Arsene Wenger admits Arsenal have missed Aaron Ramsey’s box-to-box dynamism and confirmed that his medical team have finally found the cause of the muscular problems that have plagued him since August.
The Welsh midfielder has been sidelined four times this season, on three occasions with a dicky hamstring, but is fit to partake in Wednesday night’s game against QPR.
Speaking ahead of the trip to Loftus Road, the boss backed the Gunners’ 2014 Player of the Year to find his feet quickly.
“[We’ve missed] his energy level, his transitional play from offence to defence and from defence to attack and his box-to-box qualities.
“When you have a repetition of muscular injuries, in can put the handbrake on your body a little bit. To get rid of that is a psychological problem.
“I don’t think he suffers from that, looking at him in training. Certainly, you lose a bit of confidence in your body.”
Back in February Wenger admitted he and his medical team had been left stumped by Ramsey’s situation, stating: “There is an underlying reason that is medical or bio-mechanical, because he’s a guy who is serious and works hard. There is no obvious reason why he should have muscular injuries.”
Asked this morning if the club had made progress in the last month, Wenger noted (with a coy grin on his face) that the news is positive: “We think yes [we’ve found the cause of the problem].”
When asked whether he’d share the details, he made clear, “No.”
They didn’t ask us – we’re not doctors – but we reckon having your leg literally snapped in two by a massive c*nt didn’t help. Either way Arseblog News is off to the bookies to put a suitcase of cash on Ramsey doing his hamstring against tomorrow. We kid, we kid. Sort of.
Hopefully the lad will be walking on water again soon…
Yes, Mr Goodlooking is back!
I’m sure they just removed a couple of buttons (or a zip maybe) like Jack.
Sorted.
*sigh*
*unzips*
I’ll join you, I can’t use the Internet without unzipping. So sad.
Miss you Welsh Jesus!
Was it the pompadour and the hair products adding all that weight his hamstring couldn’t handle? I knew it!
I had always just assumed they had put it on back to front. It happens…should use different mountings at either end.
RAAAMSEEEEY!! Still goosebumbs..
We really have missed Rambo’s ability as a box-to-box midfielder. Frustrating stop-start season for him and it would have been ridiculous to expect the same numbers from him this term, last season was a freak. Not to say that it was a fluke, quite the opposite. He’s a great player and we have lacked a lot of balance without him in the team. Hopefully he can be the glue in midfield because this will liberate Santi to do what he does best in the final third. If he can stay fit until late May we have a realistic shot at… Read more »
My blood boils when I think of that leg break tackle. Effin orc crunts
Maybe aaron should try them straps bale uses are the spandix under shorts that cunt rvp uses. They seem to help them two
Your examples show that they sometimes work on ‘cunts’ but would they work for the welsh jesus?
His post-match interviews are, for me anyway, sorely missed. Used to make my hair stand on end at times.
Welcome back Aaron.
calm down h0m0
Laughed out loud at this comment!
can’t help thinking that consistent reliance on him in the starting XI is a contributing factor??
I may be wrong, but I feel like it is only recently with Theo and a few others that Arsene is learning the lesson of gentle re-introduction of a player post-injury
Hey maybe we’ll solve the Diaby theorem now.
(Games played)² x (Injuries suffered)² = (Dan ‘c*nt’ Smith)²
I reckon Arsene’s broken down Diaby for spare parts by now.
Hopefully we are getting back the real Aaron Ramsey that terrorised teams last season, not the evil twin we see on occasion.
He may not be the free scoring Rambo of last season but as Wenger says his box to box ability has been missed, I feel him and Coq could become a top top quality center mid pairing
We’ve definitely missed his athleticism in midfield, and i feel he will go a long way to restore our midfield balance. Will be interesting to know what that means for özil/Cazorla or maybe Alexis if we wanna rest him.
On a side note; read on here a while ago that Giroud had said he worked on imroving hos body language for psychological reasons, anyone else feel Özil could do something similar? ArsecastExtra touched on how it’s often his body language that makes him a target for fans and pundits.
It might help against some people, but the criticism would still continue as he’s unlikely to stop being a German/Turkish muslim any time soon, so the Mail probably still wouldn’t be satisfied.
And really he’s here to win football matches. He’s not here to “look” like he’s trying hard on the pitch. There are hundreds of Premier league footballers who “look” like they’re trying really hard and are nowhere near as effective as him. Most haven’t played for Real Madrid or won a World Cup, something Mesut Ozil has been able to achieve because football is his life.
He drove me nuts when he and the team weren’t doing well, but Ozil’s demeanour and body language are not the windows into his soul that people think they are.
Spot on mate!
Agree with what all of you are saying, but the point I was making had more to do with the idea that he would play better if not for the preassure he “invites” with his body language sometimes. I support Mesut and love him as a player, but the best players in the world improve their weaknesses and he falls into that category for me.
Giroud was talking about the staff not liking it when he performs like that. Ozil was a success at Real Madrid, so despite a large number of shitty Arsenal fans, there’s no need to worry about whether he can handle the pressure. But lay off him, nonetheless.
Well said. Much as I love Arsecast it just felt like they wandered into some idiotic territory with nothing better to say.
