Youngster makes Bundesliga move to Vfl Wolfsburg

German side VFL Wolfsburg have announced the signing of former Arsenal youngster Kaylen Hinds.

The 19 year old attacker will join up with former head of the academy Andries Jonker who took over as manager of the Bundesliga club in January.

The Dutchman also took youth coach and former player Freddie Ljungberg with him, and they obviously know Hinds well.

The announcement on their official website says:

The 19-year-old has been taken on as a possible prospect for the professional team and will participate in training activities with the Bundesliga side. Kaylen Hinds, who will wear the number 32 jersey, comes from Arsenal’s Under 23 team, with whom he was also involved in twelve UEFA Youth League matches.

Hinds never made a first team appearance from the Gunners, but did have a loan spell at Stevenage last season.

Good luck to him.

On the one hand our youngsters are being sought-after by top-division foreign clubs.

On the other they still aren’t good enough to break into our Premier League, first team squad.

Both implications bode well for us.

Take that Stevenage!

Magneto

Good for Hinds. I’m glad that he has the courage to try his luck abroad, and wish him well. Hopefully we agreed a sell-on clause as part of the deal.

Faisal Narrage

Strange one.
I mean, it seems he wasn’t thsthifhky rated at Arsenal. But for Jonker and Freddie to specifically go after him, they must know something, surely?

Paul

thsthifhky means top top quality?

A different George

Isn’t he our new Polish keeper?

Adithya R

I am guessing that highly, but what do I know might be the name of the polish keeper as other commenter below said.

Clive St Helmet

No, it means covfefe.

AusGunner

probably that he might be good enough to turn out for a clib like Wolfsburg, but not Arsenal, making him gettable and worth a punt

Faisal Narrage

But there are so many other players they have a realistic chance of getting. Zelalem’s contract is almost up, Toral is on the fringes of first team, etc. We had players who won’t make it but went on loan to decent leagues like championship, Scottish, Belgium, France, etc. We pay a decent sum for an academy loanee to league 1 and didn’t even have a great loan at the age of 19? It’s a strange one. By all accounts it should be a mistake, but they are more informed on pure academy then almost anyone. So why do they rate… Read more »

I like how The Sun is reporting this with the clickbate title “EXCLUSIVE: Arsenal loses ANOTHER youngster!!!!!” Filthy clickbaters.

This move is a good one for both parties. Clear some room/salary by selling a guy who looked as if he wouldn’t break through with the big boys and give the kid a chance at a club where he may be able to do just that with a coaching setup he’s more than familiar with. All the best to him.

Donald\'s Trump

It’s bait as in bait. Not bate as in maturbate

Indian Gooner

Please don’t sell him to Bayern Munich the next season. Thanks.✌?

If more English players make the move abroad, I can guarantee England will win the world cup by 2200

Bob Le Dreamy

It is only a good thing for football in this country that young players are going to ply their trade aboard. Hoping for a national team with some of the tactical awareness and intelligence displayed by the likes of Portugal, Germany, etc., in years to come!

Bob Le Dreamy

Abroad *. It’s been a boozy afternoon.

Rwandan Gunner

The exodus of young Arsenal players seem to be relentless this season. A wise move for BFG to come and put a full stop to this unbecoming norm

eduardo

yeah per need to keep them all, have 100’s of youths here in a couple of years time, that would be the way to go.

ClockEndRider

I thought it wouldnt tie long for the doom o gees to come out to play. When Hinds ends up playing successfully for a major club and we end up trying to bug him back for a ridiculous sum, I’ll agree with you. Until that point let’s just laugh at United and Chelsea for doing exactly that.

ClockEndRider

Doom o gees? Irish cousin of Bob Carolgees? No, meant doommongers. Sorry.

Tasmanian Jesus

Damn you Jonker!
I didnt know he had stolen Freddie!

santori

Its time for the Jeff to kick on this season IMO.

he’s about same age as Mbappe, different type of more languid player but can be someone sooner than later.

Should keep a spot open in the first team next season for him to snatch at opportunities.

Oooh ahhh Ray Parlour

I’m really pleased to see these youngsters moving abroad, good luck to him.

I’m also looking forward to seeing who can capitalize on the extra opportunities the Europa league will present. It’s time for The Jeff and Maitland-Niles to lead the way of the class of 2017.
