After the two managers clashed on the touchline back in October’s meeting, Arsene Wenger has played down suggestions that Sunday’s game is a personal battle between himself and Jose Mourinho.
The pair have famously never got on and when Gary Cahill’s x-rated challenge on Alexis brought him out of his seat, he got involved in a pushing match with the Chelsea manager.
Naturally, the media like to stoke the fires ahead of this weekend’s game, but the Arsenal manager wasn’t going to be drawn when asked about his personal relationship with Mourinho.
“I don’t know and I don’t want to talk about that,” he said, “because what is important is when the game starts at four o’clock, to have a great game. That’s what English football needs, to know that Arsenal against Chelsea is a big game and is not about the relationship between the managers
“It’s not a confrontation of two managers, it’s a confrontation of two clubs, two teams. I’m not a great believer in history.
“I just think football is down to the fact that the performance on the day will decide the game and the result, so let’s focus on that.”
Arsenal come into the game in fantastic form, having reached the FA Cup final, and with victories in 2015 over Man City, Man Utd and Liverpool, and Wenger wants his team to continue that sequence against the blues on Sunday.
“We are on a good run and we have an opportunity to beat them at home, and we want to take it,” he said.
“From a good run of form you get a good belief and we have good solidarity. We know we have passed many tests recently where we were questioned, and we have another test on Sunday that we want to pass.”

Come on Arsenal
Fuck Chelsea. The end.
Rip rent boys
Mourinho – I hate that guy.
He needs another paddlin’ like he was given in that match when Barca thrashed Real Madrid 5-0.
A 5-0 victory would be nice. 🙂
Anything to get the ‘not beaten Mourinho’ story gone. Similar to the ‘not having won a trophy’ story. Though the mangers aren’t the focus, or shouldn’t be.
Would be a big boost for next season to beat Chelsea on Sunday, that’s the big thing to focus on.
Just out of interest the Chavs didn’t win a trophy for over 30 years until the Russian poured obscene amounts of money into the swamp they call Stamford bridge. I’m remarkably proud of the effect and impact Arsene has made on football and want Maureen’s face rubbed in the dirt on Sunday of course I’d love to see a 5-0 but I’d take a 1-0 win due to a contentious decision and laugh my ass off. I can’t stress enough how ruined my Sunday would be to see that poor mans George clooney smirking over a draw. Cry havoc and… Read more »
You mean ‘apart from the FA Cup and TinPot Cup’.
I meant the league actually but thanks for taking the time to post that important fact
Wasn’t it like 49 years? I remember a song from before they won their first ruble tainted title.
Cafrefree, wherever they may be, Chelsea aint got no history, Lampards fat, the rest are queer, haven’t won the league in 49 years.
Am I trippin?
Hope Wenger will beat the shit out of moaninho!
On the pitch! With class and perfection.
Either would do for me.
Let’s win the game by 14-0 and then see Wenger walk over to Jose with his hand extended only to retract it at the last moment and thumb his nose at him. Then Flam sneaks up and hoofs him in the nuts from behind.
Wenger looks like an eagle. Mourinho looks like a weasel. Eagles vs weasel is a pretty lopsided matchup.
I’d love to see Wenger walk down the tunnel a full 10 mins before the games over at 4-0.
Let’s be realistic though, Wenger is too classy for that
Yes Wenger is classy therefore he will make the kind gesture of offering Mourinho a handshake before walking down the tunnel!
You do realize that just supply the ammo for the Wengerhate brigade in the paper if he does that.
Tell me… Do you bleed?
You will
is this another obscure film quote? I’ve always had a thing for tank girl myself.
I think it’s from Batman v Superman.
I prefer Predator. “If it bleeds, we can kill it”
If only there were a twatometer in real life.
If there were such a thing, there couldn’t possibly be one big enough to measure Moronho.
“He who fights with monsters should be careful lest he thereby become a monster. And if thou gaze long into an abyss, the abyss will also gaze into thee.” So said sage philosopher Joey Barton Friedrich Nietzsche. I think we can all agree that Jose Mourinho is both a monster and a huge festering abyss on the football landscape and he will be tucked away in his lair staring deep into the soul of this Arsenal team.” Tim Stillman
Jose Mourinho is a cxxt
More of a cunt than a cxxt I reckon.
but a double x cunt all the same
An “f star star CUNT”, is believe the technical term

I know the c and the t stand for “cunting twat”, but what do the x’s stand for?

