It’s more Premier League action, and a chance to make our away record more respectable as we face West Ham at the London Stadium.
Arsene Wenger has made a number of changes, and reverted to a back four.
Here are tonight’s official line-ups.
West Ham:Adrian, Zabaleta, Reid, Ogbonna, Cresswell, Noble, Obiang, Arnautovic, Lanzini, Masuaku, Antonio
Subs: Hart, Rice, Collins, Ayew, Carroll, Sakho, Chicharito
Subs:
Arsenal: Cech, Bellerin, Koscielny, Monreal, Maitland-Niles, Iwobi, Xhaka, Wilshere, Alexis, Ozil, Giroud
Subs: Ospina, Chambers, Kolasinac, Coquelin, Elneny, Welbeck, Lacazette
Why was Laca dropped? Punishment for revealing Wenger’s ambitions?
Or maybe Giroud was rewarded for scoring a late equaliser?
Giroud probably starts getting more game time in order to avoid any agitation for a January move.
It’s good management to piss off those that want to stay.
Playing koscielny again, I can only assume Wenger wants to see what a snapped Achilles looks like
Don’t think we’ll see per in the pl again unless there’s an injury crisis
Save him for the Cup Final
Nice line up COYG
Keeps Bellerin, drops Kola, plays AMN out of position, no sign of Holding. Carroll must be looking forward to coming on to cause havoc if we’re not 4 up by then.
Jack will play better off Giroud than Laca, Ozil to make runs too.
It’s a team that says we’re into half season re-plan.
AMN is a young player and very versatile. So I guess in this idea of never playing a player out of position means he would never play unless injuries ravaged the club?
That looks like a mid table team to me.
Can you imagine the carnage when Andy Carroll comes on against Monreal?!
apart from kola and laca, nobody is dropped.ramsey is enforced.so u r saying without kola, laca and ramsey we are a mid table team?
We’re currently 6th so yes
And if Monreal is the best we can come up with in a centre back pairing i’d expect us to go down to 7th soon too
As i said, we’re now 7th! Not a surprise to me
Would 5th with half a season left be considered mid-table? Where is the cut off for mid-table?
Erm….
Well, I certainly didn’t expect Maitland-Niles in there, but I’m excited. Also, I can fully understand why Giourd gets the nod tonight (Lacazette was slightly injured before United game and has played a lot recently, and the nature of tonight’s game might suit Giroud better).
Let’s see Xhaka-Wilshere partnership (assuming that Iwobi starts on either wing). Doesn’t look too good defensively but going forward this is a decent pairing.
COYG.
Wilshere, giroud, iwobi… Including ozil, I can imagine lots of beautiful moments with these guys on the pitch….. Lotsa sweet interplays…. Hopefully a couple o them translate into goals.
Coyg
I was hoping for the same as well but till HT it’s been a snoozefest
Should be ozil beind laca and giroud not with sanchez imho
Worth a shot
COYG!!!
Let’s hope we don’t get a reminder of why we went to a back three in the first place, ie. both fullbacks bombing forward.
Bellerin lucky to keep his place.
COYG!
Niles should have replaced bellerin but I guess kolasinac is tired and not used to play the boxing period of games.
I’m feeling a norwichesque giroud Wilshire link up. COYG
This does not look like a cohesive team.
Striker who relies on effective crosses, and a makeshift right footed left back. Three CMs not renowned for their tackling ability (and Mesut) against a team that literally just turned over Chelsea.
I hope the players do well.
just 2 crosses to Giroud in the whole 1st half.
erm… that looks like a haphazardly arranged defensive line to me…. I’m hoping it works however…………………
433 or 4231?
I hope niles plays well. Out of partook position when he could easily have put chambers at cb and Monreal at lb
Nothing like learning from mistakes and flogging a payer in the red zone. Poor kos
Its the managers job to make changes.thats what he gets 10m a year for.we can slate once the match is over and he is proved wrong, but for now lets back the boys.#COYG
Why not. Something has to change.
Debuchy injured again? Surely deserves a go with Bellerin being a bit shite recently
Maybe it would not be a good idea to put Debuchy up against Arnautovic, considering what happened last time.
On the one hand, this is an interesting line-up with several clever changes that might well be well-suited to playing against a new manager who us looking to shut up shop and sort the defence out first before he makes more expansive changes.. it he ever does. Plus starts for Wilshere and Giroud are deserved, and Maitland-Niles is an exciting change. …on the other hand, this is madness! A change of formation and changing so many players in the line-up at the same time? What?! Inexperienced players out of position, Lacazette dropped again when surely he’s fresh as a daisy… Read more »
Maitland-Niles at left back is an interesting one. There must be a compelling reason to not play Holding at the moment and he must really not rate Chambers
What has happened to rob holding
Would’ve benched Xhaka and maybe started Chambers as he’s a superb ball player. Wenger clearly starting Giroud to please him. Oh well, anything less than a win is a disaster.
Last time I thought we were starting a back 4, Coq ended up at CB…
Anyone who has watched Kolasinac recently should not be surprised..The only surprise is that Bellerin did not follow him to the bench.
Are you setting back 4? Iwobi at left back would not surprise me! 🙂
Theo not even on the bench?
Where’s the live blog
Jack’s done well so far, passing forwards
Leaderless Arsenal. No player wants to take charge. Same old same old.
So we go behind the Spuds again. Shower of shit!
