Mesut Ozil’s absence from the German squad to face Scotland this evening will raise worries over the former Real Madrid man’s availability for next weekend’s game against Man City.
Ozil hurt his ankle in the final stages of the Leicester game and required lengthy treatment on the sideline. Had the Gunners not already used their three subs, the chances are he wouldn’t have come back on.
Despite hope in the German national set-up that he might be fit for tonight’s game, his absence will be a concern for Arsene Wenger as his team get ready to face the champions at the Emirates on Saturday.
It’s also possible that he’s just not quite fit enough for today and could be recovered for the weekend, let’s keep fingers crossed for that.

I know he hasn’t been firing on all cylinders as of yet, but damn it.. we need that little bug eyed pass master fit for the weekend, we’ll need his passing skills if we are going to have any hope of breaching City’s defence…. the humongous mass that is Vincent Kompany’s forehead.
I’m expecting big things from him this season. He has had a full season to acclimatize and now has pacy runners for his through balls. I’ve kinda stayed off the criticism so far but come the end of the season he really cannot have any excuses.

barring one.. if he is not played in his natural position and is utilized on wing, I think he can be excused.
He’s a world class player on his day, but against Leicester he looked very poor and contributed nothing to the team. I know he was played out of his favored no.10 role, but he should done better. This raises doubts in my head as to whether he should be fielded against Man City.
Every game he misses, or plays badly in, I just think of Fabregas.

I love ozil and I think he’s just amazing on his day but any games against the top 5 are gonna be 6 pointers this (and every year it seems from now on).
I would rather rosicky or cazorla in the number 10 for those games regardless of ozils fitness state. Bring him on if you have to later on but we have a criminal lack of urgency at the start of big games and it starts at the front, 10, midfield to the defence.

What the Arsenal needs is goals. We need those at more regular intervals to give us that bit of settling in that comes after a confidence building run of results. I think Ramsy and Sanches has scored the bulk of the goals thus far. We need goals from the other guys as well to add to the unpredictability of our attack. With Giroud out for a few months, it leaves even most Arsenal fans uncertain of how the players will line up.
