relief, everyone is really exhausted but very happy. We tried to keep nice and calm and maybe later we will realise more what happened.
“I think I was always positive. I thought we could come back. They scored twice very early so there was always a big belief in each other that we could come back. It was vital that we kept going and everyone thought we were going to come back for sure.
“Our character was vital and, as you could see, the team effort was massive. We lost a few games and lost the Premier League… but we came back and responded well, we sealed fourth place and we came back this time [in the final]. That is something really special. The team are very proud of that.”
___
Aaron Ramsey: “It was mind-blowing [scoring the winner]. I have dreamt about this day for many years as a young kid coming through and it hasn’t quite sunk in yet.
“I’m more delighted for the team that we have actually won a trophy this year. I think we have deserved it. The manager deserves it as well – he has stuck by his players over the past few years after we were questioned a few times. He never had any doubt in us and we believed in ourselves as well and hopefully this will now be the start of many.
“We knew ourselves that Cazorla’s free-kick was important and we always believed we had time to get back into the game. You could that they were dropping off a bit but I felt that we were in control and we took advantage of that in the end.
“In the second half of extra time, at 2-2, things are going through your mind about penalties. It was important to try and keep going even though the legs didn’t want to and I managed to get into the box and score the winner.”
___
Jack Wilshere: “It’s amazing, I’ve won the FA Youth Cup before but it’s nothing like this.We never do it easy. Sitting on the bench I felt sick after the first 10 minutes, but we always felt if we got the goal before half-time we would win it and it was a great free-kick from Santi (Cazorla). You could see at the end a few players had injuries but we dug in and carried on.
“All the credit goes to the boys – it was easy for me to come and help us get across the line, but all credit goes to them. It’s been a long nine years for the fans – they fill the Emirates every week and this is for them.”
We love you Arsenal
We do. Ohhhhhh arsenal we love you.
In other news, it’s now confirmed that Jose Mourinho will not be driving Arsenal’s bus during the parade today. He only has experience in parking them.
Moronho is a specialist in driving failure.
off-topic : Are you guys able to load the main site? I’ve been trying for the past 3 hours but no luck so far.
Been having the same problem, I guess blogs is too busy celebrating to call the webmaster. Can’t blame him though COYG!!!
Koscielny a bloody beast. Scores important goals for us all the time. Definitely worth the new contract awarded.
An absolute gem of signing. Out of nowhere from Ligue 2. Classic Wenger signing.
Arsene knows 😀
I’ll say one thing about yesterday. The defensive errors and the nervousness in big games early on are fixable but the character and mental strength this team showed yesterday, you can’t buy that and the guys showed that they have that by the bucket load. As much as it was a terrifying way for us to watch and it was pure torture, I feel like it will give the team so much more belief winning the way they did rather than a straight forward 2-0/3-0.
Hopefully the only reason Arsene was delaying was because unless we won he didnt feel comfortable signing a long term contract and was thinking about signing a 1 or 2 year deal. However, now that we’ve won I hope he’ll be encouraged to sign a new 4 year deal. I’ve always said he’s the right man for the job. There will be something so satisfying about seeing him standing above the armoury today at the stadium he sacrificed so much build. He took all the responsibility on his shoulders, kept us in the CL and competitive whilst we payed the… Read more »
I haven’t slept yet. Damn you boys, work going to suffer big time for yesterday. I love you all.
i love you too, you arsenal cunt
Yes, I’ve been unnecessarily stupid and not slept either!
I even went to Islington to be at the Town Hall to see the boys and be part of the celebrations. It was great, so much support. I think I shall sleep now.
Or maybe I’ll watch the match again first…
YOU Luckyyyyyyyyyyyy Mannnnnnnnn!!! You Dont know hw lucky you are….Sitting at home in INDIA and watching was such a pleasure but participating in Parade?? Wow!! Thank your stars
Brilliant come back, just to keep the likes of the media of our backs, excellent goal clearance off the line from Gibbs to keep it at 2-0 I’m really proud to be a Gooner,
In the words of Ozil in the post match celebrations – “Yar Gunners… Yar! Ohhh yaaaar!” Priceless. https://t.co/sOvF85lCvl
2011/12, he made the tackle of the season vs w.brom, and yesterday, the clearance of the season. Love ya Gibbo
Bliss…
Well done lads!!
Amazing! Thank you arseblog for keeping me informed as I was at a wedding! Looking forward now to watching the game later today!!
It was actually Mrs Arseblog doing the Live Blog and she was superb!
I especially loved this little gem on 120 minutes:
“Arsenal need to stay cool and play their football. Commentator needs tissues. Poor little guy. And by that I mean, tosser”
Beautiful, poetic and dismissive all in one line.
She was indeed. Sorry, I was just using the term arseblog generically! The misery as I sat down to eat and we fell 2-0 down inside 8 minutes was unbearable and I risked ruining the day for everyone on my table, but it turned into an unforgettable day!!
