Video: Arsenal 3-1 Everton – On the whistle

A final day 3-1 win over Everton wasn’t enough to secure Champions League football next season as Liverpool beat Boro and Man City spanked Watford.

It was a costly game because of Laurent Koscielny’s red card, and an injury to Gabriel on top of that looks set to leave us short defensively ahead of the FA Cup final next weekend.

Off Topic but a quick look at the bottom half of the table and you find only 6 (!) points separated safety from 8th (!) place. 6 points are the difference between the point of relegation and top half. A real gulf being developed between the elite managers and the rest. We need a new one now as well so we don’t get scooped up into the pile. But until the end of the cup, let’s get behind the team one last time. They will need our support and let’s face it, preventing Chelsea from winning the FA Cup would… Read more »

We were one point off fourth mate with a higher points total than last year and the first team ever not to qualify for the CL with 75 points. No need to panic…yet

Wellarsed

Didn’t watch the video? Eighteen points off the title isn’t much to be smug about.

I wasn’t being “smug” Are you a journalist?? 😉

In fact, only twice in the last 12 seasons, since 2004/05, have Arsenal had a higher total than this season’s 75 points: 2007/08 (3rd with 83 points) and 2013/14 (4th with 79 points). And in Le Prof’s first season as Arsenal manager (1996/97), 75 points was enough for Man Utd to win the PL.

Let’s face it, the leading 4 teams (arguably, the top 6 or 7) have never been so far ahead of the rest of the field. It was, in other words, a season when the top teams excelled, and Arsenal were sadly runners-up.

Well, getting behind the team for the Cup Final may be your last time, but I sure hope it’s not mine — whatever happens then or over the next few months, I will still be supporting the Arsenal. 45 years and counting…

Hey Mike,
I didn’t mean about supporting Arsenal. My thought was about whatever protest or plane banners anyone was thinking of flying.
We can protest afterwards all summer but let’s give the boys the 11th and 12th man.
After all, Anthony Taylor will surely send atleast one of ours off.

OK, I guess I made a hasty comment, and I hoped I knew what you really meant. No offence intended.
