Debuchy ruled out of European Championships

Mathieu Debuchy has been ruled out of the European Championships this summer after picking up a thigh injury at his loan club Bordeaux.

The French international fell behind Hector Bellerin in the Arsenal pecking order this season, and from the start of the new campaign was agitating for a move away, citing his desire to represent France in the tournament, played on home soil, as the key factor.

He moved to the Ligue 1 side on deadline day in January but has had in injury hit time there, making just nine league appearances for his loan club since his arrival.

In truth, having lost the confidence of Didier Deschamps, Debuchy was something of an outside bet to regain a place in the France squad. Bacary Sagna is expected to be first choice with Lyon’s Christophe Jallet providing back-up.

The 30-year-old will likely be sold by Arsene Wenger when he returns to London.

Disappointed for Debuchy – 2 major injuries derailed his career. But that doesn’t excuse his behaviour after losing his place to Bellerin.

Hope Wenger can find a RB to properly challenge Hector

Phahaha. Ha

Sorry if it’s a dick move to laugh at a playing staff’s misfortune. But he’s hardly been squeeky clean during this whole debacle.

Nothing wrong with laughing at him. He spend half the season acting like an unprofessional shameless sulk who resented the fact Bellerin stopped him from walking into the starting eleven. I can’t remember the last time a player moaned as much as he did. He even had the nerve to publicly state he was annoyed that Wenger blocked a loan move to United, one of our rivals! Try comparing him to Gibbs, who faced a similar situation. My only concern is that his injury might impact our ability to move him on this summer. Because I don’t want this cretin… Read more »

Debuchy bitched, whined, and aggrevated for a move away after being usurped by the infinately superior “Him, Bellerin”, in the misguided perception that said move would guarantee his assured place at the Euros. And now he’s picked up and injury and been ruled out? Well, excuse my schadenfreude.

Guess it wasn’t such a good idea to burn your bridges at the only big club that will take you, in order to try, and fail, to go the the Euros then, was it? xD

I loved his hits from the 1980’s – some proper disco…very similar to ‘Prince’.

Oh sorry I thought we were discussing DeBarge.

Good news for him, avoids him the sadness of not being selected.

I feel something vaguely resembling sympathy and it feels weird. Despite all his efforts he missed his last shot at the one thing he wanted the most. Still, he could have put a bit of effort on the pitch on the few occasions he was selected. Either way he can eat a whole bag of dicks.
