Granada have confirmed that Tony Adams as their manager for the rest of the season after Lucas Alcaraz and his coaching team were dismissed following a poor run of form.
Granada are currently 19th in La Liga and face an uphill battle in the final weeks of the season to maintain their top flight status.
Alcaraz, in his third spell in the job, only took over from Paco Jemez in October but has achieved only four wins in 24 league games.
Last week it was revealed that Adams had been working in an advisory capacity at the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes.
The former Arsenal captain completed a move to Spain after spending last season working with Chinese Superleague side Chongqing Dangdai Lifan who, like the Andalusian side, are owned by Shanghai-based businessman Jiang Lizhang.
It’ll be interesting to see if Big Tone can rescue Granada, were he to do so coaching reputation would enjoy something of a boost after disappointing spells in England with Wycombe Wanderers and Portsmouth and a low-profile stint with Azerbaijan side FC Gabala.
Granada face Celta Vigo at the weekend, then games with Sevilla, Malaga, Real Socieded before hosting the might of Real Madrid. Osasuna and Espanyol complete Adams’ baptism of fire.
Good luck!
Best of luck to Tony Adams.
I am not convinced that this legendary defender is a good manager.
Please prove me wrong.
Up The Arsenal!
Seems to me that could be a tough run-in! I hope he comes out the other side alright. If he does, I’m sure the fans there will love him.
So pleased this legend is still in the game. Best of luck Tone.
Would love to see Big Tone keep these guys up and do well, but I’d be surprised.
If he does well with Granada he may then get offered a role with Thames.
Or indeed, Radio Rentals.
They’ll qualify for the champions league.
Good luck Legend
Good luck Mr. Arsenal!
I’m not sure he’ll ever make it as a manager but why not have him at AFC to do defensive coaching?
Or mental strength teaching.
