According to L’Equipe, Jeff Reine-Adelaide could spend the forthcoming season on loan with Ligue 1 side Nantes.
The 19-year-old midfielder was excluded from the squad that toured Australia and China and didn’t feature in the Emirates Cup leading to questions about his future.
While he did feature in low-key matches with Leyton Orient and Boreham Wood, the fact his first team squad number, 31, was handed to new boy Sead Kolasinac raised further eyebrows.
It now looks as though Arsene Wenger has decided the France youth international should garner further experience back in his homeland with Nantes open to the opportunity.
dont be jack grealish or dan crowley son!!
learn from Francis Jeffers
An excellent move for all concerned. The Jeff, for all his talent, was stagnating a little in youth football– playing competently, but rarely dominating games– and maybe there’s something to the whispers about disciplinary issues or a lack of focus. If Wenger is still open to giving him a future at Arsenal, then this gives him a chance to kick on at first-team level. If he doesn’t want him back, then good performances at Nantes could help us find a buyer.
Exactly . I don’t know what exactly is the issue with him. He is more talented than willock and other u23 players but willock and others almost always outshone him and won the player of the year for our u23 team. The talent is clearly not the issue but the application of the talent is.
At thus point loan is good solution . though I wouldve liked if he joins Lille under Marcelo biesla or nice under favre.
Loan move out really sounds the death knell on his arsenal career
Why loan him to Norwich’s sister club?
Because they play at a hight level than Norwich?
Really strange there was no mention of his over the tour from the club. Unless I missed something
Last year Wenger upgraded him to first team then gave him zero game time in the league. Those saying he disappointed, have you seen him play in the league ? Cause he didn’t. Wenger was either wrong upgrading him to first team or not believing in him thereafter.
He started all the league cup games and two FA Cup games, completely normal for a guy in his debut season promoted to the first team.
It’s too bad his career has progressed as it has. He had so much talent and potential when we first saw him in the preseason a couple of years ago. Like with so many other young talents we will probably never see him with the first team unfortunately in meaningful matches.
Umm, he’s 19 and going out on loan. We’re not at Jermaine pennant level just yet…
Lens failed to reach Ligue 1 last season so they’re still in Ligue 2.
Good thing he’s going to Nantes then eh?
I am afraid this would be the first step of a way out. I am so sorry for the Jeff, I was really looking forward seeing him establish himself in the senior team. Instead of that, he lost his place in the first team.
I feel sorry for the Jeff. He barely played any football last year because he was moved up to the first XI but was never picked, but because he didn’t train with the u23 team he was often dropped by them too and obviously had little cohesion with the others when he did play. A loan will do him good
Jeff is talented player,Wenger should give him chances to show his potentials,i gess after 3 yrs jeff Will be 40$m worth
2 pre-seasons ago he was generating so much more excitement than Alex Iwobi. Personality is such a major factor at the highest level.
+ attitude and work-rate
I’m all for this one personally. He is a player that needs some first team football and I think more young players should give Europe’s top leagues a try. One to keep an eye on guys. Maybe he does have a few disciplinary issues and hopefully a short term move can help him out. Has a lot of talent so I hope he succeeds and comes back with a mindset on breaking into the first team. If he has a good season at Nantes there is no reason why he can’t.
I better start packing my bags!
Watch out for Alex Iwobi this season!!
