Mesut Ozil says he’s looking to build on his first two seasons at Arsenal by helping the club to even more silverware.
The Gunners have won two FA Cup titles since the German arrived from Real Madrid but he feels his teammates have the quality to challenge for even more presitigious titles.
Talking to Arsenal Player in Singapore about his aims for the new season the 26-year-old also touched on how he hopes he can further improve after an eye-catching second half of the last campaign.
“I know that I have a lot more potential to show but if you look at the last two years, we’ve been successful and have won the FA Cup twice.
“Every season you need to prove yourself again and I want to do that again this time.
“I want to help the team as much as I can. Ultimately we have a strong team that can win everything. Our aim is to be more successful this season than we were in the last.”
Last week compatriot Per Mertesacker tipped Ozil to have a big season at the Emirates so long as he avoids injury.
Reflecting on the preparations he’s been undertaking during his first full pre-season at the club, Ozil also underlined that avoiding injury in the build-up to the Premier League’s big kick-off will be important.
“I’ve noticed myself that the training sessions we’ve had here are helping me to become fitter. I want to get through pre-season without any injury and then we can see.
“I know exactly how I can use my body. We had three weeks holiday – maybe that was a bit too short – but I’m looking forward to the new season and to our new challenge.”
The collective loins of the Arseblog News team are well and truly moistened by the prospect of Mesut Ozil hitting the ground running this season.
Granted he’s had his ups and downs since arriving two summers ago but it really felt like we were starting to see the best of him by the time he helped fillet Villa in the FA Cup final.
Well let’s go get it done then!
Really excited for this season. No sloppy start like last year please.
I could not believe 2 years had passed already. I could still remember the excitement when he first joined like only yesterday. It still feel unreal that he is with us.
How long was his contract when he first signed with us? It might be wise to extend his contract to tie him down now.
yesterday I watched us play l’pool 2 seasons ago in our 2 nil win.
what a big difference the team we have now with that one.
4 players started that game that no longer figure regularly plus sagna
schez, sagna, gibbs, arteta, rosicky
Arsene has really turned things around.
Imagine being shown this headline 2 years ago!
I can still remember the summer when Anders Limpar, David Seaman and Andy ‘didn’t do much but score the winner in the FA Cup Final’ Linighan signed., all for a combined total of about £3m, I was blown away. And that my friend is extremely unreal. OK, I’ve proved I’m old, off for cocoa.
Amen!
Oh-zil Oh-zil Oh-zil Oh-zil OH-ZIL!!!!!
Personally I love the man, as a superb footie player, with a brain and legs….. Modest but focused and sharp… some others in the team just need to read his wavelength, better, (in some cases) … genius…
Ozil: 2 years with club: Says “we”
xxxxxxx: 10+ years with club: says “this club” etc
#YaGunnersYa #OhYaaa hope that word is a curse for us to win more title in coming time.
And after scoring at the weekend he might start adding more goals to his repertoire.
He’ll be unstoppozil.
I’m banking that for later in the season…
Well if it happens it happens
I miss “Sign da ting”, haha
i hope he can be consistently great this season without injuries!
Arseblog, I love your work, I really do, but I think I speak for everyone here when I say that I could die a happy man if I never have to hear about the state of your gonads again, moist or otherwise 😉
I wish people would check the byline on the story before commenting 😉
Ah, ’twas one of the Hound’s. I did wonder, but the author doesn’t show up on the mobile version. I apologise for invoking your gonads in vain, my dear chap!
For me, the idea of a collective loins is strange enough to justify hearing more about that kind of stuff.
all he needs is a striker that can finish…

Gotta love all the manure fans and all of English media who say he’s 42mil failure.. When they’ve won F all. Meanwhile he’s got two fa cups and a world cup since signing with us.
Angel Di Maria much?
but Di Maria is still sad from someone breaking into his home last January, sniff sniff.
Angel of Mary cost them about as much as Ozil and Sanchez cost us combined.
A lot of our own call him a failure. Smh. Calling someone an arsenal fan doesn’t cut it anymore. You need to sub-divide that shiz.