I didn’t know that Chelsea parked the bus against United the other day – at home! Sure, they won the game, but it speaks volumes about just how cynical and pathetic they are. We can expect them to park the bus of all buses on Sunday. It would be so frustrating if we spent 90 mins trying to wriggle the ball through 2 ranks of 5 without scoring against those cunts. Ugh.
Already amped for this match and it’s 2 full days away!
There’s nothing more I want then to beat those filthy cunts managed by that despicable……..erm……..cunt….Nothing else needs to be added. COYG!
Comment:I really wish Arsenal beats Chelsea on Sunday… if not anything but to beat Mourinho for the first time. mourinho has been lucky a no of times in the past when he shld ve lost. I hope the luck deserts him on Sunday.
Reply: I fully agree with you on that one
Continuation:Me too.
I really wish Arsenal beats Chelsea on Sunday… if not anything but to beat Mourinho for the first time. mourinho has been lucky a no of times in the past when he shld ve lost. I hope the luck deserts him on Sunday.
Wait. What? Is this a comment or reply? Please indicate.
I could be wrong about him (Mourinho), but even his parents won’t like him…however the best beating he could get is by hammering the hell out of his inglorious bastard son (That’s Terry of course)…lets do that..
Next time, punch him on the face Arsene.
Not looking forward to the game one bit.
I agree though in some ways it is no-lose. We won’t win the PL whatever result.
If we win or draw all is fine. A loss is less likely as we are at home and the bus will be parked, we just need to be disciplined at the back.
Maureen will play for a draw and therefore counter. The key is to stay calm, don’t over commit. Let’s face it, it’s easy to make this personal with the Cesc affair, the Mou vs Wenger situation, and the usual Mourinho pre-match shenanigans. This is where we will see if the team has matured, if they can focus on the game and give a committed but controlled performance.
We can do it this time.COYG.
I want Jenkinson to jump out of the stands and fly-kick Maureen in the face, then surf the crowd back to the executive box. While Maureen is writhing, Diaby comes out the treatment room and stamps on his nadgers like he’s doing a Morris dance. Then Wilshere comes off the bench, rips off Maureen’s flattened manhood and force-feeds it to Fabregas. Anything less and I will be disappointed, lads.
You’re easy to please.
After force feeding the 2-faced Spaniard his todger, I was hoping for the linesman to insert his flag into MaureenOs ring piece……
I despise Jose on a cellular level, I honest to god hope that as Ozil tap’s in Arsenal’s 5th on Sunday, he spontaneously combust’s and dies looking at Wenger for Mercy, only for wenger to take a picture of the whole situation and upload it it twitter.. winning the selfie game for ever
Wenger doesn’t believe in history? That’s a real thinker.
I wish Wenger will give him a lesson to remember as Ped did………..Doesn’t have to be beaut?iful, just beat him on sunday
I think the cunt will play for the draw.. Hopefully we win !
I had been noticing something for the past few games, something which tim stillman column today proves, that we do not start the second half of the game strongly.
This was particularly evident in the games against Newcastle, Reading and maybe even Liverpool.
We sure as hell can’t continue the same trend against Chelsea as they very much have the quality to hurt us.
I’d like the lads to be a little careful with this.
COYG!!
Beating Chelski is a must. They have been scrapping games of late and Mourinho’s fear of defeat has taken any attacking impetus out of them. Their cautious approach always makes it hard for us to beat them, but I think they have become very brittle. They practically gave PSG the tie by choosing to defend. If Arsenal go at them in a disciplined way, pressure in the right areas, remain compact and not get caught out, we can turn them over. It is all about maturity and Arsenal have shown this season we have improved a lot on that front.… Read more »
I have been trying to think of the words I could use to describe my hatred for Mourinho and the cunty Chelsea players but I don’t think the human language has the words that are strong enough. Therefore I will just hope that my malocchio I placed on them when I was in London during Christmas week and our great Arsenal players will do the job. The day after I did it they lost to Tottenham 4-1 and they really haven’t played well since then and we have been on a wonderful run. COYG!
some seriously violent imagery today…
I just want to win the game because I love Arsenal. Life is too short for some of the hate people have here.
Play our game, win our way and let the manager and players rejoice. We’ve done so well this year that we are due to beat the Parked Bus.
The Martyr of Islington.
Wenger is the only one (nearly) able to surpass the relevance of victory, in the name of righteousness!
We will still be open to the counter, that true, but we are closer to than we have been in a while to beating these shite hawks.
