And then there was one…
Arsenal’s injury crisis has taken its toll on England with Kieran Gibbs the only Gunner representative in Roy Hodgson’s latest squad for upcoming friendly games with Spain and France.
The left-back, who has lost his starting place at the Emirates to Nacho Monreal, will join up with the Three Lions for showdowns in Alicante and Wembley on the 13 and 17 November respectively. After a ridiculously easy Euro 2016 qualification campaign they’ll no doubt be expecting a couple of sterner tests.
As has been well documented, our much-vaunted British core has been whittled down to the bare (in some cases cracked) bones in recent weeks and months with the likes of Jack Wilshere (ankle), Danny Welbeck (knee), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (hamstring), Danny Welbeck (knee) and Theo Walcott (calf) all sidelined by injury.
Welshman Aaron Ramsey (hamstring) will also miss his country’s game with Holland. Chuba Akpom and Calum Chambers will play for England under-21s against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Switzerland.
Anyway, good on Gibbs…we’re glad he’s, “Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive.”
Sorry. Not sorry.

Ex- Arsenal! ha ha
Why would Roy select Gibbs? He’s been bad this season and there are better fullbacks in England. Even Jenko has been improving playing for westham and he didn’t get a call up.
Danny Welbeck’s knee is so crocked he gets listed twice! Is it both knees both now? Curse you injury gods!!
perhaps *both* his knees are injured?
If the wheels look like they will come off, Wenger can only look back to his summer of inaction and lack of ruthlessness to see why. God help us if Coquelin goes down because I would argue that he is probably our most important player now.
Harry kane cuts across as someone who would blackmail John Ter*y with his sextape,
COMPLETELY UNRELATED!!! but did u guys see what happened to Benzema? apparently he’s getting done for Cocaine, too. Looks like we might have dodged a 70 million Euro bullet with that one.
really, so the real clown is that himself huh?
fucking bastard, I never rate the cunt anyway.
lewandow is the real deal, IMO.
On a positive note, at least they should be coming back thick and fast after the international break. They didn’t show it so well against Bayern but at least our defensive is pretty solid this season. We stand a much better chance of grinding out some ugly results if need be before we get all these attacking players back. Kind of makes me more hopeful than if we had all our attacking players available but a severely depleted defence
I hope Gibbs gets a run-out for England. He could do with match practice
Probably should have played Gibbs left wing last night and switched Alexis to the right. Campbell wasn’t interested in defending and Gibbs is obviously better defensively than Campbell.
All of those injured gunners would get in the england team. Laughing at all the sperms that would have to make way.
Except Ramsey, he wouldn’t get in the england team. Too sexy and welsh.
That ex-Arsenal guy will score a beautiful own goal for us on Saturday
Cue shitty gibbs bashing from so called arsenal fans….
“Harry Kane (ex-arsenal)”
I Love Arseblog News.
Hopefully, some of our regular first-teamers like Santi and Mesut will get some rest during the Interlull, and glad that Coquelin is not involved in friendlies so far. He’s doing well enough to be considered for France though but I’d rather get him into that Euro 2016 squad as a late inclusion. About Wilshere, I was thinking that in january a loan to Aston Villa under Remi Garde (said to be a younger clone of Arsene, so should be safe hands) would be a great idea to get him some Match fitness and a run of games. That Villa squad… Read more »
Well think of it this way. Our players got injured before the interlull rather than during the interlull.
On the topic of injuries and other lame excuses, it doesn’t take a genius to realise it wouldn’t have made any difference and most of Arsenal’s are self-inflicted. Just like Wenger’s Champion’s League record is a pattern of failure, his club’s injury record is indicative of similar outmoded ideas, lack of attention to detail and outright incompetence.
I’d really like to see Gibbs start performing well. I think he has the ability. He’s also got a bit more pace than Monreal. Don’t get me wrong, I love Nacho and he’s been brilliant but I would find it more satisfying to see someone who has come from the academy cementing a first team place.
