Alex Iwobi has been ruled out for three weeks after picking up a thigh injury in the opening day defeat to Liverpool.
The Nigeria international hobbled off the pitch with the score at 4-1 to the visitors and was replaced by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
It looks likely that the Ox, who enjoyed a solid pre-season and scored off the bench in the 4-3 defeat, will play on the left side of midfield against Leicester on Sunday.
Aaron Ramsey, who lasted only two minutes more before picking up a hamstring problem is also out until after the next international break. Santi Cazorla or Mesut Ozil will likely fill the void.
Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s game with Leicester on Saturday evening, Wenger said: “Two to three weeks [out] for Ramsey, it’s not a bad injury. Iwobi as well.”
It’s hoped both Iwobi and Ramsey will be available to face Southampton on 10 September. But it’s Arsenal, so that could be in 2018.
Interestingly enough in Fifa I smash dudes with an Alexis Walcott Ox front line. Too bad it’s just a game.
This makes me sad, is it too early to start drinking?
Nah I don’t think so, seeing as this shit seems to have been happening for almost a decade now.
It’s five o’clock somewhere on the planet so, cheers!
Some one reads 9gag a lot
Good point! Perhaps we could train our medical staff to start building new players from the working parts of the injured ones. If you imagine Frankenstein’s monster playing football, that’s kinda what I had in mind.
Kroenkenstein
So basically Costa?
A fully fledged Arsenal player now.
When you talk of Frankenstein’s monster you may be referring to Diego Costa?
Yes, he would do nicely!
Well, midfield is one area in which we’re blessed with many options. Perhaps this will see Wenger reintroduce Campbell to prove his worth again. And Cazorla in the Ramsey role will give us some more chances to see Santi flourish with his creativity.
Although, I feel like he’s proved his worth enough. Not an outstanding player, but a very solid squad player. He was good when he played last season, surprising to not see him even on the bench last Sunday.
I’d like to see us to play a proper winger, who goes down the outside and hugs the touchline. All ours seem to come inside and crowd the midfield.
I prefer Santi to Iwobi a this stage. Santi makes things happen although he is not the future. Ozil for Ramsey too is positive going forward if not defensively. We need to control the balls out of defence in midfield and these two will achieve that better.
JC is not a superstar but I prefer to see him on the bench as an alternative later in games.
I am glad it is “seemingly” just a matter of weeks, instead of months!
So much for not going to the Olympics..
