Arsenal are being linked with yet another left back, this time it’s Brazilian international Douglas Santos.
Reports from Hoje em dia, a paper reportedly close to Santos’s club Atletico Mineiro, say the Gunners have joined the chase for the 22 year old, with Barcelona, Valencia and others interested.
The player joined Mineiro after an unsuccessful spell in Europe, starting with Granada in Spain from where he was loaned to Italian side Udinese. He made that move permanent but rarely featured before going back to Brazil.
Arsenal have been linked with a number of left-backs in the last few months, including Leicester’s Ben Chilwell, Celtic’s Kieran Tierney and Wolfburg’s Swiss international Ricardo Rodriguez.
Whether or not Douglas can carry on the fine tradition of Andre remains to be seen, although we’re pretty sure if he put his mind to it he could grow large with fish and chips before driving at 130mph down the M25.
He probably couldn’t do this though.

Yikes, not another Santos…I’m seeing double dos. Personally I feel we do not need a LBack. We need to be mindful of GIbbs and Monreal getting older and we need to find someone into academy who can develop over next 2 seasons. The real need defensively is at Cback now. The excellent and underrated BFG and Koscielny are both 30+ Gabriel whom many erroneously think better than Metersecker because of his pace is still developing.
