The Mirror and The Guardian have published reports this afternoon which suggest that Alexis Sanchez will miss three weeks with his hamstring strain, while Santi Cazorla also looks set to miss the club’s crucial Champions League tie with Olympiacos in 10 days time.
While the Chilean’s injury is obvious, it remains to be seen what exactly is the damage sustained by the Spanish international. He was caught early in the second half, but played on until the end.
Afterwards, Arsene Wenger said, “He got a kick on the knee and it got worse. I don’t know if he has jaded his knee ligament or he it was just a kick on the nerve but the worrying thing was it got worse during the game.”
Cazorla is due to have a scan to determine the extent of the problem, so fingers crossed it’s nothing too serious.
As for Laurent Koscielny, the reports say that Arsenal are less concerned about him than the other two, but again we’ll have to wait and see what the official word is when the club release that information.
B*ll*cks, that takes out a lot of our attacking threat. I’m not confident we’ll have enough left to do it, though happy to be proved wrong.
If we can’t beat WBA and Norwich with all our first teamers, then we will obviously beat Olympiacos by two goals with our second string.
This is Arsenal don’t forget! COYG!
At this rate we will have to field Kroenkes moustache in midfield
Sweet comment.
I think he’s more of a natural sweeper.
It’s injured with a… hairline fracture. Yes I enjoy being this corny.
Don’t give him the idea. Otherwise, the club will actually start to pay the mustache 3 million a year
Don’t be silly, we’d have to stump up at least 3 mil for that kind of quality.
… Oh, wait.

I wish Arsenal weren’t so good at being Arsenal sometimes…
A red card to one of our players after 10 mn of game is all that remains to be perfectly Arsenal.
Will that be Giroud?
In our next game Scz will ride a helicopter down onto the center circle in the 9th minute, get out, roll up a joint, and smoke it until he gets a red card.
Hopefully Ramsey will step in for Carzola and get back to the level he was playing a couple of years ago when he was our best player from the position. He may be able to get in good scoring positions from the deep lying position, but Flamini has to be disciplined in his positioning and not flying forward too as he likes to do. The big worry is on the wings with Chamberlin and Campbell as the likely people to play most matches. Neither is great defensively (Campbell tries, but has a lot to learn where Chamberlin doesn’t try and… Read more »
Cazorla. IT’S CAZORLA.
Otherwise, agreed.
Step in?
STEP?
He’s got to climb half an Everest before being in the position to step in for the nr.19; otherwise agreed.
Completely lost…
Feel like Ramsey only works hard defensively when he’s scoring goals. If you look at his purple patch he was making tackles all over the place and playing like a proper B2B mid, whereas this season (and last) he’s really only focused on attacking and even more so on scoring goals. Which I wouldn’t mind if he was actually putting them in
Ramsey was playing like a proper B2B mid because he was being played in the B2B position. Since then he hasn’t really played in that position as we changed to the 4-1-4-1 disaster last fall and since January this year has essentially been deployed as an attacking RM with a strong defensive side to his game and license to roam inside, so I don’t know how you can say he’s only focused on attacking play because a: he’s not playing the B2B role, he’s being played in a much more attacking role and b: he still posts some of our… Read more »
Well let’s look on the bright side.
At least we’ll now have 10 shiney new LANS in January ready to propel us to 4th and the FA Cup.
I’ll take 3 FA Cups in a row really. Fine, the PL and champions league should be our aim this year but to win the FA Cup again takes a lot of mettle. Winning breeds a winners mentality and another trophy really can do no harm. Remember the early Wenger team? They never won the CL, won the PL 3 times but in the years they lost out on the PL they’ll win another trophy, FA Cup or the shield. That was one of the best Arsenal teams around so I’m not really sure why we have unreal expectations on… Read more »
Sorry for the long rant, had to get it out of my system after the way things are going the last few weeks.
Nice one Fab I think we all need to take a step back sometimes and realise we are not Barcelona..yet!
I don’t think anyones ever won three FA cups in a row, I’d love it if we could, and we can still win the league.
It’s happened twice, but not since Blackburn did it in 1884, 1885 and 1886.
1886 being, of course, the year Arsenal were formed…
Whatever we did to the injury gods we seek forgiveness…
I’m on ur side!
I offer myself as diaby’s replacement, I have 200 over bones to break. Please just leave the gunners alone.
