It’s Champions League action tonight as we face Bulgarian side Ludogorets at the Emirates.
Here are the official line-ups.
Arsenal: Ospina, Bellerin, Mustafi, Koscielny, Gibbs; Cazorla, Coquelin; Walcott, Ozil, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Sanchez.
Subs: Cech, Gabriel, Monreal, Xhaka, Elneny, Iwobi, Lucas
Ludogorets: Stoyanov, Palomino, Nataneal, Abel, Dyakov, Cafu, Minev, Moti, Marcelinho, Wanderson, Misidjan
Subs: Borjan, Cicinho, Sasha, Quixada, Keseru, Plastun, Lukoki
I would’ve liked to see Perez from the start; anyway, come on!
Lucas over Ox in my, but Wenger loves to play the favoritism game. Ox can come off the bench for Theo. Let a “real striker” ball
Perez over Ox for sure
Looks like he wants to give Coqzorla a run out before the massive Boro game
Strange no xhaka when he misses next 3 games anyway. Would also liked to have seen perez and sanchez on bench if needed.
Lucas is on the bench.
If my knowledge of the Laws of the Game is still intact then xhaka misses only one game
I thought it was three games for a straight red, one game for two yellows.
Xhaka misses one game because it wasn’t “violent conduct”. Otherwise would have been three games.
It’s three games
Professional foul(stopping a clear goalscoring opportunity) is two if I’m not mistaken. Violent conduct(reckless challenge to Cantona) can be anything from 3 to long.
Depends on the straight red. Red card for being the last man is one game, last man for violent conduct (including Xhaka’s) is three games.
For the love of God can we see Perez come on, hopefully when we’re two or three up.
It’s like having a shiny new toy and batteries aren’t included so it just sits there!
Looking foward to tonight’s game. COYG!!
Let´s do this
Happy with that. COYG!
Wenger sure isn’t much for rotation. I’d like to have seen him give Kos and Coz a day off. With those guys in their 30’s, they are going to break down if we keep playing them 2x a week.
This is Champions League, not EFL Cup against some division 2 team. Four changes is enough. Kosicelny, Cazorla, and Sanchez will get the day off against Reading.
I actually quite like this line-up. There are some fresh legs in it, there’s tons of pace, and it’s very strong even with all the changes. I think my bet of Arsenal minus two goals will be a winner.
*Koscielny
Wanted to see Perez in for Walcott
Otherwise??
When do we get to see elneny start :/
Glad to see the ox get a starting spot.
I basically like the changes, except for leaving Lucas on the bench. It would bev a good time to givec Sanchez a rest and really see what Lucas can do. Its going to be a long season and we need to use our “depth” to prevent injuries as much as possible from overuse. Playe get tired and injuries happen.
I am definitely now convinced that Lucas was bought to “shut us, the fans up”. Wenger never wanted to buy any “striker”. he succumbed to pressure of the public in my opinion. Any other opinions??
Seriously? Leave the fentanyl alone, mate.
Perez instead of Sanchez. Otherwise, I like this.
It’s 3 games for violent conduct or serious foul play.
Xhaka is eligible for CL games.
I have horrible feeling there’s an injury in this match somewhere.
Good squad rotation though, chuffed for Gibbs – he’s has some great cameo’s this season. Let’s hope our boys come out with a win and unscathed! If we’re up by 2 by the 60th then would be great to see Perez and Elneny.
yes i like this squad line up full of pace we know xhaka will miss games but this i feel is more about seeing if Coq’s injury will see him out i guess he will bring xhaka on at 75 minutes but Elneny needs game time too
Usual uninspiring choice. Show some faith in your squad arsene!
Care to reconsider that thought?
Would have wanted Holding instead of Kos, Elneny instead of Coq, Perez instead of Walcott, Akpom instead of Sanchez. I know Holding n Mustafi would be very shaky but I really think with his history of Chronic Tendonitis it would have been worth the risk to give him a rest.
It is still a Champions League game, and not the EFL cup. If we are to top the group ahead of PSG and get past the first knockout stage, these games are crucial to win, and score as many as possible. So we need a strong team.
Yea but from what I’ve seen in EFL I think we can count on the bench this season
U know what, after seeing how the opponents are playing, I’m glad I’m not the coach pheww , good job Sir Wenger with the squad selection!
ooooooooooooooooospinaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!
sorry gays. keyboard got stuck there
It’s a good level of rotation if you ask me. Don’t want to disrupt things too much. Let’s qualify and then we can rotate a bit more. COYG
Cicinho is still playing?
Strong side. Plenty on the bench. What’s not to like.
The over reliance on Mesut and Alexis is worrying. These two guys are going to need a rest soon especially with one playing the Euro and the other Copa America, and unfortunately i don’t see that happening until Wegner has no choice but to put someone else in when one of them inevitably gets hurt.
You should be able to sit those two in a game against this level of competition.
Two great goals! Score one more and we can rest Alexis and Mesüt! Gibbs and Ospina are playing well!
Now, sub Alexis and Õzil. I would like to see Perez and Awobi on for them.
Ok, will accept Santi may need a rest. Still think we should wrap Alexis and Õzil in cotton wool
I am glad Mezut did score his hat trick. Congrats.
