According to premierinjuries.com, Aaron Ramsey is expected to be fine for Saturday’s trip to Burnley.
The Welsh international was substituted in the second half of the 4-1 win over Liverpool having taken a knock to his ankle. Laurent Koscielny, replaced by Gabriel just after the break on Saturday, could be short for the trip to Turf Moor although his groin problem is not thought to be serious.
Wojciech Szczesny looks set to miss out again with the rib injury that kept him off the bench last weekend, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain needs two more weeks in training before a first team return. The England midfielder hasn’t featured since the FA Cup victory at Old Trafford a month ago when he tweaked a hamstring. The club appear to be taking their time with him, given his recent history of problems.
In other news, Serge Gnabry, Mikel Arteta, Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby are all set to feature for the under-21s tonight when they take on Stoke City at the Emirates.
DISCLAIMER – We’ve only just stumbled across Ben Dinnery – a self-styled ‘Freelance Injury Data Analyst’ – but he’s been on the money recently regarding the squad’s fitness, so for the time being we’re happy to quote him as a source.
The Ox is such an exciting talent we have. He’s shown some really good stuff this season, just needs to add the end product to his game.
It’s a shame his progress has been hampered by injuries thus far, here’s hoping he has an injury free season next year. I can see him becoming a really important player for us in the years to come.
If he can get a full season under his belt injury-free, he’ll be that additional 15 goal player the boss wants.
Actually, you could say that of a number of our midfielders. If we could have a squad that stays as injury-free as the Chav cunts always do, we’d hit a hundred goals in a season.
Judging be his clinical finishing, you could say that about one of our fullbacks! (Hector Bellerin)
True, Bellerin has scored twice as many league goals this year as Balotelli has.
He could be the 15 goal a season player Wenger wants.
i have a dream .. and in that dream our team will stay fit.
Arsenal will be a real force in BPL next season. It will take more than Russian and Arab dollars to stop us. I have never been this excited about our team in a very long while…since ’07-’08 to be precise. These are my reasons 1. I see players like the Ox, Gnabry and others stepping up. 2. For the second year running, we approach summer and there is no rumour surrounding any of our key players; what a welcome departure from the lean years. Rather, we are being linked with the Cavanis, Higuains, Schnederlins and the Sterlings of this world,… Read more »
Alexis and Ooooossspina have some south american tournament for their respective countries but we know alexis is a super charged battery and even if he needs to get over the tournament hangover we have players to fill in ie Ox, Gnarby, Welbeck. Really don’t see Szczesny staying though 🙁 so if he is to leave we need a world class replacement ASAP ie Petr Cech.
And no Champions League qualifier v the likes of Besitkas…
you are right, but let’s win the FA Cup and run 2nd first … is Cavani really that good?
Ramsey looks ever so handsome in the picture.
Has Giroud got some competition going forward? 🙂
HWB!
This ever so clever joke works best when read with a Welsh lilt.
Shad is the man!
Is he handsome?
Nice to know we’re splashing out on some *Premier Injuries*. I’ll get my own hat and coat, thank you.
(Waits for obvious “footballing years” comment over Diaby playing for the U21s……)
Good one. He’s probably around 12 on that scale.
I actually can not comprehend what the hell we would do if everyone was fit. I guess it just means we’d have two sets of teams that would dick all over Sp*rs.
…and most others! COYG!
And our ladies team. And the U21s. I’m probably forgetting some.
A sustained, fit Ox on the right really could spell the final nail in Theo’s £100,000 a week coffin.
Most midfield in the PL are made of complete dicks… ours has an OX COQ
Sorry but for us to be title winners next year, Theo is part of the solution. He can provide 17 goals. I do not see the ox providing that. Let’s be honest.
Well bear in mind his future is billed as centre mid, so it’s not nailed on
I really miss the Ox. His dribble against Utd for Nachos goal keeps playing in my mind. I miss the sight of him and Alexis terrorizing defenses. That said, we aren’t short on fire power to take on Burnley. They will be hungry and desperate for points considering how tight it is for them at the bottom, but we should match that hunger or even exceed it considering how tight things are at the top! At this point in time we shouldn’t think about winning all our games to catch Chelski, we need to win all our games to keep… Read more »
assuming arsenal have ~50M in the bank to spend on transfers this summer, sell walcott, wilshere and jenkinson – they have all been absent this year and we haven’t missed them when the rest of the team has been fit. that should bring in an additional 40-50M and free up a lot of wages. what to do with the money? get pogba! sell podolski, campbell, sanogo, arteta, flamini, miyaichi and get schneiderlin. debuchy/bellerin gabriel/mert kos/chambers monreal/gibbs schneiderlin/coq pogba/ramsey ox/gnabry ozil/cazorla alexis/welbz giroud/akpom that’s a team with enough talent and depth to compete on all fronts. i’d keep ros if possible… Read more »
It both worries and amuses me how quickly Arsenal fans have been to turn on the brightest academy prospect we’ve had for years. In the same way as with Ramsey, i look forward to Wilshere turning it around and people like you running around telling everyone who’ll listen that you’ve backed them all the way.