Will sacrifice Szezesney to make them have mercy and go away.
Well, it would give new meaning to the whole thing about Scz “lighting up.” Assuming you do it oldschool burnt offering style.
So it’s Flamini and Ramsey in the middle and Campbell and Ox on the wings for the next three games, with The Jeff, Crowley, Gibbs and Chambers as our midfield/forward options on the bench? That is some serious bare-bones shit. Or do we expect anyone else back before the Olympiakos game? Arteta perhaps? Or maybe Walcott? I still don’t really blame Wenger for this though. It’s easy to say we shouldn’t have played Alexis in hindsight, but he did apparently come through his fitness test, and Campbell has had just as full a schedule lately. I’m still going to go… Read more »
That’s the price you paid when you wear the cup kit, especially in the PL…It always bring us bad luck…wore it 3times and win non!
seriously? What has that got to do with winning or losing a match??
It has nothing to do but it’s still bad news. 5 players have been injured while wearing that nonsense.
And it’s UGLY!
Oh my giddy aunt! We are blaming the kit now…?
We fans are a superstitious lot. So if the we lose 3 games while wearing that same kit, the kit has everything to do with the loss.
Let’s replace Wenger with a witch doctor then? ffs!
Witch doctor..doctor who?…:-)
get rid of the fucking thing … blue is cursed this season as Jose and crew go down like desperate whores …
Next is to burden Ozil and Giroud box to box. They drop after two more games then we bring on the B team to challenge for the title and defend FA.
..eh?
Where’s Kim Kallstrom when you need him?
Still think we can beat Olympiakos by 2 goals…we beat Milan 3-0 and we finished that match with players like myself, Chamakh, and Park Chu-Young on the field! (We have Özil now) COYG!
We beat Milan on our lovely carpet. I have a feeling that there pitch will be worse than the Milan pitch where we lost by 4.
That’s the spirit!
Expect some recalls to happen in the next few days.
Why continue playing a one legged Cazorla in the second when we had a two legged The Jeff on the bench?? Only Wenger knows
So I think our only midfield and forward line up now is:
Flam Rambo
Ozil
AOC Campbell
Giroud
And that’s it – fuck knows what we’ll do if any more injuries!
FFS
Heard a snippet from an interview with Wenger. He said Walcott wasnt too far away. What that means is anyone’s guess. The original return date was beginning of december. Assuming we are on target Theo cud be back to cover the wings. I know he is a central striker nowadays but its either him or a run-off between Vic Akers and Rob the Chef!
If we have any more injuries in midfield or attack it’s DEFCON1 and time to…”LAUNCH THE JEFF”!!
🙂
Pretty obvious that Alexis was going to be missing but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Santi might not be too serious.
I will get a lot of thumb downs for this but I don’t fancy our chances to go through. Everything is stacked against us now. Alexis is the core behind most of our attacks and Cazorla keeps us ticking in tight spaces, a golden asset if you are set up for counter attacks. It would take a barnstorming performance from the Welsh Jesus and Mö in the middle if we are to go through.
Pile your money on us going through…this is our beloved and bewildering Arsenal don’t forget…
or Ollie Giroud to actually connect properly in front of goal. … he is overdue and playing all right. Theo would be good for pace and we really need Ox to bully those cunts like he bullied Man Utd in the FA cup etc … November is gone so let’s get the Sunderland and Villa presents in and then take a breath …
With the endless injury list year after year, I’m starting to believe Roman and Mou must have had voodoo dolls of all arsenal players made. There must be some black magic going on here. We can’t be this unlucky and/or have such bad training and medical staff.
Well the obvious explanation is that for whatever reason we just have a lot of injury-prone players.
Caz and Alexis are a bit unexpected as they don’t seem to injure easily. Everybody else is pretty much the usual list of suspects.
Theo rushed on against Sheff Wed. Not subbing Alexis as soon as we scored the 3rd against Zagreb? Never resting any of our ‘best’ 11, meaning next to no game time for the second choice players who are then rusty as fuck when called upon (apart from the time he rested Cech of course). Arsene was quick to have a go at Wales for playing Ramsay in a meaningless qualifier but I’m afraid he makes too many poor decisions himself these days.
This is just a little bit silly now. My non Arsenal supporting friends have asked me what’s it like supporting Arsenal, “it’s like having a hot girlfriend who cheats on you constantly”. Looks good but will break your heart.
