Room at the Champions League in for The Jeff

Arsenal have submitted their squad for the Champions League group stages, and our chances of winning the tournament for the first time have been increased by the inclusion of The Jeff.

While other youngsters from the B-List have been included, Jeff Reine-Adelaide doesn’t slot into that category, so perhaps it’s an indication of the manager’s inclination to give him some involvement in the group stages.

Alex Iwobi, who impressed during the Emirates Cup, is also included alongside defenders Tarifi Moore and Stefan O’Connor, midfield Glen Kamara, and winger Chris Willock. There’s no place, however, for £2.5m Polish signing Kristian Bielik whose transfer fee suggested a great degree of involvement than we’ve seen thus far.

You can see the full squad below:

dear arseblog

Any chance of getting rid of them pointless video ads?

It used to take 2-3mb to read one of your pages now it takes 15-20mb due to the video.

As I only have 150mb a month I will have to give up your blog.

Even if you use the app instead of the site?

Is Tarifi Moore the brother of Tafari Moore?

Is it possible to thumb-down myself for that comment?

Player B does not mean much in terms of whether he plays or not. Jeff is not listed as such because he did not play for club for 2 years. It just maybe means that there was room to add him because of lack of new players, that is all. See this from here http://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/news/newsid=2277105.html: What is the B list of players? A player may be registered on List B if he is born on or after 1 January 1994 and has been eligible to play for the club concerned for any uninterrupted period of two years since his 15th… Read more »

Jeff we can.

elbibitos

why is Bellerin in the B-list?

Anonymous Physicist

Because he’s allowed to be. The B-list is unlimited, so anyone who can go on the B-list (born ’94 or later, has been with the club >2 years) should go on the B-list. Then after putting all the first teamers on the A-list you can fill out the A-list with youngsters who aren’t eligible for the B-list due to the 2 year rule, such as Jeff

Django unhinged

B for Bellerin.

Ferngunner

Surely can’t be because he’s got ‘B’arca DNA, can it?

catbiscuits

Will be exciting to catch a few glimpses of him this season. Petty about the anti-climatic ending to the transfer window, but compared to this time last year we’re in a better place. Signing Cech and Gabriel; getting Walcott back fit; the emergence of Coquelin and Bellerin; and Monreal’s development into a pretty good player. Still don’t see us winning the title, but maybe this is the season for the Ox or Wilshire to fulfil their promise, or Walcott to establish himself as a striker. If so, we could at least put up a credible challenge, and maybe have a… Read more »

Don’t think any team can be considered certain title favourites as the PL has become incredibly competitive with even mid table clubs buying quality players. It will probably be between City, Chelsea and us. And agree, this is the best Arsenal team in maybe 10 years and more settled than last year when there were a lot of new players coming in. Not signing 1 more player doesn’t really make the difference, it’s a team game. Plus we have Jeff.

paul

Agreed but Monreal if a “fucking” good player imo!

Mikey

I’d completely forgotten about Bielik.
That’s mad. He mustn’t be progressing as hoped. Could he not horse him out on loan somewhere?

DialSquareGoon

Whisper it quietly but I think Bielik hasnt been performing as hoped.

Pass debuchy from the left hand side

I think in fairness to him, he has had injury problems. Wouldn’t be the first, or last Arsenal player to have his development stunted by injuries.

Luis Boa Muerte

He’s also 17

he was playing it on his laptop 😮

Bielik is still at the club? Must admit I’d forgotten about him, probably a few days after he signed.

Suprised at some of the midfield though. Didn’t think Rozza would be included, and I’d be Suprised if Jack played more than 3 games without injuring himself. I’d like to be proved wrong though, but the tournament awaits so let’s see how we fare this time around.

Anonymous Physicist

So who do you think we should have included instead of Rosicky and Wilshere? Bielik? Fortune?

paul

My Granny instead of Walcott 🙂

Off topic, but is it just me or is it taking much longer over the past few weeks to load the arseblog and arseblog news page?

it is slow on my laptop too. sometimes it just loads the logo then stops.

Not to overhype him or anything, but I think Jeff could genuinely be the greatest player in the history of football.

Luis Boa Muerte

Yes, he’s the secret lovechild of Pires Henry and Vieira

Ferngunner

Arsenal didn’t sign an outfield player they said.

paul

Agreed, but wish he’d done it before the transfer window closed! 🙂

Hurry up Jeff!

Lass

Would love to see The Jeff dominate Bayern

Alex

I’ve got a tenner down for him to stick a brace past Neuer.

Anonymous Physicist

The reason Bielik isn’t included is pretty clear: he hasn’t been with the club long enough to go on the B-list, and there was only one place for a young outfield player left on the A-list. Wenger decided to go with Jeff, and personally I would rather see a teenage winger in the Champions League than a teenage holding midfielder. Also, since we still have Arteta and Flamini we are also less likely to need another holding midfielder.

