Lucas Perez got his first ever Arsenal hat-trick last night, in the 4-1 win over FC Basel (report and goal clips here).
It was a fantastic piece of team play from the Gunners. Rob Holding picks up the ball at 13’36, from there Arsenal make 33 passes, and the only outfield player not to touch the ball is Gabriel.
The ball hits the net at 15’14, one minute and thirty-eight seconds later, without a single touch from a Basel player. Enjoy.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t the Basel goalkeeper touch the ball before Lucas puts it into the net?
Get outta here with your so-called facts!
Ha ha ha…don’t spoil it. It is not that the ball was touched while it was on the way to the back of the net. ?
No, the ball touched him. Solved
Blog actually meant to say “a Basel outfield player”.
There you go. Add “outfield”.?
Fair enough, just being a pedant. In fairness, Ospina touches the ball as part of the move too, so Blogs can just move the “outfield” from the previous sentence.
Can I help it if I’ve just been watching this goal a lot?
Great move but Holding’s composure at the start may be underrated. We keep possession and build from the back rather than blazing away
We’ve had a few moves like this this season which is good to see, and I credit many of them to Mustafi’s ability on the ball which allows us to play out from the back better and more often. But Holding is almost as capable, which is great to see. Real all-round defensive talent
What vision from Ozil with the defense splitting pass…
Someone should’ve passed to Gabriel imo. What an oversight!
Hahaha I can imagine Wenger shouting, “Wait! Wait! Gabriel hasn’t touched it!”
Selfish Bastards, could of given Gabriel a touch.
*could have
Our pride
Guess Basel were singing… ‘Please can we have our ball back. Please!’
OK. Fair enough. There it is, in your net.
The Swiss TV commentators (SRF which I watched) were claiming Perez was offside. Now from the video for me it was a very tight call…