That being said I really hope we kick on from here, starting with the transfer window. Micah Richards/Elaquim Mangala/Curtis Davies/Ashley Williams if Vermaelen departs. Seamus Coleman/Serge Aurier for Sagna. Javi Martinez (and no please don’t tell me this is impossible, you want to show ambition? This is exactly the type of signing you make)/Luis Gustavo/Lars Bender (better than Sven IMO). And that world class striker, Cavani/Falcao/Immobile (how funny would that be, we want a mobile striker next to Giroud and we go and buy Immobile), we already missed out on Drmic. Another speedy winger is also welcomed but I don’t… Read more »
Sorry my friend. All I could muster was reading Ashley Williams and hitting that big red thumbs down. I love you though
Are you serious?
WE WON THE FA CUP WHY ARE YOU FOCUSING ON TRANSFERS
WHY
CHAMPIOOOOOOOOOONS
In the modern game transfers are the most important thing. The main thing that fans and critics alike talk about when they think of Arsenal, is not the fact that in the last 10 years, the club was basically rebuilt from top to bottom, but how much money is spent. That’s what’s important….
fuck you.
WE WONN!!!!!!! YAAAAHHHH
@Welshman, Sp*rs spent 100M last summer.
How important did that turn out to be?

it could be worse… hahaha
Stevie G peeping round the corner.
Heh.

18 hours without a trophy 😉
That’s too long.
not that bad 13 hour ….. what 13 hour wenger hat, hot, out dont remenber witch one 😉
Now say that again in English
As a fan the feeling of winning a trophy is out of this world. I can’t even begin to think what it would mean to the players. When they come back to Colney after the WC/summer-break and see themselves on the wall holding the cup, see the trophy resting in the cabinet, they’ll definitely feel the pride and the desire to do it again. Next season “We go Again!” 😉
And not to forget, big thanks to Mrs. Bl0gs for the live text yesterday.
It was an emotional rollercoaster watching the Arsenal yesterday. I was just numb for the the first 10 minutes. Santi’s goal was so important. The introduction of Yaya and Tomas and Jack was so meticulously done and swung the match in our favour. Kos redeemed himself yesterday and the Giroud back heel I wouldnt forget for a long time to set up Ramsey’s strike. I am just so
happy and hope its the start of better things to come. These squad has written their name in the history books.
The difference between Arsenal’s bus and Chelski’s bus is that Chelski’s bus is still parked while Arsenal’s will be driving around North London on our victory parade !!!!! So to all you Spuds fans out there, that’s right I’m talking to both of you I hope you did your shopping yesterday cuz North London will be closed today. Great win boys enjoy the day. Proud to be a Gooner since 1970.
North London is redder than ever today.
But more importantly Tim Sherwood is buzzing.
I’m just gonna leave this here… http://sincespurslastwonatrophy.co.uk/
Happy sunday, everybody. What a fantastic day to be a gooner.
That website won’t get a lot of hits, trophies aren’t expected of small clubs
I had almost forgotten what this felt like. Can’t actually remember the last time I was this happy either. Specialist in failure? Please.
A variation on a chant I saw on twitter, credit to whoever came up with it. To the tune of “This old man”:
2-0 down, 3-2 up
Arsenal went and won the cup
Take your 9 years, shove it up your hole
Ramsey with the winning goal
I’m still buzzing. That was an experience. When I look back at my final year university marks I’ll look at a couple of the poor ones as “the sunny FA cup weekend exams”, and that’s fine with me.
Now is not the time for transfer talks, now is the time for celebrations!!!.. Victory Parade Ooooooooooooooh!
Woke up from a wonderful dream that we won the cup….oh we did win. Welsh Jesus was awesome, can he do anything for my monster hangover?
Thank mr wenger for believing in aaron when many had no faith. Onwards to charity shield and deal with the Northern Arabs.
I am absolutely over the moon with the result and 110/120 minutes of that performance but it scares the shit out of me that we cannot start the big big games properly. Something is categorically lacking in the team, against a better opponent I worry that we may not have been able to recover such a terrible start to a game.
Over. The. Moon. But if we want to push on and challenge for the big big trophies then we need to stop making life hard for ourselves
I’m more than half-convinced we’ve got one of the best central defenders in the world in Koscielny. His ratio of important goals to unimportant must be 500% higher than anyone else’s in the world too
What makes it so much sweeter is that we waited 9 years for this.
What makes it so much sweeter is that we went 2 nil down and still won.
What makes it so much sweeter is that Ramsey, the man who we wanted out 18 months ago, scored the winning goal in the FA Cup final.
What makes it so much sweeter is that Huddlestone and Livermore looked dejected and heartbroken!
COYG!
And sweeter still Lee ‘the probe’ won’t collect his check for fixing!
Jack felt sick after ten minutes?
I guess he wasn’t the only one.
Great half-time talk, great subs at exactly the right moments. Wenger was 11/10 yesterday
WOW that is all
THIS IS ARSENAL BRING ON THE PARADE YOU BEAUTIFUL CUNTS!
I’m not beautiful
I don’t understand why you got downvoted for this haha
Finally finally finally.