Getso gunner

I love Jeff, hope He will score the winner for us in the champions league final

dpro

The only reason Bellerin is on List B HAS to be because his surname begins with B and they wanted some alliteration to make the list less prosaic; maybe. No other reason.

True Red

I watched the U21s beat West Ham on Friday at the Emirates. Bielik played at centre half and albeit against a poor team, he looked good. Quick, strong in the tackle and a good range of passing. He’s put a bit of meat on since we signed him. All in all it was encouraging to see some of our recent young signings playing well. The Jeff had a relatively quiet but effective game. He scared the shit out of all the West Ham defenders every time he ran at them. However the star for me was Stephy Mavadidi up front.… Read more »

So PSYCHED for our new player, Aleff Adelaide-Chamberlain. PSYCH!!

🙁

Eduardo Stark

Since Jeff dribbles’ can fool KDB, he has a reasonable chance in facing the likes of Thiago, Vidal, and Muller then 🙂

Crash Fistfight

Not sure Kevin de Bruyne’s famed for his defending tbf.

He’s known for dicking over a load of cannon-fodder in the hipster’s favourite: the Bundesliga.

Jeff we can!!

Me So Hornsey

Eden Hazard today rightfully admitted that there is no way he is ever going to reach the level of Messi or Ronaldo.

Step forward The Jeff.

Henry! Chance!! Goal!!!

I’m worried Bielik is not on the list. My hope was that he’ll be ready to at least play the Carling cup games. I’m beginning to get the feeling that they wouldn’t be anytime soon

Henry! Chance!! Goal!!!

Spoke too soon

Jeff

I know a dog called Jeff

Man Manny

I hope Jeff plays – the dead rubber in Greece (hoping we would have qualified before then). Quite a talent; after Fab, I think he’ll be the youngest to play in the first team.

Arsepedant

I thought you might have been trying to quote a coroner for pedants. I’d rather not see one of those for a few decades yet, thank you very much.

Although come to think of it, I probably wouldn’t actually see one, would I?

Toure Motors

The Jeff’s surname is Woade. Look at the size of him. Imagine getting into a fight with the fucker; ‘please dont tear my head off’ ‘I’m going to tear your head off because i don’t like your head’

Arsenalfanman

It’s a surprise Bellerin is in the B list considering he’s first team and Joel Campbell isn’t.

Arseblood

Unbelievable, Jeff!

kafka

so, we didn’t sign sergei samper, eh?

Dodgem

Can’t help but be frustrated with Wenger for not paying €50 + add ons for the JEFF.

WE* pay expensive. effing. Tickettss!!

Out of transfer/dick measuring trophy before Jan!

*not me.

santori

More like room for Joel Campbell. Too many numpties yet again making the same mistake they did with Coquelin last summer.(And Bellerin) Campbell is ahead of Jeff in development. Granted Jeff is a talent, too many are again pinning too high a hope on a very young player (Much like Zelalem) who will need a little breathing room to grow. Campbell OTOH I mentioned was a possibility staying. Wenger will not get much out of him in market considering his progress in recent seasons over the price we paid. There in NO HARM keeping him if even on the fringe… Read more »

Crash Fistfight

Only one person here that sounds pompous.

PS – Campbell is bog-average (sorry to say). He may be ahead of The Jeff in development terms, but so is Tom Cleverley – doesn’t mean he’s any good. I’m not suggesting The Jeff should be near the first team squad at the moment, but he clearly has the raw attributes to become a better player than Campbell, who has what going for him exactly?

Sammyoras

One of the positives i’m taking into the new campaign is the quality some of our young lad posseses. Looking forward to seeing such young ones break into the first team. If jeff can keep his head down, work hard and learn from the experienced players and the manager, he would be one hell of a player for us

Sammyoras

Would love to see the jeff face johnny c**t terry in a one on one situation in a major cup final. (the face of that tw*t for a manager would be priceless)

Mr_tee

Is Matt Macey on list A ? Why’s he not getting a mention anywhere ?

Mark

Hopefully we will win some matches in the League Cup this Fall so that the promising youngsters can get some games in alongside some of the more veteran players. Would love to see Jeff get some appearances mixed in with the full squad throughout the year (whether FA Cup, League Cup, CL matches like at Galatassary last season, etc.). Not sure how much if any we’ll see of Bielik this year, doesn’t sound like he is progressing too quickly.

ruel

The earlier version that i saw of campbell showed a young man who was quite skilled on the ball leaving a lot of players in his wake and have seen spurts of this in the world cup and gold cup. i think he has place too much pressure on himself to perform and only step up performance when he is playing for his country. I am hoping he gets some opportunity to play and realise his potential and can become that number 10 which arsenal is lacking. Jeff has that same talent and its going to be amazing watching his… Read more »
