Arsenal take on Cologne tonight in the Europa League, looking for the win that will see them top the group.
As ever for this competition, Arsene Wenger has rung the changes from the team that beat Sp*rs 2-0 last weekend.
Here are the official line-ups.
Cologne: Horn, Mere, Maroh, Sorensen, Horn, Jojic, Ozcan, Klunter, Guirassy, Cordoba, Osako
Subs: Kessler, Olkowski, Risa, Lehmann, Rausch, Nartey, Bisseck
Arsenal: Ospina, Debuchy, Mertesacker, Holding, Chambers, Coquelin, Elneny, Maitland-Niles, Wilshere, Welbeck, Giroud
Subs: Macey, Iwobi, Akpom, Nelson, Nketiah, Sheaf, Willock
Why is starting debuchy in cb and rb!! Wenger has lost it!
Don’t cry about it
Seeing how he’s been excellent at RCB, I suspect it is to not break his flow
Blogs originally had debuchy twice in the lineup, once in rcb (where chambers will be playing) and once in rwb. @Mistafi was just making a joke about that.
Maybe AW feels that Debuchy is better suited as a center back at this age because of his positioning ability and experience. Same thing he did with Monreal.
Have to say I’m much more content about Europa League than I anticipated. Great opportunity for many to get some quality minutes. Always happy to see Jack get a start.
I was just thinking that yesterday, I’ve really enjoyed watching Nelson, Niles and Willock, and we wouldn’t have seen king Eddie do his thing if we weren’t in this tournament. Plus it allows us to keep our starting 11 fresh for the premiere league. Hopefully we can capitalize on it, and not crash in winter like we normally do. I think we’ll start to see the impact in Jan-Feb when most other teams start getting a lot of injuries and dips in form. We’re the only team in the top 6 that gets to rest their starters for the cup… Read more »
Strong team given they are all reserves.
Debuchy is so good he has been cloned. And Chambers?
Strong squad so let’s hope for a strong performance. COYG!
Should get a more exciting match than the two against Red Star, and more goals – hopefully for the away side.
Cologne’s team is looking quite Horn-y…
Just missing the Goat Hennes…
No defenders on the bench?!
Elneny, Chambers, or even Coquelin can slot in there should anything happen to Mertesacker / Holding.
You must mean ‘No defenders on the bench other than Sheaf’…
Strong enough squad to do the job against struggling Cologne I’d say! Be nice to see Welbeck get on the score sheet.
And am I right in saying Eddie Eddie Eddie and Willocks contract run out next year? Because that would be a schock and very un-Arsenal! Guess that makes 2 top players and 2 top talents up for grabs come January.
Please correct me if I’m wrong.
These players should get the job done. COYG!
Strong line up…slight concern about pace in the back 3, but Debuchy and Coq are quick and can cover
this line has zero creativity…not single passer or dribbler of the ball
Errr Jack?
You need to win to keep the momentum up.
Why is Debuchy still at the club?
Total rubbish…
I don’t wanna believe some of these guys will have a chance to join the first team when sanchez and ozil leave.
They don’t seem very good at this football thing.
I would keep Nelson and Maitland Niles and Giroud of course.
And have the rest euthanised…
What a shit line up – devoid of any excitement, adventure for the fans going out there… Coquelin and Elneny with Wilshere upfront is an absolute joke!