The thought of ozil hitting the ground running should be nothing but pure delight to every fan. I’m still convinced he’s not hit his peak yet and would be needing a new pair of undies if he did in tandem with sanchez. We’re still at 1-2 players short of winning it all but no doubt we’re headed in the right direction. I’m just glad to be a part of it all 🙂 F**k off to all that said he left Madrid and won’t be winning any trophies with the mighty Arsenal. A world cup medal and 2 FA cups in… Read more »
Plus one community shield!! How dare we forget that prestigious trophy…
And the Barclays Chilli Crab Trophy…
Barclays Asia Cup anyone!!??? COME ON! DON’T SELL THE MAN SHORT!
It can be done, only we need consistency and avoid fatigue especially during the mid season.
…with his laser vision
I thought he was going to Juventus though?
Oh wait, there’s more chance of Mourinho not being a cunt than Mesut going to Juve.
On second thoughts, nothing is more certain than his cunt-like status. Perhaps other than the fans being a flock of brainless queefs. I believe that’s the technical term.
I hate to correct you, but the actual technical term for Chelsea fans is ‘cunts’
I love Mesutterly brilliant Ozil!
What’s the deal with all these terrible jokes?
I was pleased with that one! Tough audience…:-)
He was known as the assist king when playing for real Madrid notching up a crazy 36 assists in his final season there. So if our attacking players can connect to the frequenzy of Özil he can set up a staggeringly amount of chances for his team mates.
However I dont think Giroud and Özil is a very good match with the kind of special skill Özil possesses which require a more mobile attacker creating movement infront of him for the best results.
Just announced to my girlfriend the title ‘Ozil targeting more silverware’. Response? “More knives and forks?”. Yes.
And you will mesut, you will….
so is this samper guy a genuine replacement for Flamini? In appearance anyway…….
http://img02.lavanguardia.com/2014/09/19/Sergi-Samper-durante-el-partid_54416124269_54028874188_960_639.jpg
Samper is not replacing Flamini. Flamini may likely make space. IF Samper is brought in, he is more likely to back up Santi. If you haven’t been paying attention, it is a largely double act in second half of season in midfield with Coquelin AND Santi. Recently Wenger player a Ramzorla combination to equal effect albeit against Everton in a ‘friendly’. This would suggest Wenger may be more concern with a loss of Santi. Coquelin is ably covered IMO with Arteta (and even with Flamini) which is reason partially why Mikel has been retained for one more season as transition/back… Read more »
You keep using those capital letters. I do not think they mean what you think they mean.
Tl.dr
As for silverware, no reason to feel we can’t win. We have a good balance between experience and up coming talent. It is not with coincidence that Wenger has bought 2 players over last two summers in the 25yr age group on cusp of their peak years (+Walcott if he signs is in similar category LANS) Add experience and quality in every department now which was built up with te intro of Arteta when Wenger realised the Denilson generation would not cut it, and we have a good recipe for continued improvement. Then there are a bevy of players at… Read more »
You talk too much sir. Try the Samaritans.
And hardly makes sense most of the times.
¡Por la Septuple!
Another one? :O
Haha, yup! But I’d be glad to alter my name in deference.

Sorry this link was the one I wanted to post
In a completely off topic, if you need to laugh hard, how about this:
http://www.espnfc.us/blog/espn-fc-united-blog/68/post/2527982/footballs-50-most-influential-people
According to ESPN, Vincent fuckin Kompany is more influential person in football than Arsene Wenger.
Very funny. Influential obviously doesn’t mean well known for most of them.
Probably means ‘gives good bribes’ or ‘gets things done if bribed’.
Though Gary Neville should obviously be in the top 50 above Arsene…
Arsenal player of the year 2015/2016
Mesut Ozil
The prospect of Mesut Özil having his best season yet? My body is ready!
There is also one important angle about ozil at arsenal.
This is his first full pre-season at arsenal.
I’m disappointed the title of the post didn’t read: Özil eyeing even more trophies
#OhYA!
Gut feeling says this will be his season.
Oooooozilllllll!joyto watch!