You would have thought by now everyone could see one reason is his peculiar shyness. He has never been over-demonstrative and can get almost embarrassed scoring and drawing attention to himself’.
…and re your reply to your post Giroud specifically was talking about when he misses he has a ‘routine’ he goes through. It’s a bit amateur dramatics, head in hands gasping with exasperation and often takes a few distracted seconds to work through.
His point was apart from the drama queen aspect, he knows a cooler exterior reflects a cooler more focused demeanor.
Many of us are hoping if Olivier can work this out of his system, he can pass his notes to Wilshere…
Re Wilshere I also feel he needs to cut out his childish demeanor. He’s still young and I’m sure he’ll discard that with experience, because that angry toddler act he puts on when things don’t go his way will get him nowhere
So now, if a keeper saves his shot, he will stand there for 10 seconds giving the bastard the death stare.
“I’ll be back”
How we’re got to 3rd without Ramses is a huge credit to the squad. His meteoric form last season was the most enjoyment I’ve had watching us for nearly a decade.
Ramsey stands for so much of why I love the Arsenal! When all those cunts like Fab, Nasri and Rape van Placenta left this guy rose from the shadows of the stadium debt and took us 128 consecutive days to the summit of the PL almost taking on all that the sordid Gotham City oil barons could muster. For all the years that Fab was the architect of the good stuff that happened during operation youth he never won us a trophy- Rambo did. Rambo is one of the few players in the last 10 years that I can honestly… Read more »
Rambo had some bloody good players to help though. Players we couldn’t afford when Fab was around.
Fab played with Henry in a CL final and replaced Vieira in a team packed with Invincibles. You don’t get many players better than that.
the board/management is keeping true to their word. we have splashed the cash on players. we are spending millions on re-developing our facilities for injury prevention (which I think is absolutely critical to our success).
the rest is with the manager/players now…time for them to perform.
“First step, locate the hamstring”.
They were utterly buggered by that.
So just a small suitcase of cash then blogs?
Ha. You’re all mugs if you believe he wont suffer a recurrence!
What team do you support mate?
wonderful. lets solve the rest of the riddles now.
monsieurs diaby, wilshere, arteta, debuchy, flamini and isaac hayden
I reckon the problem was trying to play with a little bit the handbrake on.
It will be great to have Ramsey and Santi as box-to-box midfielders. They both offer different qualities and together with Coquelin, they really do form a complete midfield. I still think Wilshere is really suited to the system we have adopted now, would love to see how he acclimatizes.
Wilshere..hmmmmmmm…
come on arsenal…
Rambo to replace Cazorla in midfield. He needs a rest as he’s played many games.
Also, get men in blazers on your arsecast. It’d be a hoot!
I live in Canada (English born and bread), can’t believe how loud you were on NBC on weekend – I was thinking “who’s this muppet” haha. Reminds me of highbury back in the day with that hilarious black lady who would scream next to the camera every time Henry scored!
Really with the MiB? I don’t care for MiB at all; they seem like the product of a focus group on “America, do these seem like palatable football-loving Brits to you?” or something. Still upvoted you for everything else, though.
MiB are great at banter and puns, but definitely take the piss out of AFC at every chance. Of course their #1 goal is getting the game more exposure in the States, but their analysis skills and tendency to be huge homers makes me like them less.
I think I like MiB for the simplicity of them. Just two, genuine guys blabbering away to each other… We live in a world of microanalysis, where pundits try and be too clever with all their opinions. I find it quite refreshing two guys doing well for themselves across the pond with a bit of witty banter and likeable personalities. They’re hardly in the Durham, Savage, Owen hatred – how the fuck did they get on tv and radio.
The one thing I would never accuse pundits of would be being clever, having watched another game on BT this evening I can exclusively confirm that Owen’s head is completely empty.
Wenger’s reply to……. “have the players got the Monaco defeat out of their systems” ….beautiful!
No hamstring will stop Welsh Jesus.
How about the riddle of his very up and down form?! I struggle to see how injury niggles have led to him playing (in my opinion) as badly at times as he ever did when he was booed by idiots a few years back. Given the highs of last year I struggle to understand the wild variations in his form…..
I think the injuries did have an effect when he came back but the poor form of the team in general at the start of the season tempted him into trying to carry by streaming forward instead of actually doing his job, I hope he’s learnt from that.
Have you jear of the phrase “match fit”? Do you know what it entails?
That guy is handsome!
With our training facilities, squad, stadium and manager etc, we really are punching below our weight! As much as I dislike the self-righteous ‘special’ one we should be challenging every season on a higher level!
Well, this explains a lot!
Give ’em hell on Wednesday, Rambo!
Ramsey can find the zip and panache he played with again.
Santi is proof of that.
… but maybe not tonight. He’s only just back and he’s not going to be match fit so he won’t be at his very best. A good run out tonight would certain,y help him for the game on Monday though. I expect to see him back to some form after about 4-5 games. This is the reality of coming back from injuries.
The problem with Ramsey is, he goes full throttle each game. Always gets into great positions and looks to score. If he can reserve himself a bit and better apply positionally, he can be a top top player. I am sure, Arsenal will benefit immensely from him in the coming years. C’mon Aaron!