Big players stepped up when needed. Like the fucking Bosscielny. Cazorla.big big moment in the first half. The Welsh Jesus, whom I am so fucking proud of.
The Arsenal Team – Which includes ARSENE,Players,Staff and We the “GOOOOOOONNEERRRSSSS”
All throughout yesterday I was walking around Stellenbosch wearing my Arsenal shirt, and even though there were quite a few more Arsenal fans around than usual (meh) the vibe amongst us were amazing. I did the “she wore a yellow ribbon” chant with a bloke while in line at the supermarket to buy smokes! Beautiful, beautiful day, I’m still not completely sobered up. Good God I love this team.
That bit where Arsene said that the pressure he felt was mainly down to wanting it desperately for the fans was fantastic – just brilliant. Just look at his face when he says it. He loves Arsenal as much as any of us.
More than any of us would be more precise…
Watching the match from across the globe…the time stretching beyond midnight til almost dawn…including the medal presentation…wow wow wow!! What a ride! What a bloody mentally challenging ride!! But overall it was indeed a fantastic Final…and looking back I dont think I want it anyway else.
It wld be so boring if for example Arsenal us leading by 3-0 & cruising. It would be so so unfun.
Well done lads. Proud to be a gooner today!!
No post from Fatgooner?
Sincefatgoonerpostedonarseblog.com
Grow up mate, do you really have to pick fights now? This is a brilliant time for all gooners, spare us the bickering.
And you need to chill the fuck out we won the cup!
@fabulous: Do you know what a hypocrite is? lol
So happy for the team, really well done.
Starts argument to stop people arguing!?
Please look below.
Fuck me, I’ve watched Ramsey’s goal many many times now, he knew what Giroud was gonna do before he did it otherwise there’s no way he could have reacted so quickly in such a tight space….just wow!!! I fucking love this team. Here’s to jack busting out of his cocoon next season like Ramsey did this year. Now Arsene, time for 4 big money signings and we can all forget about the past 9 years.
Ramsey is better then Bale!!!!!
Pride to Hull city and Prize to the Arsenal. It was nice to see Koscielny and BFG lift the trophy together during the presentation ceremony.Kocielny was a man possessed.Even after suffering an injury the bloke carried on.Even when Hull forwards had a yard or two on him,Kos made up for it with his blistering pace on more than one occassion.Clearly the best defender in the league this year.Special mention to Yaya sanogo.Though unconventional one could clearly see he gave the hull defenders an extra body to deal with at the front.Though he huffed and puffed in climbing the stairs,it was nice… Read more »
Does anyone know why theo wasn’t there? Saw the other injuried players apart from him?
Probably because his wife had a baby not so long ago. There was a video on the Arsenal YouTube account in which the players called Theo via Facetime after the final but it’s been removed now weirdly.
It’s back now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsdHB2iBXoI&list=UUpryVRk_VDudG8SHXgWcG0w
Guys. Am from India. Can anyone pls tell me on which site the parade be streamed?
I have for so long seen the photos of other cunt (read as manu and citeh) parade, I want to experience Us parading around north London.
God I wish I was in London now
you can see it on arsenal.com.. they will be showing it live.
Hey Nikhil , you can catch it live on arsenal player from arsenal.com . You can make a free account and watch. Hope I helped.
Loving this downward spiral!!!
2 nil down 3-2 up, yo mourinho wassup. COYG!!
Tom’s interview wouldn’t have made any sense if the editor didn’t fill in the gaps with bits in brackets! Hilarious.
I think Theo might have been given paternity leave?
Theo the legend, V-0
Just woke up still looking through blurred eyes. FANFUCKINGTASTIC!!!!!!!
By the way, where was bouldy yesterday? I dont remember seeing him at ala
Talk of him for the west brom job which I’d like to see happen as I don’t want him succeeding Wenger without having some proper managerial experience behind him… Still did the interview have to be yesterday?
Next to Wenger
The more you watch the winning goal, the more you think that it has to be the goal of the season or at least the defining goal of the season. Jack’s through ball, Giroud’s brilliant back heel and Welsh Jesus’s world class finish! Not to mention the importance of the goal to Arsenal! Anyone for Rambo as Player of the season? #COYG
Iv noticed this rather disturbing trend: Yaya was involved in that goal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why are people missing that fact so much?
Our trophy is back! Now ‘bring back our girls’ to complete my hapiness
This has to go down as one of the best FA cup finals. And Rambo’s fantastic goal was one worthy of winning a final. So pleased for him and the fact he is now part of FA cup and Arsenal history.
I am a South African gooner. My team here is Orlando pirates. Both teams won FA cup finals. Both teams are hampered by competition from a billionaire. I am doubly happy doubly drunk
From the lowest of lows to highest of highs! Arsenal sure like to do things the hard way. Still grinning like the cat that got the cream! Spent 4 hours outside the Emirates chanting and hi fiving Arsenal fans near the Armoury roundabout! I have no voice this morning and the toothpaste tasted of jaeger.COME ON YOU GUNNERS
