Arsenal have confirmed that Takuma Asano will spend another season on loan at Stuttgart.
The Japan international enjoyed a successful campaign at the Mercedes-Benz Arena scoring four goals in 26 appearances as Hannes Wolf’s side earned promotion back to the Bundesliga.
Asano, who signed for the Gunners last July from homeland side Sanfrecce Hiroshima, is yet to fulfil the necessary criteria to earn a UK work permit.
Regular football in Germany’s top flight should certainly stand him in good stead for a future career in the Premier League and increases his chances of making Japan’s World Cup squad for Russia 2018.
For the time being, we’ll have to wait to see him in an Arsenal shirt.

As a 22 year old striker who scored 4 goals in the German second division I’m not sure I’m too excited about him being a future star at the club
Watch some of his highlights. He is pretty good with one on ones, assists/pre asissts well but mainly makes terrific runs down the flanks cause he is superbly paced. The highlights alone makes me hopeful of him being somewhat of a Vardy type striker

Did you even follow his season? He didn’t play as a striker, and he played well. Maybe he’ll never make it at Arsenal, but he’s a talented young player, and it takes more than reading the right-hand sidebar on a Wikipedia page to dismiss a player.
Gonna miss his “groping the breasts of a large woman” celebration.
Next season is the chance this lad needs. Stuttgart want to make an impact now and he has a chance to wow them.
I’m a tad worried about the work permit situation. Despite Asano’s having been in every Japan squad since signing for us, he might not hit the 75% needed, leaving it to the Exceptions Panel who take into account things like transfer fee & wages over first team game played.

My apologies…I’ve hit a wall at work….
Damn, I wondered why he wasn’t on the kit builder. I was going to order one Asano shirt, one Debuchy shirt and one with Yaya Sa-No-Goals on the back.
If he isn’t good enough for Arsenal, I reckon we’d still get a nice cheque for him. Who knows how he’ll do in the Bundesliga. He’s made a lot of starts, he’s clearly settled which is better than a lot of our other youngsters can muster (cough, Crowley). Longer loans are the future.
