Francis Coquelin has called on Arsenal to show the requisite consistency to mount a title challenge, saying the team have to build on yesterday’s 3-0 smashing of Manchester United.
It leaves the Gunners just 2 points behind leaders Man City, and in a good position domestically, but obviously the team has to perform at the same level week in, week out.
“A lot of people didn’t expect us to win, but we proved a lot of people wrong,” said the Frenchman.
“Inside the dressing room we knew we could do good things this season, that we knew we could be contenders.
“But obviously we have to be consistent. The most important thing is to carry on now and keep getting the results. We are getting stronger against the big teams. We beat City last season, now United. It’s all about consistency.
“The league is getting tougher because even the smaller teams are beating the bigger teams, so we need to be getting results every week.”
And he had some words of praise for Theo Walcott after his performance, rated by Arsene Wenger as his best for the club at centre-forward.
“It was not only offensively [his best game] – what he did defensively was absolutely amazing too. He was chasing the ball, which makes things easier for us at the back.
“When he is in this kind of mood he is not far off being unstoppable.”
Love the passion and performance from Coq yday! Including his celebration
it was nice to see coq dominate the midfield keeping the likes of rooney, mata and carrick under control
After last season’s FA cup win, there was a feeling that this team was ready to move to the next level. A dodgy tranfer season and a poor start to the season later, it was like deja-vu all over again. Arsene, however, believed in the team and it seems he was right after all. A striker and a DM would not have been out of place but this team as quite strong when the injuries clear up. If we can build on the Sunday result, the battle line is drawn between the giants of North London and the blue half… Read more »
Who is the other giant of North London?
Arsenal ladies
Awesome pic, any memes yet?
I really need some context for what the Coq is doing in that picture
It looks like he’s just sh*t Ashley Young
Theo & Alexis are warning the away fans that shit storm is coming their way.
Proof the Ashley Young is nothing more than a 65 kg pile of shit.
Hahahaha….that’s brilliant
Arseblog always picks the best pictures
He is celebrating Sanchez goal. Impressive hey.
A Coq squat?
Taking a massive shit on van gal’s “philosophy”.
Check out the reddit thread on /r/gunners for the Photoshop battle.
Some funny ones.

Coq himself was immense yesterday as always, mert, gab and cech all quietly effective, keep the same attitude and the title is ours
A Theo, Giroud, Alexis, Welbeck strikeforce, operating in front of a midfield of Ozil, Ramsey, Cazorla, Wilshere, Rosicky and Coquelin, across a whole season, is capable of clinching the league title. I believe!
0-6-4 … I’ll buy that … who needs any defenders when that lot is on the pitch?
Ha. You beat me to it.
I was just assessing our offensive capabilities. In fact, I was reflecting on the statement credited toThiery Henry about us needing an upgrade on Giroud before we can win the league when I wrote that post.
I agree. Many teams would find it hard to cope with our 4-6-4 formation.
They say some pictures are worth a thousand words. The title pic is one of them.
I remember him being equally sensible and level headed after the city win last season. I really admire this guy’s attitude. He’s obviously right, performances like Sunday need to become the standard and not the stand out.
I love this pic! Thou shalt be my wallpaper!
Quite amazing how France’s number one DM can’t get into United’s starting 11, whilst Coq was bossing United’s midfield, but can’t get into the French team.
In time, they will learn to respect his ability. But probably good for us that our only capable DM isn’t involved in interlulls.
Really? Schniderlin is ahead of matuidi kondogbia and pogba?
No. He plays alongside Pogba and Matuidi
Schneiderlin has never been the top DM on Deschamps list. Deschamps plays Matuidi, Cissokho and Pogba more often than including Schneiderlin. That may change due to Schneiderlin’s move to Man U.
yeah now he’ll even play less. poor schmuck.
That’s Coq celebrating the first goal, I believe. What a shot.
Has he scored himself? If this is the way he celebrated teamate’s goal, I really want to see his goal’s celebration.
Wouldn’t be cool if he turns to super saiyan 3 for his goal celebration. 😀 complete with the scream, the ground shaking and all the energy flame around his body.
Have a look at Gabriels celebration as well….
Loving all this player love-ins lol!
Everyone played tremendously yesterday, Francis included. We’ve to push on from this and ensure we perform week in, week out.
i thought theo was simply amazing.he is proven to be great striker for us, love his movement off the ball.
best dm in europe for a while now- you always know arsenal have a great player on their hands when the press ignores him- koscielny the same
he’s been great for so long now, you know an arsenal players’ quality when the press is silent about them- koscielny was the same
he’s been great for most of the year now, its like a success story from another era, wouldn’t be surprised if the lad painted his own kitchen. You always can sense arsenal have a player on their hands when the press ignores them- koscielny another. Great readers of space.
Alexis should rest and fully let his groin heal instead of going away with Chile. But even AW won’t be able to stop him from hooking up with Chile squad so all we can do is pray.
I hate interlulls but this is coming at a good time. Feel factor is good and Kos, Flam, Captain, and the long term injury guys can get more treatment/rest.
Theo is lucky to get such big praise from the big coq.
At least fans who always refer to Klopp on this forum will have to stop, if he goes to Liverpool.
Theo must have read comments on here because he has upped his game 🙂 a lot of people were saying he wasn’t doing enough without the ball. Beginning to see that it actually helps if he also defended and assisted more not just shoot for goal when he gets a sniff of the goal. Be more aware and try bringing the midfield more into play, be intelligent like he showed yesterday. He played absolutely fantastic.
coq’s been superb for a while now, its really great to see an old fashioned “from within” kinda success story in this bullshit “I’ve got no boots, go buy me a boot factory, its the only way” modern football era of money laundering and exhaustive twattery.. You always know arsenal have a player on their hands when the meeja gimps are silent, a combination of passive aggressive jealousy and an inability to really judge a footballer sans profile- pires wasn’t raved about in the rags, koscielny rarely gets mainstream praise, monreal is great.. good company coq, keep it up.
Consistency is what we need particularly focus at the back when defending. But Walcott really adds something different to this team. he is a different proposition to Giroud, a different tool. He cannot hold up play like the big man but he is beginning to work the channels and find space and crucially the team is beginning to find their passing range to him and understand his movement. They can get even better. Theo has improved physically but also in technique. The lazy as per usual media driven opinion that he lacks a footballing brain and will never get better… Read more »
sorry for the multiple posts folks!
