Roma ‘working’ on Szczesny deal

The will-he, won’t-he situation regarding Wojceich Szczesny and Roma continues after the Italian club admitting they’re working to secure his services for the upcoming season.

The Polish international spent last season with the Serie A club and put in some eye-catching performances for them. Even though they have signed Brazilian Allison, they look to be keen on another loan deal with the Gunners for Szczesny.

Manager Luciano Spalletti said, “We’re working on Szczesny, for now we have Lobont,” referring to 38-year-old Romanian Bogdan Lobont.

The situation is a little odd though as previous reports had suggested they wouldn’t bring him back, while he may find himself required at Arsenal this season if David Ospina leaves.

The next couple of weeks should bring some clarity to proceedings however, as the two keepers return to London after their summer international exploits.

Vincent Kompany's Forehead/Jamie Vardinho

someone on here made the point of potentially loaning him to Everton, as they are in need of a goalkeeper

ThurrkeyOnRye

Didn’t they just buy Martin steklenberg?

Vincent Kompany/Jamie Vardinho

My bad i forgot about that

Your forehead has gone missing.

I would prefer that he stayed and learned from Cech and would rather let Ospina go. Szczesny will benefit a lot from Petr and Ospina deserves to be playing regularly for a club.
If he and Ospina both want to leave, then we’re in a very unhealthy situation.

Emi is a decent back up, until cech picks up a lenghty knock…

Nacho de Montreal is tasty

Szczesny too deserves to be playing for a club regularly.

Szczeny for Lukaku seems fair I think.

Are you guys sure you didn’t just read an out-of-date article from before Roma said it wouldn’t be happening?

Then why would u pose such a question?

The one position where we actually have decent strength in depth… being Arsenal would not be surprised at all that Ospina gets injured just after Szcz confirms season loan to Roma leaving us one Cech misfortune away from having to play our under 21 reserve GK.

Well we’re linked to Rugani 21yrs 6’3 Juventus. 20m + Cback. Also Manolas at Roma 25yrs shorter at 6’1 Cback The striker will need to come down in price for us to accommodate the Cback should we add at the back (which IMO we should) These are all specious gossip though at this point. Also more noise on Draxler but its a 50m+ price tag which is considerably high. 42+m for Lacazette which is also high. When you consider China is in the mix with Hulk bought at 47m then Pelle at 12m, you can see how there is a… Read more »

Jesus you’re long winded.

Maybe he or Ospina can play up front. Imagine Szc attacking defenders at a corner!

Ok I’ll go now. Moment of madness over.

Godfrey Twattschlock

I can see Szc doing a better job of it than Theo. Until he forgets himself and grabs the ball in the opposition box.

High berry

He could grab John Terry’s balls in the opposition box and I’d buy him a beer

This article is the kind of nonsense I expect from the papers. Wenger has been very clear ever since last season that Cech was promised one season without competition, that Szczesny will not be loaned out again, and that he expects WS to displace PC as first-choice within a fairly short period. All this speculation is absurd, because Arsenal have made no secret of their plans.
