Hertha Berlin want Gnabry on loan

Hertha Berlin have confirmed that they’re interested in taking Serge Gnabry on loan from Arsenal.

The 21 year old winger has been tearing it up at the Olympics, scoring 5 goals until now, and it’s a display of the talent and potential we saw when he first burst onto the scene.

Since then a serious knee injury hampered his development, before a loan spell at West Brom that proved hugely unsuccessful as he made just one Premier League appearance for the Baggies before the deal was cut short.

Now, Gnabry is attracting the attention of the Bundesliga side, whose coach Pal Dardai told BILD, “Serge exactly meets our search parameters,” Dardai told Bild. “Let’s see what will happen in the next couple of days.

According to the not always reliable Transfermarkt, Gnabry’s contract expires at the end of this season, leaving him free to depart on a Bosman if he chose.

As yet Arsenal’s intentions towards him remain unclear, although Arsene Wenger is a big believer in him and could well bring him back into the fold when he returns from Rio to provide another option in the wide forward positions.

Merlin's Panini

That’s nice. Can we have a new centre back and a striker please? Thanks.

Oor Wullie

Stop being a bawbag, this is a story about one of our players and just because it’s not about players coming in doesn’t mean it’s not relevant.

TexasGooner6

I thought it was funny.

Merlin's Panini

I was only joking. I like Gnabry and I want us to keep him and play him.
Whilst I do want a new centre back and striker I was taking the piss. Sorry if that wasn’t obvious.

Cliff Bastin

Should take Walcott’s spot in the squad.

Lindhe

Word.

Eternal Titi Berg Pat Nostalgia

Give Walcott a break. He was our best player last weekend,

Tom.H

Never our best, he did play very well…for 45 mins, that pretty much sums him up though. Flashes of quality but no consistency.

Eternal Titi Berg Pat Nostalgia

Who else played well for 45 mns ? Tell me.

Alex

Let aside Akpom, Iwobi and Reine-Adelaide and let’s trust in Serge!! He is the big deal!

Gunner From Another Mother

I like Gnabry quite a bit, but I believe Iwobi will be a very important member of the squad this season. Pretty he stole Walcott’s place in the squad during last season, or at least I think he’s earned as much.

Stillmatic

Good on you Gnabry, always believe in you.

Unfortunately you returning makes you a threat to Walcott’s status and position in the team, and no way Wenger wants that.

Best you can hope for is a contract extension and a loan. Would hate to see you get treated like Joel Campbell does.

Serge Gnabry

Dear Stillmatic,

Thank you very much for your concern, I’m really grateful that you’re looking out for me.

All the best

Your profile pic looks different. But I believe it’s you.

The Silbag

Hilarious!

Wizardry

We need to sign new fans. It felt like there were 60,000 Liverpool fans at the Emirates on Sunday.

Bobby P

You clearly weren’t there. It wasn’t like that at all

David C

It definitely sounded like that on the tele though. I get where he’s coming from, but again it’s the chicken/egg argument. We need to the team/manager/board to inspire the fans sometimes too.

Bobby P

So on the tv it sounded like sixty thou singing Liverpool songs? Or that the whole stadium cheered when coutinho scored? The Liverpool fans were pretty quiet until 2-1. There was a lot of shouts of support at 4-2 and 4-3 but pretty much every teams fans are quiet during a 20 min period that the away team scores 4. The problem is not the fans it’s Arsene and his players.

Neuni

The fans are the problem aswell. Too many gloryhunters at the emirates. looked like they becoming arsenal supportes in the invisible era. moaning middle class babys in an american style business arena.
Where are the good old rainy times at Highbury ???

rossi88

I reckon we will bring him back and sell Campbell.

Crash Fistfight

That comment doesn’t get any more interesting or amusing the more you post it. Once was enough.

215 Arse

No, what we need, and have needed for seasons on end, is a new striker and a new central defender. It only felt like Anfield because we got trampled and fans are pissed off that Wenger is waffling about.

Stillmatic

Don’t you just hate it when fans who likely don’t have a seasons tickets or go to games tell fans who own season tickets and go to games that they aren’t as good as fans as they are from behind their keyboard?

something cool

“exactly meet our search parameters” – Hertha Berlin searching for players like most of us on FIFA. Enter Age group, nationality, wages and press search. Browse and think I could sign that guy.

Crash Fistfight

At least it saves money on employing scouts. I don’t know what Arsenal employs them for – all we seem to do is watch Revista de la Liga or the Bundesliga highlights on ITV4 with the tall German lady to identify our targets.

Das Gooner

A real Serge in interest since he’s been Gnabrying goals in Rio. Yeah, I went there.

Crispy

Well done sir and i don’t dish out ‘thumbs up’ to just anyone

Bennis Dergkamp

It won’t herth to give him some first team action.

TamilTiger

I was there.
Lots of people having a go at each other
Good atmosphere mostly especially during the nearly comeback

AusGunner

Hertha is kinda my 2nd team and I like the Sergester so I’d be happy with him going there if he has to go on loan at all :~)

Crash Fistfight

Looks like you could use a nose-job.

Petit's Handbag

Or show some balls and finally sell Walcott?? Free up some room for an actual football player.

glory hunter

What a stupid comment, selling Theo doesnt solve our problems.
Buying better players is all we should be focusing on, not getting rid of existing players

Jorin

Good luck to him if this happens. Great talent. Needs to kick-start his career again. That phase he had a couple of years ago, including that strike against Swansea, was very promising.

Flashmob

Dardai is a cool manager. As far as mentality/professionalism concern – Gnabry would be at the best place…
(But we should definitely give him a new contract before!)

ico

Hertha suck. Good luck to Serge tho.

Juan Cornetto

Gnabry has 6 goals so far at the olympics.

Crispy

I like Gnabry.

Sign a contract extension, take the loan and come back next year, where there might be a new manager who has a clue and sees success measured in trophies and not cash reserves.

Adham

Hector Bellerin want Gnabry on loan.

Frank

Probably better than Walcott, But so is Campbell, yet Theo is the one who gets to play.

glory hunter

Theo plays bcos he’s our most prolific wide player(after Alexis) and thats a fact!
I agree that hes not very good, but in a team with no recognized striker, it made sense to start Theo.

And lets not forget he actually scored 😉

Bendtner's Ego

After he completely cocked up the penalty that he never should have taken.

Stillmatic

Tbf it’s easy to be our most prolific wide player after being given infinite chances for a decade.

Give Campbell half of the opportunities Theo has and I’m willing to bet he’s provide just as much, if not more, whilst not being a defensive liability.

wellarsed

NO!