More like a hot girlfriend who can’t make you cum D:
Well, look at the brigh side: Alexis should be back for the ManCity game. 3 weeks from today.
ok, ok, I rephrase it: Alexis could be back for the ManCity game.
‘Jaded knee ligament’ has got to be the most arsenal injury ever
Hmmmnnn. Ummm … unless Giroud gains 2 yards of explosive pace I think we’re gonna be in for a shit evening of watch Ozil try to thread a tree through the eye of a needle.
The way the Wizard is going he will just score a hatrick himself! COYG!
Worrying but it has become so routine that it isn’t surprising anymore. Hopefully they are small niggling knocks as reported. Alexis back in 3 weeks would be great. Santi we will dearly miss if he does not return soon. Many undervalue the function he does for us in midfield whilst trumpeting Coquelin. Gabriel was a bit shaky in the game but should be OK to cover Koscielny. If Santi is out, we may have to rely on Ramsey next to Flamini. Ox and Campbell will have to show good out put on the flanks where we will have some pace.… Read more »
Hope we can scrap through to the next round of the Champions’ League, but looking like an extremely tall order now…
Get well soon, Alexis, Santi and Laurent. We need you back soonest!
Isn’t Walcott back in the nearest future?
Yes he is, so let’s hope he gets past the first five minutes…
I’m calling these injuries the ‘curse of the ugly blue kit’ now. Five key players injured while wearing the hideous thing over the course of two matches.
So we play a full team vs Zagreb, going all out to ensure we stay in Europe. We could have chosen to send out a weakened team (for a tournament we can’t possibly hope to get further than the round after next) in that game and rest players. We might then have won on Sunday. As it stands, we drop two points and now have to go to win vs Olympiakos with a team short of some of its best players. Oh, but the upside is if we don’t win we can still look forward to playing FC Douchebag and… Read more »
Hard to stay positive with the injuries to key players mounting up again. No use bitching or complaining as the club can’t do anything about reinforcements until Jan. Hopefully the squad players and kids can pick up the slack. I’d take Kallstrom again if we could. He’s still starting for Sweden!
Despite the injuries I would like to think that we still have too much for Fat Sam’s Sunderland at home and then the 2 goal victory in Greece will be difficult without Alexis, but still possible.
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.
I liked Kallstrom, he seemed a good guy and scored a nice penalty!
Then find someone who’s life has given them vodka….. together it will be happy times!
Kallstrom was a big and strong player and good at set pieces. Would love to have him back.
I’m nicking that lemon quote thing…:-)
That’s a really common saying in the US – it’s not something he’s just come out with.
I think it might be a little early for The Jeff to step into play……. but who knows, he might just do a Bellerin.
The League is shit;that’s our only saving grace. I just hope we’re not out of it by the time Welbeck Wilshere Rosicky Walcott get back. It’s very tough but hopefully Wenger sees the light and gets in some loan bodies in Jan. League is still wide open..but not for much longer.
All I’m saying is ITS THE FAACKING SHIIIRT.
walcott, wilshere, rosicky and arteta can not play half a season. going into a season counting on these players is a bad deliberate decision wenger makes every year. we need a good defender (stones) holding mid and a better than giroud striker
Can’t see why Stones would want to sit on our bench regularly. Wouldn’t object to the other two, but can’t see where a striker is going to come from – I think a wide forward would be easier to come by.
In any case, January is probably not a great time to do so (I think it might be worth going for someone like Bender even if he’s cup-tied and expensive though).
Hey, Agents are there for a reason and will be very difficult if not outright impossible to remove from the equation. As many before me explained much better moving such high value commodities around as professional football players justify having recourse to professional intermediaries, even well paid ones. I mean the property business is similar in terms of investment yet nobody really sees any problems paying agencies to sell their houses or find them a suitable property to buy. Instead the real question in my opinion is why is it the clubs pay the agent’s fees when the agents are… Read more »
We are linked to all and sundry because the agents know they can up the value of their players if “arsenal were interested”.
The press of course believe this hook line and sinker and are ready top write an “Arsenal fail” article if it does not materialise…even if we were never in it in the first place.
The negative thing is when fans believe the press with regards our ‘failure’ to sign so and so and it translates into the brilliant (fragile) atmosphere we have at the Emirates.
😉