Hold your breaths, check your temperatures and cling on to something sturdy: I’m about to be positive. I think we’ll beat Chelsea on Sunday. Everything is in our favour at the moment. Chelsea look tired right now; we have everybody fit (somehow); their star striker is out and we have tons of momentum behind us. Maureen will park the bus and look for a draw or a 1-0 win, but I’m convinced that we’ll be too good for them. I can see us seeing them off by two goals to nil. It won’t make any difference when it comes to… Read more »
Wow, I just gave fatgooner a thumbs up. I need a moment…
and a big game from your favourite striker: GIROUD!!!
I hope you’re right and agree with your assessment. I think we have enough to break through their D. Mourinho will park Matic and Zouma in midfield with Cesc in front of them. I think the Coq will handle Cesc ok and our forwards will be too pacey for their defence that has been slowing down a bit recently.
I think those couple of thumbs downs were reflex reactions, don’t take it personally.
Wow, someone has spiked me with some REALLY good shit 😉
Are you ok? Should we send for a doctor?
In all seriousness, spot on post…. Now just try and go with this new emotion you’re experiencing, learn to enjoy it…
Nice one Fats! 🙂
I love your post FG! Fingers crossed all your predictions come true. Especially the one where Wenger drops his kecks to have his arse kissed by Jose. I could even take another 6-0 beating just to see that.
Mourinio’s a bright man – he knows what’s needed to be at the top of the football tree and it irks him that ultimately Wenger will be seen as the better manager having overseen a stadium move (oh, where is Chelski’s new one?!!!) and still kept his side in the top 4 and now getting stronger. Not taking away from his obvious talent but he has gone to clubs with seemingly unlimited cash and has had the pick of the best in the world. He knows he’s had the easier ride and resents Arsene for having the trust and faith… Read more »
Take Hazard out of the game & they have no attacking threat, as long as our attacking boys can get a goal we should be good.
Feels like a typical 0-0 game if you ask me.. Park the bus football… ZZzZzzZZzZ
I bet when Mourinho gets sick he doesn’t stay sick for long because even infections can’t stand him.
I heard Mourinho wanted to join ISIS but not even they wanted him.
We all like to hate Mourinho but truth is he is a canny adversary who will prey on any weakness you exhibit. Wenger tends to have an open architecture approach to his team set up, preferring them to interperete their priorities and positioning within the flexible 4-3-3 formation (which can morph into a 4-1-4-1 or 4-2-3-1 or 4-2-1-3 etc depending on circumstance) He tends to stand off on tinkering too much as he feels it stifles the versatility of the players he has. Against us, Jose will likely target : 1) Gabriel standing in for Per. He has been safety… Read more »
The other thing is we like to castigate Chelsea for having unlimited resource but when you actually look at the squad they have at the moment, it isn’t terribly bug nor is it super packed with quality. Granted Costa, Hazard, Fabregas, an aging Drogba, Terry maybe Ivanovic and two good keepers but the rest of the squad are ‘OK’. It isn’t a particularly deep squad either. Much of the effectiveness is down to the gaffer and his tactics much as I hate to say it. Wenger has traditionally punched above his weight not because of tactics but because he simply… Read more »
I think Chelsea will settle for a draw. I know we badly want to beat Chelsea but we still have to watch our backs as they have little lose on this occasion. Let’s not out of fervour leave our backs exposed like the Monaco affair. But we more than certainly have what it takes to beat Chelsea on this occasion. We are the most in-form team in the league right now.
Le Coq should stick to hazard like glue. That’s how to stop them in their tracks.
God let’s stop feeding the troll and just smash the fucking chavs already.
And ignore Fabregas in his Sith costume, he’s probably can’t believe it’s come to this either.
I will be happy if: 1) Arsenal thrash Chelsea 7-0 2) John Terry’s testicles collide with the goal post at full speed 3) Mourinho is accidentally injured by a slide tackle from Fabregas near the technical area 4) He then dies in hospital when a nurse absent-mindedly applies a tourniquet to his neck 5) Chelsea are deducted 4 points by the FA because their fans throw flares around, harming about half of them in the process 6) Courtois, Cahill, Matic, Fabregas, Hazard and Ivanovic all sustain season-ending injuries 7) Oscar is sent off for diving when actually fouled and denied… Read more »
Nah, think you could probably add a few more…. Why not go up to 20?
Waitt, you don’t want $50.000.000?
With all this build-up, we better win this game, boys!
Arsenal 2-0, goals from unlikely source like gibbs or coq.
