Alexis scores FSF Player of the Year award

Alexis Sanchez has been crowned Premier League Player of the Year for 2015 by the Football Supporters’ Federation Player.

The 26-year-old has enjoyed a career-defining twelve months, with highlights including:

Sanchez topped the fans’ vote (hahaha…like candy from a baby) ahead of Jamie Vardy, with Sergio Aguero, David De Gea, Harry Kane and John Stones also on the shortlist.

The FSF awards in association with William Hill are taking place tonight at St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, but Alexis won’t be there to collect his gong as he’s in Chile recovering from his recent hamstring problem.

In a statement, Sanchez said: “I’m delighted to receive the FSF Player of the Year award. Personally, it’s been a great 2015 for me on the pitch with both my club and country.

“Arsenal have enjoyed a good start to the season and it was disappointing to pick up an injury. But I’m hoping to be back soon to help my team-mates have another successful year.”

Arsene Wenger added:  “Alexis has had a great 2015 – winning the FA Cup with us and the Copa America with Chile.

“He has made a huge impact on English football since his arrival at the Emirates and I’m very happy that his skill, ability and dedication has been recognised by football fans across the country.”

Congratulations to Alexis, well deserved.

It also means the Arsenal forward is just one FSF award short of Arseblog, who won Best Independent Website in 2013, and Blogger of the Year in 2014.

Keep trying Alexis, you might catch up one day.

Eternal Titi Berg Pat Nostalgia

When will Alexis be back on thé pitch? Can’t wait.

Danger Mouse

Only when Alexis is willing to get up every morning and write two thousand words about Arsenal will he deserve to have the same number of awards as you Blogs.

MannyG

The worst thing about Injuries to him and Cazorla is that we miss out on watching them play. I hope Alexis is back hanging them in against City!

Judging by this picture it looks like Gillette have found an ideal representative.

TeeCee

He does look sharp, doesn’t he?

It always takes me a minute to tell if articles like this are jokes or not.

Fully deserved, best player in the league. I hope the PFA and football writers regret naming Hazard player of the season. I hated how everyone went on like it was a unanimous thing, look at the stats from last season, Alexis deserved it. Also, Hazard has been pure shite this season, as has been everyone who has anything to do with that club. Loving it!!!

Petits Handbag

Speaking of players of the year, surely Mesut Ozil has to be a leading contender in the league this season.
Having checked the odds I find him at 10/1, surely worth a flutter

So far, it’d probably be between him and Vardy. I’d say of the two, Ozil is more likely to keep his current level up until the end of the season. However, people who hand out awards have notoriously short memories, and tend to favor winners. So in the end, the player of the year will probably be whoever plays best for the eventual champions between February and May.

Crew

So far this season Ozil is the best player in the league (stiff competition from Vardy and Mahrez though).

Blasphemy! You cannot compare yourself to a god

Many congrats Alexis! Richly deserved.

You almost single-handedly carried the team last season. And of course that unforgettable stunner of a goal in the FA Cup Final! OOF!!!

All signs point to Alexis becoming an Arsenal all time great. Arrived at 25 which means he can give Arsenal at least 6 quality seasons. Became one of the best wingers in the world at Arsenal. At Barcelona he was a top player but probably just short of world class, mainly because he didn’t really fit Barca. Scored 25 goals last season with the Arsenal which is a career best. Also seems the kind of guy to commit to Arsenal in the future as well and tell PSG, Man City, Man Utd etc to fuck off. Just hope Bayern won’t… Read more »

Worth noting Arsene paid 32m for him. Contrast the media lauding United paying 35m for Martial as money well spent. Or De Bruyne for 55m versus our Wenger “Panic Buy” with Ozil for 42.3m. Fabregas anyone? Or Sterling for 49m when Walcott cost us 15m ++ Or the media slating our lack of a “world class” striker creating problems for our goal scoring when Giroud is now in double figures and we have the same GD as City who only have Aguero and Bony (One of whom is injured). Nor do United have anyone beyond Rooney and Liverpool with 4… Read more »

Don’t really get the city comment- we’re equal on goal difference but haven’t city scored more goals?? Who’s missed the most clear cut chances in the league this season?? Has Walcott proved he’s a great CF? Say what you want, but this team would be alot better with schnederlin in it unless you’re deluded enough to think Flamini and Arteta are better. Same media you criticize for praising the signing of Martial did the same with Alexis, so i really don’t get your point. If ozil was bought this year, i think its safe to assume we’d have paid AT… Read more »

Congratulations to Alexis, he really the award(s) I hope this isn’t the only one.
And @crew Sanchez is here to stay.

Well deserved love his commitment.
……..

AN other

Hopefully one of many.. He apart from Augero £ Ozil is best player in the league. As Augero is mostly injured, Alexis and Ozil can take turns in picking up all these gongs on regular basis.

David C

still think he was ripped off last season when Eden “where have you gone” Hazard won the award.

Gunman

Have a speedy recovery Alexis.Anyone else see his cryptic instagram message/poem? What was that about?

Jozzer

Congratulations Alexis.
Congratulation Arseblog.
Congratulations Arsenal’s online army.
All fully deserved.

Trez

Congrats Alexis…Hopefully you come back stronger and lead us to the title.

Arsepedant

Richly deserved, he’s been absolutely fantastic since joining us. And with Ozil in the form of his life, we might even have the best TWO players in the PL this season.

Va va voom

After his one month rest Sanchez will come out smokin! And we will run away with the league

Heroldgoon

Have you ever actually tried taking candy from a baby?

Shubham

Congrats! Alexis. What a player….Come back rested and hungry. Need you for the title push.

Andy Mack

Will this award stop the opposition kicking seven shades of shit out of Alexis? Or maybe force the refs to start doing something about it?

Well deserved award.
