It’s EFL Cup action tonight as we face Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, the first time the teams have met since 1999.

I think Perez and Akpom will be interchangeable, on up front and one on the wing. And they may also rotate into a 4-4-2 from time to time.
It’s a very fluid line-up with lot of pace. I quite like it. Not a whole lot on the bench, though.
There’s Willock, Zelalem, and Dasilva. I love the bench. Hope these 3 make it on somehow.

Wenger may remember his performance in the Flamini Derby at the same stage last year. Debuchy was awful in that match.

That’s a really below strength squad barring Xhaka and Eleneny.
Even the bench is scarily shorn of firepower. Any reason we are taking the cup so lightly despite being knocked by Sheffield last year?
I actually think this is a pretty strong team. Most players are either potential 1st or 2nd choice except for keeper and Maitland-Niles who are actually potentially very good players. And oh, I probably don’t rate Akpom as much. Would have preferred Willock who is much more exciting.

I think it’s a good thing. Throw some trust and expectations at them. The lineup’s no slouch for talent so they can do it if they just take their chance.

Was full back in the u 23 game against Liverpool. On the evidence of that game, he can’t play right back as he was awful and looked like a winger being played out of position. Oddly enough.
That is a proper OLD SCHOOL League Cup team, that is. Love it.
Not much experience on the bench if things go pear shaped, though if Arsene is using the League Cup to give fringe players a run out i’ve no problem with that.
I like trophies as much as the next person, but if there’s any competition to experiment in it’s the League Cup.
A team that has certainly not played together before.

Really dont like our bench. It is still a senior competition. should have walcott cazorla and ozil on the bench for protection. and Is debuchy not a member of the squad anymore?
It’s the least important competition we enter against a team a couple of divisions lower. If the youngsters can’t win, that tells is what we need to know about them. No point in risking injuries to 1 st team players if we don’t need to.
The players need to win this game for continued game time.
However, I don’t think AW is interested in this competition IMO.
Hopefully a loss won’t knock the confidence of our new players because this is not where they are really needed.
Reaaaally don’t like the idea of Maitland-Niles at full-back. That said I didn’t used to like the idea of Bellerin at full back…

Hopefully opposing managers will now think twice before deciding to park the bus. They now have the option of inviting a shot which Xhaka is capable of executing or trying to stop Xhaka pinging one into the top left by breaking out of formation thus creating much needed space between the lines.
