Gedion Zelalem joins Rangers

Gedion Zelalem has joined Glasgow Rangers on loan for the duration of the 2015-16 season, report the Daily Record.

The 18 year old will play at Ibrox under manager Mark Warburton in a move that will significantly take him out of his comfort zone.

One of the most highly-rated young players at Arsenal, he was discovered by US scout Danny Karbassiyoon, and caught the eye during pre-season 2014 with some silky performances.

Rangers are getting themselves a very talented player, one whose passing ability can unlock defences, but who does need to develop physically and learn to cope with that side of the game.

Regular football was always going to be the next step in his development, and while the Scottish Championship is an unusual place for an Arsenal youngster to end up, there’s no reason why this can’t play a good part in his footballing education.

Please please please don’t break him

Denis Grant

We will make him stronger hopefully for you guys he will be like Van Bronckhorst.

Stringer Bell

Let’s hope he don’t get thrown out the windy

gooner 44

a few iron brù’s he’ll be hard as nails

Ferngunner

Odd really even more so with 2 or 3 championship sides vying for him. This could just be meant to toughen him up especially after under 21s coach recent comments. Good luck u talent u!

The Limp Bar

It’ll toughen him up, but also bear in mind that at Rangers in the championship he’ll be playing in a team that will boss posession in most games they play – I’m sure that’s a factor for him going there too.

AntiSpud

Wow the loan book is still out

Debra Fergus

Welcome to Scotland’s most successful club Gedion! Playing in front of 50 000 passionate Gers fans will help him develop i’m sure, this move can only benefit both Arsenal and Rangers.

robbie the ger

your youngster will do well with us on our way back, rest assured he’ll come back to the gunners ready for your prem league, game time and a chance to toughen up while showing his skill will develop him, we trust in Warbs, trust Wengers judgement in allowing him to come to us.

I think the loan move is as much about the manager as it is the club he’s going to. Warburton is excellent.

Rfc

Buzzing to have him at Ibrox. He’ll be playing for a team expected to win every week, under a manager who plays a system similar to Arsenal’s. Should toughen the boy up as well

Rangers Loyal

Rangers manager Mark Warburton has Rangers playing some great attacking football. He will have the same pressure as playing for the Arsenal first team. We as Rangers fans expect to win every game and he’ll need to cope with that as well as playing in front of 52,000 fans.

zilhad

i can already hear you guys booing the living shit out of anyone who tackles him down to the ground…
Good times ahead for both teams.

Yours toulouse

Fuck we have some wonderkids coming though, Loans for days! Good times ahead gooners.

ClockEndRider

Hmm…..will learn any more at Rangers than playing for the Dog and Duck on the Marshes, given the leagues are of a roughly equivalent standard.

Mark

Clock or is it Cockender i have family in Southgate who are big Gunner fans so i have a lot of affection for Arsenal but your comments show your arrogance and ignorance im very pro british but you sound like a sad little englander who only helps the wanker nationalists up here justify there anti english behaviour.I do not defend the standard of the Scottish championship but i take umbridge to your sneering disdain of Glasgow Rangers who have always been one of the oldest and most famous clubs in the world remember not that long ago my club took… Read more »

His skills are good. Regular play and some toughening up, and he could really turn into something special.

Gunnerlocutor

He played down the road from me in Maryland for the youth club Olney Rangers. Maybe he just likes Rangers?

Third Plebeian

Well, looks like I’ll be watching Scottish Championship for the first time in my life.

chippy's chip

A huge talent and as a few have said a loan up there will toughen him up to the max. But his skill will frustrate some of the many cloggers up there and coupled with the even shitter refs, i fear for the boy. Fingers crossed he comes to no harm.

William Dunn

We will look after this exciting young talent. Trust Arsene and Mark Warburton. They are friends and share a philosophy on how the game should be played. I guarantee your man will come back a stronger and better player!

Nigerian Kanu

Love this guy. Not so slender as people make him out to be. Needs Mental Strength and a bit of physicality after all Ozil not so physically built so is Carzola who’s barely taller than the corner flag but is a wonderful footballer. My favourite at Arsenal.
