Wenger reveals latest team news ahead of North London derby

Arsenal face Sp*rs this weekend in what it is a crucial North London derby, and Arsene Wenger has provided the latest team news update.

Following the Interlull, there are still some players yet to make their way back and into training, they’ll be assessed later on.

“We have some people coming in today,” said Wenger, “like Iwobi who is flying back from Russia to Nigeria, and from Nigeria to London.”

With regards those who didn’t go on international duty, the manager has to make final checks on them, in particular Danny Welbeck and Shkodran Mustafi who have missed the last few weeks with injury.

“We don’t know where they stand at the moment,” he said. “We have a medical check today, and a recovery check today.

“Mustafi will have a final check tomorrow, Welbeck as well. We’ll make decisions about all of them tomorrow.”

We need a strong team out – SOL upfront and a strong bench.

Hope we put in a strong team and lots of effort, then we have a chance.

Pedant

Or is that AOL?

Arun

You surely meant the Invincible SOL upfront.
I will take 11 Sols all day long against the Sp*ds.

Sheffield Gooner

Just hope it’s not AWOL.

I’m worried about this one. A good win would be something good to take from this weird season.

Jean Ralphio

We do need big Sol right now

ClockEndRider

So the news is that there is no news……tricky customer that Arsene.

Arun

Precisely.
News is that we will have news tomorrow.

Fox In The Director\'s Box

Unfortunately, although I hope I’m wrong, I don’t think it matters who is available and who is not as the result will still be the same. Despite the fact that it pains me to say it, the Manager of the scum has built a really good strong team whereas under Wenger, we have gone in the opposite direction.

Danny

That’s fighting talk!

Sheffield Gooner

Probably not the best timing, but hard to disagree.

KartiK Patel

my support to Arsenal. The match against Spurs you can see how arsenal are to strong. yes they don’t have good start due to some bad referee decision. Now its turn to arsenal. i think this is the year Arsenal can win EPL.

Possession

We didn’t have a good start due to some horrific team selections, bad planning in the summer and lack of tactical nous and no KP , we are not going to win the EPL.
We can however win on Saturday.

Yet in 3 of our 4 defeats this season the officiating has played a huge part. Hopefully this season it will even out over the course of…. hahaha yeah right!

clins

new supporter i guess . just wait for another year or two for the reality to kick in. as long as wenger is our manager……

Clive St Helmet

He looks terrified.

Might explain his expression. I’ve mistaken terror for sorrow.

PeteyB

Iwobi flying Russia to Nigeria, and on to London? I understand hell be traveling with the team but you’d figure there would be options to fly directly.

TeeCee

Probably some obligation to return with the team before being released.
Bloody stupid if so, but it’s to be expected with anything Fifa had a say in. They invented bloody stupid…

allezkev

I’m sure that he could have flown direct to London, but I guess he’ll be on the bench for Saturday anyway

bdotm

How many times am I allowed to give a thumbs up to TeeCee’s comment?

espen

The midfield defense will be key to winning this tie.
