Arsene Wenger has provided an injury update as Arsenal prepare to face Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
Tomorrow, the Gunners make the short hop to Selhurst Park – scene of one of last season’s most disappointing results – knowing that three points are a must after wins for Liverpool, Chelsea and Sp*rs on Boxing Day.
We’ll be without Nacho Monreal for the Palace game after the Spaniard sustained an ankle problem in the 3-3 draw with Liverpool last Friday night. He’ll be out of action for around ten days.
Olivier Giroud’s absence with a hamstring strain has been put at 4-6 weeks, following earlier reports that the French international could be sidelined until February.
Aaron Ramsey remains out with his muscle strain, but is expected back at the start of January, perhaps in time for the game against Chelsea on the third of the month.
Beyond that there appears to be a clean bill of health, meaning Wenger has plenty to choose from for the game tomorrow night.
Palace are on form, Zaha looks on fire and Hodgson even seems to have got Benteke believing in himself again. Palace are always up for it against us at at their place.
We’re gonna have to be up for it just as much or we’ll be in trouble like last year.
Come on Gunners, we need a good ending to the year! Let the ball go skraaaa pop pop!
Let the ball go WHAT?
Soooo, Mustafi is ready? ???
Not looking forward to this game at all. There’s definitely something wrong with squad in terms of playing system and style.
Palace gonna look to counter us, and with Zara and Benteke, they have two players that can cause us a lot of trouble.
I think we need to be wary of H&M and Bershka too just in case
Something wrong? To be successful almost everything must be sorted out at a big company. 1.We made a mess trying to sell Alexis last minute. 2. We made a mess trying to buy Lemar last minute. 3. Key players are running out their contracts. 4. The manager didn´t answer anyone about his contract for months building yet more uncertainty. 5. ManC have Fernandinho-Manu has Matic-Chelsea has Kante- Bayern has Vidal – Barcelona has Buscuets- PSG has Verratti – we have Xhaka as DM or not as DM or no DM. We need a real DM. 6.We play Alexis even if… Read more »
We didn’t try to sell Alexis at the last minute.
We were made an offer at the last minute that the club considered.
Ahh, I see, the same minute we tried to buy Lemar – long 60 seconds ? Last minute or last hour or hours. Potate pitato. The club is not sorting out vital matters and it shows on the field.
Nah, I’m with Andy on this one. City thought they’d be all clever and try to short Arsenal at the last minute and fucked that deal up all by themselves.
Despite the fact Alexis has gone full primadonna on us, Arsenal did the right thing telling City to do one.
It will be a difficult match, but depending on which Arsenal turns up, we should have enough to win the game.
Mustafi for Monreal, and the team is set. I hope Kolasinac slots in at left back; we need his strength and forward runs.
CP will come out to play and that should suit us better than Soton and West Ham.
No matter who’s available or not I’m not optimistic about the Palace game or any of the upcoming games. While you can say that in the league we’ve been disappointing by Arsenal standards for a number of years we seem to be in a really poor place this year. We drift along scraping a win, there’s the odd humiliation, we defend poorly, the midfield has it’s shortcomings and our goalscoring has been better. There appears to the ordinary fan no plan or vision as to how things will improve in the short term. Changes are being made with the recent… Read more »
How many clubs are performing on a consistent level right now?
Stop with this myopic world is falling apart stuff. Every club struggles.
Taking just a few points, so you’re happy with the level of performance? You think we’re on an upward trajectory? You’re content with the Alexis/Ozil contract situation? Far from being short sighted, I sadly have a clear view of a club in slow decline & to argue anything else is beyond belief. But hey, we might win tonight & everything in the garden will be rosy again????
I’d have the dungeon at CB (Holding Chambers). Maybe it is time to try to build a new partnership, with Nacho out and Kos in desperate need of a rest.
Could even go all out and try AMN in midfield with Jack? Feck it, worth a try at this stage. At least they will both work their arses off for the shirt.
The Dungeon… that’s gotta be one of the most creative names for a player combination I’ve ever heard.
Who thumbs down voted the Dungeon??? That player combination name is a work of genius!!! How very dare they. I’m now angrier than when I last heard that Donald trump was still breathing!!!
Xhaka needs to improve on his creativity and has to create more with his accurate long pass. He seems to put his handbrake on in chance creation and sometimes too much passing the ball back to the defenders which will invite unnecessary loss of posession and counter attacks which crystal palace has been very efficient at. He needs to be able to cope with pressure in midfield and create something on his own. I m one of Xhaka fan, but I think we need to see more of this part of his game because he has that in his left… Read more »
He has the most attempted and the highest successful long pass numbers in the league. People crucified him for being too wasteful and now you criticise him for being more conservative.
Regardless of what Xhaka does, it a symptom of out broken system that his best option is often a backwards pass.
I expect the usual shit show
Anything resembling a cohesive team is a bonus
Any other team would bat Crystal Palace to the side but I just can’t see this being an easy game.
you mean like chelsea did?
Cech, Bellerin, Holding, Chambers, Kolasinac, Wilshire, Coquelin, Xhaka, Ozil, Wellbeck, Lacazette
