Ramsey pleased to hit Arsenal milestone

Aaron Ramsey says he’s ‘delighted’ to hit a half-century of goals in an Arsenal shirt after reaching the milestone in today’s 2-1 win over Swansea City.

The Welshman tucked home Sead Kolasinac’s inviting cut-back on 58 minutes to seal the Gunners second half comeback against stubborn opponents.

“I’m delighted to reach 50 goals for this club,” Ramsey told Arsenal.com after the game. “Hopefully there’s a few more to come yet!

Swansea took the lead through their first chance of the match as Sam Clucas stole behind the Gunners defence to slide past Petr Cech on 22 minutes. As was the case last week against Everton, Arsene Wenger’s men stepped up the pace after the break to seal the points and to maintain their 100 per cent winning record at home this season.

“I’m just delighted to have played a part in winning this game today,” added Ramsey.

“They’re a quality team and it was difficult in the first half. But we stuck at it, we knew we had the quality and it’s important to win at home. I’m just delighted that we won the game today and we kept our 100 per cent winning record at home.

“We have quality players throughout this team and down the left-hand side today, we were more dangerous. We’re delighted to have these sorts of players in the team who can create opportunities and I’m pleased to be a part of that.

“We’ve started well at home this season and we got a good win away from home last weekend. We want to build on that, become stronger away from home and hopefully continue this run that we’re on as well.”

If only Ramsey has Wilshere’s turn..

yen

Good. Getting on the scoreline week in week out is the only way of justifying his adventures going forward.

Stringer Bell

32 goals in 220 games. He’s our Frank Lampard ??

yen

Well it’s fair to point out those are 50 non-penalty goals. I saw on Twitter Pires and Ljunberg are the only other midfielders under Wenger who got past the 50.

Badaab

Cesc is still on 49 and he has nearly twice as many games played in the PL.

Stringer Bell

You have just made that up. He has played 90 odd games more. Nearly twice as many ?

Badaab

The goals bit, no, but the games bit I pulled out of my arse.

BromleyGooner

I love a made up stat

BromleyGooner

Ramsey plays a way more offensive position than Fabregas. I am sure no one is crazy enough to compare the two players

Heavenly Chapecoense

He played more than half or his games down the wing.

Levonson

Dont ever change stringer

Rufusstan

There are always those who will find the cloud in a Silver Lining.

Thierry bergkamp

There will be 2 more bargains in the summer.

Runzac

13 games winning strike at home. Impressive for a club that is suppesedly in utter shambles

Nas

Well said

Little Mozart

50 goals is impressive for the position Rambo plays, especially when you consider the injuries he’s had to endure. Here’s to the next 50!

Goontang

If he could replicate the goalscoring form of a few years ago, celebrities would be hiding in fear, not to mention our opposition.

Gandalf

Ramsey has been coming out a lot more to talk about the team, think he’s being groomed to be our next captain.

ritabhash

A captain who himself is out of position for the entire match almost? Thanks but no thanks. Would prefer somebody like Nacho or Cech to keep the armband for the considerable future

Assistantref

That’s obviously a fake quote, it doesn’t have him saying “ever so well” even once. Whoever took Melania has taken Aaron Ramsey too.

Aphex Triplet

As long as he’s “delighted” everything will be “quality”

Michael Bolton Wanderers

If we switch to 3 central midfielders instead of 3 central defender’s, I think Ramsey is the one who really would benefit.

Loose_Cannon

Ramsey would benefit hugely but I think Xhaka would benefit as well. Having 2 willing runners either side of him or letting him get more forward and having a more defensive player behind him would help make up for his deficiencies

BromleyGooner

With current squad I disagree. Two of the main reasons we moved away from a midfield 3 are that Ramsey, Xhaka and Ozil don’t work as a midfield 3 and Ozil doesn’t work on the wing in a 4-3-3

Wengerballz

Yup, can’t play 433 with Ozil because he doesn’t like being on the wing. So have to wait until the summer to switch.
