I cud safely say that there isn’t one person on this site who didn’t, and doesn’t like Wenger to bits. Its not about one interview, but 12 years of failure. However Wenger says things that are so delusional, that its hard to trust him with Arsenal’s future. He had 12 years to fix this, and season after season after season all we have seen is stinginess in the Transfer Window, stubborn refusal to buy any players, and what is more to say there are no players that cud possibly improve this side. No player in the World cud be brought… Read more »

I think the media really loves to single out Arsenal and Arsenal for their failures. Where’s the pressure on other clubs and managers who have failed to win trophies? “Wenger needs to leave, he hasn’t won a trophy in 12 years!” but he has elevated the club, we are a bigger club than we were 12 years ago,IMHO, and study the context of the past 12 years. I want to win the league next year, though, and I think Wenger gets one last chance from me next year. Next season is really important for the club’s future. BTW Why don’t… Read more »
I hate the 12 years argument. Until the Puma deal, everyone knows but chooses to ignore the fact that we were struggling with the stadium debt. We had to sell our players in order to meet our financial obligations. If Arsene is to be judged post Highbury, surely it should be after the Puma deal as it enabled us to actually keep our players and allowed us to buy new ones. It’s not a coincidence we bought Özil & Sanchez for big money after. In the 3 years since the Puma deal we’ve won 2 back to back FA Cups.… Read more »
Tell Leicester that financial restraint stops you from competing for the title.
That bullshit about the stadium is complete utter horse shite, just an easy excuse for an under achieving team/manager.
The other bs is that if it wasn’t for Wenger we wouldn’t blah, blah blah. Of course we would, the seven seasons previous to Wenger we won 2 league’s, fa cap, league cup and a European trophy.
Leicester winning the league is a one off. We won’t see anything like this again for the next 30-50 years. I’d be willing to bet a huge sum that Leicester don’t even finish top 4 next season. As for this season, every big team has had players injured. Weve had Cazorla, Wilshere, Welbeck and Walcott for so much of the season. Would Leicester still be in this position if Mahrez/Vardy/Kante were injured for 3-4 months? I doubt it. Money is proven to increase your chances of success. United used to spend at least £30m per window under SAF. Chelsea and… Read more »

Look, I am in no place to speak for Gooners who pay high ticket prices to go to the matches (although I do buy apparel from Nike and now Puma), but he doesn’t seem to talk about that at all.
Always fans, pundits and the like. Never his policy or the financial part of this board charging the fans the most expensive tickets in world football.

I have supported Wenger as long as I thought possible but I am tired of these loose tactics. They are not enough at this level any more. Maybe if we had an XI on Barcas level. Even then we see Atletico beat them. We have focused on defence at times over the last few years and appeared to turn a corner. Then our confidence (arrogance) returns and we think we are too good to defend. We struggle to the point of no return (5th). Discipline returns and we scrape fourth. The cycle continues. I seem to rate our players more… Read more »

His statement about the the group being disappointed at being out of the title race around 9:25 is unconvincing. I don’t detect any major sense of frustration from Arsene at his team falling away after being in a promising position in January. It seems that once again he has decided that his team’s inability to sustain a title challenge can be explained by external factors that are out of his hands whether it be injuries, other teams failing to beat Leicester, or the atmosphere at the Emirates. All of which doesn’t bode well for any hopes that Wenger will make… Read more »

wenger is the luckiest manager in football history – after a failed youth experiment with Monaco, he legged it to Japan to be brought back to manage the best back five in English football, supported by Keown, Bergkamp and Parlour; and he had the first pick of the greatest generation of French players, who not only drove us to titles, but more went to Chelsea – Desailly, Le Beouf, Gallas and Deschamps, and won them titles too.
As soon as those players went, we won nothing. we did get another failed youth experiment though. fact.
this! young people saying Wenger made Arsenal forget to see the backbone Graham left here. We kept the clean sheets and with classy strikers Dennis Henry Kanu Wiltord we finally scored too. the squad was so filled with quality that the “go out n’ have fun” nonexistent tactics finally worked for Wenger. even the transfers and quality signings were mostly Dein’s responsibility, whom warned us not to trust the American board and Emirates deal.

Wenger has never been a truly consistent winner. His career is characterised by early success at a club followed by a spiral of decline. He was fortunate in taking advantage of experienced defences when he joined Monaco and Arsenal, but has never been particular good at building them from scratch. It’s one of his biggest blind spots, and something he will never admit to. Just look at the list of defenders and DMs signed by this club who have not made the grade, here or anywhere else. You simply don’t win anything meaningful with a suspect defence. He’s well into… Read more »
He’s an outstanding manager. There are 20 clubs fighting each year to win the Premiership – only ONE can win. The clubs with the biggest sums of money to pour into player transfers and salaries will inevitably stand the best chance. So, have we done badly under Arsene Wenger …? I agree our defence needs more robustness and consistency. Maybe, the outstanding UK candidate might be Virgil Van Dyk, at Southampton ; John Stones will probably be an outstanding player in the future, but right now, he’s not the answer to our immediate need. Views of an older supporter. We’ve reached the conclusion of a very interesting campaign, far removed from a procession behind the richest 2 or 3 clubs that we are conditioned to accept each year. But what’s changed from our viewpoint as untreated Arsenal addicts..? I turn back the pages of my personal history book in my mind and alight upon a cold, misty night at the start of May 1971. I am standing on the upper tier of the White Hart Lane terrace – they called it “the shelf” – in line with the edge of the Sp*rs penalty area.… Read more »
