Wenger reveals team news ahead of Southampton

Arsene Wenger has provided a team news update as we get our Premier League campaign underway again tomorrow when we face Southampton at the Emirates.

After the Interlull it seems that everybody is fit and well, apart from Aaron Ramsey who is still sidelined with his hamstring injury. There will be an assessment of Alexis Sanchez who arrived back late from international duty, with the Frenchman taking into account Tuesday’s Champions League clash with PSG as he selects his team for tomorrow.

Alex Iwobi is back in contention having suffered an injury on the opening day against Liverpool, while the manager has yet to decide on the participation of new signings Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez.

“I haven’t decided yet, that’s a decision I will make today,” he said.

COYR.

My Southampton supporting fan isn’t optimistic, says Puel is trying to put square pegs into round holes with his team selection.

They have been a bogey side over recent seasons, let’s hope we do it.

Crash Fistfight

If you think they’re a bogey team, look at our record against Swansea the last few years!

CB

True, the Swansea match at home last season was v painful, though we tonked them away. The season before last it was almost all the S teams – Stoke, Swansea, Southampton and Spurs. Though not Sunderland.

Crash Fistfight

It would be nice to start beating Stoke away. It seems like every time the fixture comes round we have a load of key players missing.

Gooner

You spelt Shit wrong.

Gooner

Admittedly very late, but having just watched some YouTube videos of Lucas I’m bloody excited to watch him play for us. He looks to be exactly the sort of player we’ve needed up front for a long, long time.

Frankenbeenie

who’s fucking down-voting this? Common lads start supporting the team now, transfer season’s over, the squad is set. Time to keep the criticism bottled up till end of season. Hopefully it won’t come to that. We’ve done well in the window, albeit a little late.

Crash Fistfight

No need to pick on the common lads. The posh ones need to support the team as well.

Frankenbeenie

ouch!

Crash Fistfight

Sorry! I’ll give you an up-vote to make up for it 🙂

Arun

Epic, can’t stop laughing.

Özorlexisey

Would be to go on a lengthy nice winning streak.

bournegooner

Yes. I’ll take a 35 game streak please.

Andy G

36 would be better, no?

romford pele

Santi would agree, no?

Arsepedant

35 league matches
13 CL matches
6 FA Cup matches
6 EFL Cup matches

A 60 match winning streak would be best.

So basically no team news

utk

well we know iwobi is back. and ramsey is still out. alexis may be out and being saved for tuesday meaning we could see our new boy Lucas play maybe on the flank or even at striker! Mustafi is a guaranteed starter anyway

Crash Fistfight

I barely acknowledged any football happened over the interlull.

Usually I at least watch the England game and grumble about how none of them can pass, move or control the ball properly, but this one was especially unwanted and boring.

I’m hoping to see the new boys in action, especially Perez, as I think that’ll mean we’re winning comfortably enough for him to come off the bench 🙂

Steinn

I’m guessing same team as last time except Giroud coming in for the Ox, and hopefully Mustafi coming in for Holding.
If Sanchez doesn’t make it then my guess is that Iwobi plays rather than the Ox or Perez.

Can’t wait to see Lucas in action but I’m sure it will be from the bench.

bob davis

It would be great if both our new signings played and we gave Southampton a good hiding. Been ages since we’ve thrashed a team properly.

Kafkush

This is so true. We don’t seem to have a game anymore where everything clicks and we’re totally irresistible. Even the watford game, second half didn’t turn out like that 7-0 against Everton did it.
Miss those killer power and technique days

NoSuarez

Any news on giroud?