I hope you are right mc1982 but Jack does have a tendency (when fit) to run with the ball into people and fall over a lot!
Just saying…
i haven’t turned on jack, but pogba and jack are the same age and jack is no where close to the player pogba is and by all evidence never will be. if there’s an opportunity to make that trade you’re crazy not too.
Except for the fact that Pogba would not stay here for long. One year, two years and he would be off to Barca or Real Madrid. Jack will be here for life. That should make a huge difference in why you would not make this trade.
not really. pogba will win us a couple titles and if he wants to go we sell him at his peak for a profit. ramsey will be at the top of his game at that time as well and ideally we’ll have a replacement for pogba identified. so what if jack will be at arsenal for life if he continues to perform at his current level and continues with the injuries. seriously – people wouldn’t trade jack for pogba??? let’s remember how loyal footballers are these days and it’s not jack being loyal to arsenal, it’s arsenal being loyal to… Read more »
Many ifs in your argument, and to be honest I would much prefer one of our own coming good with us than just buying the flavor of the moment. Seeking afobe score 28 goals this season (admittedly in lower divisions) should be a reminder of that.
Your argument about replacing wilshere with pogba is flawed. You admitted that getting pogba would be unlikely so where is the argument. I agreed that pogba is an upgrade to wilshere at the moment but he would cost at least 50million pounds and wages at 200000 per week. This is something we could afford atm but I am not convince we should splash all our summer transfer budget on one guy.
I like Pogba a lot but not too many players make the Series A to PL transition successfully. He will go to RM or Barca anyway.
A certain Dennis Bergkamp springs to mind…
a certain thierry henry springs to mind…
Hard Choices: you are arsene wenger, Ox and Wilshere are unhappy -they want to play. You can find space for one, but not for both. who do you sell?
In the flurry of great individual performances against europapool it’s easy to forget Ramsey was deployed on the right wing. 3 seasons ago, seeing Ramsey on the right wing of the teamsheet would have induced much groaning and moaning.
Now no one bats an eyelid because we know about his workrate and he does stuff like pirouette turns to set up an Alexis cannonball.
Clearly the “rib injury” is Arsene’s coded way of saying………. “lots of suitors keep poking him in the ribs saying come here with us”….. so his mind is not on the game….imo
Definitely should not rush Ramsey or Koscielny back against Burnley. They’ve been tough at home, but we’ve got Gabriel and Welbeck, Rosicky or Walcott that can step right in. Maybe have them on the bench for emergencies, but don’t risk them at this point with so much still on the line in the run in.
I am more concerned with Szczesny’s injury even though he is not playing. If Ospina gets injured (and he is prone to) we’re done.
Yeah, got me scared too, because the goalies are the most improved Arsenal players this season, and without them, we are well and truly done!!
OMG!
😉
…the way we are playing, we could put Wenger between the sticks!!!
Oh to be a….at this moment! COYG!
There wouldn’t be no more pressure for Jack now that majority of the players are fit, and hopefully he can blossom cause I really rate him.
Very happy to see Ramsey’s was just a knock. He was doing an impressive job on the right until then. It worried me to see him and Kos both go off. But the beauty of the new year is the quality and health of our squad!
Get well soon lads!
Let’s pause a second and think, we can’t just get excited and start thinking all is well now that most of our players are back from injury. Remember there must perfection made on the training ground and if that is taken straight to the games then we can start thinking ahead. But nonetheless I’m happy with our current form, it really makes Wenger’s critics keep their mouths shut. The most improved player for me has to be the Coq, he’s such a good DM. Ozil has been good as well, he’s starting to get some goals. We need to keep… Read more »
Ramsey is slowing playing his way to last season form. His scoring touch is still slightly off but I am sure he will recover that. In addition, our players like ozil, giroud, cazora,Monreal seems to have the mental capacity to improve themselves when the competition gets tough. Is such a plus that arsenal has such a huge squad that places are no longer guarantee regardless of your reputation. The better players will thrive under such circumstances and knows that every opportunity on the pitch should not be wasted and mediocrity is no longer tolerated.
i pray santi stays…
No prayers required, that article was rubbish.
Forgot we have Ox too. Really good times as a Gooner and for Mr Wenger too.
