Arsene Wenger says Arsenal’s record 14-game winning streak at the Emirates is a testament to his squad’s patience when faced with stubborn defences.
The Gunners haven’t dropped a single point at home since the 2-2 Premier League draw with Manchester City in April and can extend the sequence with two home games this week against Huddersfield and Manchester United.
Ahead of the visit of the Terriers, Wenger noted that the impressive record is fostering confidence in his squad.
“We have been a bit more patient, better defensively as well, more secure defensively and could make the differences many times in the second half,” he said.
“Then you build the belief and the strength that comes from the history of the team at home as well.
“We feel that we can turn it around, no matter what happens. Certainly, the home support makes a difference as well.”
“That’s the target,” he added, when asked whether the Emirates can become a fortress like former home Highbury.
“It’s too early to say that because I don’t think the period is long enough to assess.”
Here’s to two more wins and six more points in the coming days and many more victories at home after that.
Fortress Emirates, love it.
Hopefully Fortress Emirates can develop a bit more atmosphere as this run continues. It can really rock (the NLD proved that) and its up to everyone involved to make it that way more often. If the team befitting from the crowd is true then we could have ourselves a virtuous little circle. COYG
What’s happened to Arsenal Gent? I’m desperate to hear his recount and analysis of the game against Middlesex! Its not like he has much on, other than stumbling around his manor getting gout. Come back Gent!
The Emirates will never be Highbury…however, it can become its own!
Pogba will be a handful again. Going to require a real team effort defensively to keep the streak going. Not to take Huddersfield for granted.
Very impressive and I love every bit of it!
