Arsenal finished their pre-season tour of the US with a 3-1 win over Chivas Guadalajara last night. The goals came from Rob Holding, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Chuba Akpom.
Check them out below:
1-0 Rob Holding
2-0 Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
3-0 Chuba Akpom
Chivas got one back in the second half after Mathieu Debuchy conceded a penalty, but nobody wants to see that. A good win and a good way to finish off the tour.
What a beauty by the Ox, I bet that boy has been learning a thing or two from the mighty Alexis.
Satisfied. I don’t know whether I’m happy to see Ox killing it cuz it means we’ll not need a RW or I’m sad that it’s temporary and it might convince Wenger not to buy when we actually ought to.
Thinking similar, would love to see Wenger grow some balls and shift players once the times right. For example now would be the perfect time to sell Theo Buy Mahrez and tell Ox that’s his competition. Granted that would leave us another striker short… so buy another striker.
That goal from Ox though…???
Akpom definitely stepping up,kinda like Harry Kane started scoring in his breakthrough season. Hopefully if he manage to get 10% success like ex-arsenal man,I’ll be a happy gooner. P.S : Lacazette, Mahrez and Mustafi pls…
Pls Ox make it permanent…..a huge fan
and no more injuries to the poor fella, he’s had enough. What an amazing goal!
How do you guys like the shirts? I like ’em because I’m older and I can see them easy with those bright highlights.
What a goal by the Ox! Here’s hoping this time his pre season form carries on into the season. There’s a world class player in there somewhere.
That Mathieu fella, with the right mindset, would provide healthy backup and competition for Bellerin. I hope Arsene will talk him into that, now that the Euros are gone, as I’m sure he doesn’t see Chambers/Holding as future RBs and Jenks still out medium term.
I watched the game early hours on fox sports. That Mathieu fella was a complete liability, was extremely lucky not to get sent off, was getting completely roasted by a chivas youngster. And losing his poor little fragile mind. Camball had to Play the fight back slot for the last 5 minutes of the game as Mathieu was on self destruct and didn’t have a clue how to defend and gave away a cheap penalty……
He needs to go.
I stayed up all night to watch the game and I must say it was worth it. Chamberlain killed it, he was immense. How I wish he could exhibit that kind of form in competitive matches cos he was this good in the previous pre-season games and became awful in competitive matches. Carzola seemed to have pick up where he left off, Xhaka was tidy in his passes and we might just have a gem in Holding. He needs to curb some of his bursting runs forward as it leaves the defense quite open to counter attack. Theo seems to… Read more »
I would really like to see Jenkinson make it. It’s a shame he’s having trouble with injuries and finding consistent form. But wouldn’t it be lovely to have someone in that backline who truly loves the club from his boyish heart?
Could anybody see the Ox as a striker? He’d be a handful with his power and the way he runs at defenders. Plus, it would totally negate his shotty defending.
Nope.
…and Jenko’s got a better record in goal than any of our other keepers…
Played 1 Conceded 0. 100% Perfect Keeper.
Very encouraging signs so far when you consider who we have yo return and could possibly be getting in. Xhaka looks like a great addition that’ll add experience and composure to the midfield, Holding looks like he’s having a great time so far which is always great to see (just hopefully his confidence won’t get damaged like Chambers after a promising start). The good results in pre-season are definitely making things feel a bit more positive. Just hope the club can for once realise getting 2 or 3 of these deals over the line will put us in a far… Read more »
Anyone noticed the good relationship Xhaka and Santi seemed to have on the pitch? And how about our little magician playing with a spiky edge even though it is preseason. Looking forward to a healthy Santi and what that could mean for our midfield.
absolutely!….and more than a couple of times, gave the chivas guys, a healthy dose of his two footed magic, which left a number of their players for dead, to the delight of our american fans, who were in fine voice, i might add….the little magician!
Nice games by Holding, Ox, Akpom. I remember before last season he also scored a very good goal but then his season wasn’t great. Hopefully this time his form carries on into the season!
Oh and I liked the 3rd kit a lot…..
I give up.
What type of wishes their player to play badly so they can be replace? I will take the Ox any day to Mahrez.
Some of us just like to jump on a bandwagon.
Again the youngsters did great. Lovely interplay and tactical awareness.
Mahrez is more consistent and on another level compared to Ox. Stop being so biased despite that I want us to keep Ox and sell Wally
mahrez had one good season ….
The Ox is one of ours and boy, he will come good.
I also want the Ox to be great buddy, but reality is he has not been good in the PL. And Mahrez is on a different level, that’s the reality of things
I don’t know why everyone wants a right-sided midfielder? Alexis started for us on fire on the right and a few games as a No10, then we moved him to the left in the January and the goals+assists dried up. He stayed on the left until almost the end of last season when fit and he wasn’t very good, when we moved him back right, he started scoring again. Ramsey can play on the right when we want to control the midfield. Wilshere can play right cutting in on his left. Chambo is a right sided midfielder. Players who can… Read more »
No Wilshere in the squad, any idea on the reason for that??
I think I saw him on the bench.
That goal from The Ox made me feel funny in my trousers.
Not bad not bad… ideally we get both but if I had to choose one over the other than would definitely take a striker over CB signing.
Chambers and Holdings looks promising and are decent 3rd choice backups. Would be no major disaster if either had to stand in for a few games especially given that we’ve strengthened in the DMF department – Coq, Granit and Prince of Egypt that should in theory provide better cover.
If we want to really challenge for the PL we need to stop choosing a postion over the other and go for both! And we’ve seen time and again with our injuries records we need both a main striker and another CB.
I’m not going to try tempt fate and say again this is ox s year but the goal last night and the one against lens immense ??? Let s hope he can stay injury free and hold his form and two in two for akpom both poachers finishes, just saw the interview where all the journo dos was ask about Mahrez to Wenger ???
I really like this kit. It’s simply cool.
That Coq pass for the 3rd goal ?. Watch out, Mesut!
The game seemed much more exciting with the Mexican commentary: http://arsenalist.com/f/2016-17/chivas-vs-arsenal/chivas-de-guadalajara-vs-arsenal-highlight-pack.html
looking forward to seeing what our strike duo of Chambers and Holden are capable of!!
Yeah that’s some strike duo right there.
A Regal performance. See what I did there……
Watching the team play the last two games reminds me how good we are.
I feel slightly less doomed.
Chuba loves a preseason goal doesn’t he?
Would be nice to see him kept around this season as a cup option and substitute.
