Ramsey was useless today, he thinks he is Iniesta (coincidentally in his all time Xi) when he is just a Walcott moved to midfield he was incomparable to a footballer today. He couldn’t even pass. Ramsey has set the bar high. He has had seasons where he has scored lots of goals, and has scored screamers like he did against Galatasaray. The issue we all had then with him however was that he did not back track enough and exposed our defence to the counter attack. He scored lots of goals in one season not seasons and in quite a few of those game he was exceptional and everything he tried came off, in others he was hopeless like he has been most of the last two seasons but popped up with a goal in last minute and the myth was born. Very well said H2K, our defensive balance is essentially non-existent and Ramsey did try to keep shape today as you mentioned, a number of times he was making clearances in the box I had him mistaken for Koscielny. Something seems off in Ramsey’s #’s. He missed 6 passes in the final 1/3rd, but only missed 3 passes in total?
He made three passes that successfully reached two targets.
Ramsey was in a holding role with Elneny. Sunderland did not score, so he did part of his job. Seriously, go back and look how many forward runs he made. He made more runs in sub appearances at the beginning of the season than he did this whole game. Very disciplined for him.
This game was just set up to be this kind of a frustrating draw wasn’t it? You just knew it was going to be like this (remember the 0-0 draw last season?).
Expect more of the same next week against Norwich since they are also fighting to avoid relegation.

You’re right. Ramsey was passing 2yards to the back 4 and to Elneny. No ambitious and no movement up to to force the issue. It is so shit when Campbell and Welbeck add a bit of desire to the team and they have to sit it out.
I also thought Coquelin was missed today for that same reason. Not only for his tenacity, which would have been helpful, but he does often attempt to bomb guys down the wings with his big, lofting passes, or some more incisive forward passing. And his work clogging up the midfield for the opposition sometimes can lead to chances going back the other way which are harder for the opposition to defend if they’re already in the process of trying to get forward. Giroud may very well have been the second most creative player on the pitch but, fundamentally, his job is to score goals.
That he has failed to score for months in the Premier League is at the heart of why he is getting up people’s noses.
It’s great if, for example, a goalkeeper creates two chances every game with his kicks upfield, but if he is not saving shots, he is not serving his primary purposes.
So Giroud being creative is a nice bonus, but it’s the goals we want.
Who says his job is to score goals? If he stood in the box all game long waiting for ball to feet, a la shearer, I’d agree! If he took all the the free kicks, and penalties, I’d agree! He defends, he creates, he holds up the ball! His job is to be a TEAM PLAYER and you goons need to realise and appreciate it!

The crux of it is, the team don’t care about the remainder of the season. Finishing third is not a great achievement and I get why it’s difficult to motivate yourself for it. Sincerely I believe Wenger is unable to push this team any further. At least we didn’t lose though right…And showed great mental strength against a team fighting for their lives…

We’re playing a lot like Man U – clueless possession football. Our counterattacks are too slow and while in possession we’re making too many lateral passes in our own half without drawing the opposition forward for a sucker punch. I remember our beautiful game where our wingers used to do a one-two (not laterally like we do now) in the opposition box and wingers drive till the touchline and pull it back with 2-3 guys waiting for it and feel saddened that we do not have such skilled players now. As a central striker he is, of course, more likely than any other player on the pitch to be in this position, behind the actual creative midfielder. For instance, if it were Koscielny that was up there, it would be a very important and interesting statistic.
