… yeah yeah, off a cliff or a tall building. We’re way ahead of you there, Internet. We know your game.
But after his comeback last night against Reading, Jenks is determined to try and force his way back into the reckoning as much as possible.
“Hector has been fantastic so far,” he said, “and he rightly deserves to be playing regularly.
“He has been brilliant so it is up to me when I get chances to play as well as I can and push him as well as I can.
“I have just got to keep grafting away, stay fit and play as much as I can and when I get opportunities I have got to take them.
“I have got my foot in the door, played against Reading and hopefully I can play in the next round and get some opportunities here.”
And as an Arsenal fan living the dream of playing for the club he supports, he’s delighted to be back in red and white.
“I loved my time at West Ham,” he continued. “I played a lot of football and it was fantastic for me. It’s a great club and I enjoyed every minute I had there, but it is great for me to be back here now.
“Arsenal is my club and it is an honour every time I pull on the shirt. I still want to be good enough to play here.”
And you know he’s not going to give it any less than 100%.
ps – rumours that he did actually push Mathieu Debuchy off a cliff are entirely without merit. Probably.
Love this guy
Clearly the real reason for Ox’s recent form is the return of The Corporal.
His performance last night was worthy of a Lieutenant, imho.
The Corporal. Fantastic attitude unlike that Debuchy guy.
Gooner
This. If only he had his dad’s singing abilities too though.
None of us are perfect.
True. For me it’s the fact that every now again I get a little bit restless.
There was Bergkamp
Even God didn’t fly.
Mozart loved the smell of rotten apples.
Would love him to succeed with us, but don’t want Bellerin to leave or get injured. Dilemma.
When the games start coming real thick and fast, that dilemma should go down a few pegs.
Team rotation is healthy. .
And just like that he’s put himself higher on the pecking order than that other fellow
Sorry, who again?
We’d all love to see Jenkinson push Bellerin…towards a Pull Door
That..doesnt make sense.
Get a life you titfart
A case of multiple personality disorder?
Where IS Debuchy?!
Who gives a shit? We’ve got Hector and Jenks.
Jenkinson can never get to the level of Bellerin
That’s a bit mean spirited
…. unless he pushes Bellerin down to his own level.
Hmmm
You can’t join them? You beat them-
Top lad. Right flank looking well-stocked for the foreseeable future.
I’d be perfectly happy for him to be our right-sided Gibbs (under Monreal). Bellerin can’t play 55 games in a season, so we need a guy to spell him for 10-15 starts a season, and more if Bellerin ever gets injured.
Arsenal DNA 😉
Refreshing to see this kind of attitude after Debuchy threw a strop. So much more professional and positive
Debuchy wanted to be selected for the Euro in his home country so he was disappointed for not playing and losing that last opportunity for a big tournament. In the end, he got injured playing for Bordeaux and old Sagna had another plan for him. I understand why he was very unhappy.
Top notch attitude from our Corporal. He may not be as talented as Bellerin, but by God does this lad have heart. Debuchy could stand to learn a thing or two from Jenko.
“Arsenal is my club and it is an honour every time I pull on the shirt. ”
Top Gooner!
Jenkinson and Gibbs are absolutely brilliant and perfect squad players. They will give it their all when given the opportunity, push the first choices, and never moan. To them it is an honour, as it should be, to wear the shirt and they don’t stay just for the pay check. In every squad in modern football, it is so hard to keep everyone happy especially if they are not regulars, and we are very lucky to have them both.
Does anyone remember when Debuchy was explaining how Bellerin had taken his spot as first choice right back, but he wouldn’t refer to him as ‘Hector’, he just kept saying ‘him’ ?
I need to push Bellerin…. OFF A CLIFF MAYBE?
HAHA.. I know…I do crack nice ones every now and then
Unfortunately today wasn’t one of those times.
Off topic, but am just back from seeing Thierry Henry in the flesh in Mumbai, India. Still buzzing. He’s in excellent shape & blew away the crowd with his no look passes and kick the ball with the wrong leg skills. He was welcomed by chants of Thierry Henry and the crowd started chanting his name every time he tries to speak!!!
Jenkinson looked much more composed, got in some nice attacking positions, and for first match, liked most of performance, can we pay someone to take Debuchy in January?
As good as Hector Is at full back, I can’t help thinking one day he might be ripe for a move further forward. I think if he was to bulk up a bit he could become a world beater in the Ronaldo/ Bale mould
Jenkinson is a great player to have around, but with those knees I’m just worried that every now and then he’ll fall apart
I hope not. With Debuchy missing, we need him more than ever.
I love this guy. Want to see him score a screamer and celebrate like that Italian player who went mad
I think too much is made of Jenko just because he is a “gooner” He has improved granted but sometimes, the improvements (and ratings) are exagerrated bc of in built bias. I think Jenkinson has a great opportunity to push for the second spot behind Bellerin. BUt I also do think (if hopefully he gets more opportunity on loan) Calum may also be in frame and we will take stock end of season. I think there is a role reversal this season with Calum going on loan but in truth, he should be reverted back to his natural position which… Read more »
Chambers way to slow to play right back.
I will say this for Jenks, I think his crossing is slightly better than Bellerin’s, and he is significantly better in the air.
With that said, Bellerin is ahead of him in nearly every other department.
Agreed, with the qualification that I think Jenko’s a much better “pure” crosser, but I think that’s largely down to the differences in the tools that each has available to them. Jenko has great endurance (and underrated pace), but he’s not really a threat to beat anyone off the dribble. The best way for him to contribute to an attack (aside from being an outlet), is to be able to deliver a quality cross. Hector, on the other hand, due to his superior pace and technical ability, can contribute to the attack in a number of different ways. His forte… Read more »
Didn’t expect anything else from out Corporal
What a bloke, living most of our dreams
Strange this… haven’t read the word “banter” anywhere in the comments section!
In the event of he being sold or his contract running out, i’m prettty sure he’ll leave some stuff at london colney so he has an excuse to come back.
People tend to hype Jenko up way too much. I understand he’s a gooner but a bit of perspective would do to serve some well. What I like about him is his commitment and of course he is a no nonsense player. His weakness is he isn’t as technical. This is where Calum has an advantage over Jenko (albeit Jenko looks to be the quicker) Still the greater worry at the moment is Chambers. Clearly developing him as a Cback seems difficult considering he now has Mustafi, Gabriel and HOlding ahead of him (all natural to position), even assuming Koscielny… Read more »
Jenks could be great for us in the long term if he’s willing to continue to be backup to Bellerin for the forseeable future. You need a second RB in a team for cover, but it’s hard to find space in the team for two RBs of equal quality. There’s nothing wrong with being the cover, and him being an Arsenal fan himself presumably makes it a lot more palatable for him to in that “5-15 games a season” role than it would be for someone who doesn’t care about the club. If he can make 15k a week or… Read more »
