It wasn’t the most exciting game but we got three things we haven’t seen in a while.
1 – An away win
2 – A clean sheet
3 – A penalty save.

Penalty!
Chech should get penalty tutorial from Ospina
Get a down vote for spelling Cech’s name wrong.
It’s four letters, mate.
You get a down vote, for down voting him
I think I would rather have that fraud Carlos Kaiser up front then Welbeck… Or any other footballer for that matter… Completely average!
Bendtneresque performance by Danny boy
TGSTEL used to score or at least hit the target. I bet if we played Matt Macey as the lone wolf up front, he’d probably perform better than Welbeck getting assisted by Ozil and Henrikh. It is like he already scored all the goals he could this season. Now he can walk off into the sunset, head held high.
Very surprised to see Xhaka dropped for Maitland-Biles. Hope this is signs for things to come from AMN!
Can’t tell if the “Biles” is a not-so-subtle-dig or just a fat finger. If so, shame on you slacker.
Well ‘B’ & ‘N’ are next to each other on a keyboard and he got the initials correct, besides when people routinely type on 5 inch wide virtual keyboards, never mind fat fingers, it’s the equivalent in scale to using a conventional keyboard with your elbows, in other words, I’d give ‘Mertslaker’ the benefit of the doubt.
Interesting breakdown. I’ve never seen such a thorough rebuke and detailed explanation of a mostly downvoted comment. Fine work, sir!
That was ‘like a training match’. First one to say it, but am sure not the last.
Ospina doing his chances of first team action no harm with that penalty save!
Čech did much more against Spurs to keep his place than Ospina today to gain it.
We should sub Ospina on when we give away penalties. I kid of course.. but maybe.
Well we could certainly sub him vs watford and westbrom those were very late penalties in the game maybe he would save one as we all knew even Peter that he wouldn’t save a penalty in million years.
Cech was woeful with the ball at his feet. His distribution was horrible, but he did make one impressive save (free kick I think?). The rest all hit him in the face or hands, so no great saves, just hit directly at him. We need a new keeper pronto.
His distribution is much better than Cech, he finds an Arsenal player and doesn’t kick the ball straight out either.
Well, that’s not true – at least not when it comes to this season. Čech’s distribution has actually been better than Ospina’s according to this:

Completely unrelated to us, but jesus, Ederson really is mental isn’t he? City aren’t under pressure enough for me to see how strong he is as a shot stopper, but gotta give the guy credit for the way he starts attacks/recycles possession. Not even Neuer’s that good.
Can’t really tell how he is on crosses/corners, either. But he’s just the keeper for Pep– quick to come out, good with his feet, amazingly accurate and quick passes to the wings (or the left wing, anyway). The similarity isn’t to Neuer, though; I think he plays a lot like Ospina and other South Americans.
Lloris comes across as the most balanced keeper according to this. But then it’s sky, and they are always yellow.
World in Motion is the company who did the research, not Sky.

On an England side not, Hart better not get called up to the England WC squad!!
Also hate to say it but Fabianski isn’t that bad a keeper, watched him a few times this season and he’s been pretty impressive.
But cech can kick it further than 25 yards…
This is the first team too. Oh, you mean the Premier League? But I still like how Wenger manages the careers of his keepers. He hasn’t always had the best ones, but he has managed to give game time to a number of keepers over the last few years, including ones who have gone on to win cups, including Ospina. I hope he can keep that run going.
Look at lukaz, haven’t done it precisely but on the curve he just edges Cech on overall quality.
Also how is matt pope so low in shot stopping?
This graph only takes 2 GK qualities into consideration (there are surely more than just shot-stopping & distribution). But Lukasz is surely a great goalkeeper.
MOTM: Ear-muffs
I personally feel a goalkeeper should get a 10/10 for a clean sheet no matter how little they had to do. Add a penalty save to that and the 10/10 becomes even more earned.
But 10/10 is a player playing at his very best. If a keeper makes a load of great saves and keeps a clean sheet, then 10 is merited.
If he stood watching because he had no saves to make, then that’s different.
Like…DeGea against Arsenal was 10/10…or more if possible…..
Yeah
Sead did what?!
Kolasinac came on Monreal? And existed in those moments? I’m very confused and scared here!
Poor Nacho.#yotambien for him as I`m sure he had no say in the matter when Sead got started. It was probably a power play to show who is really the dominant lb
😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 *dies roflmaoing*
Ratings are atrocious.
Then it will please you to know that I give you 3.2/10 for that comment

Not sure which challenge Blogs thinks should have been a yellow on Mustafi; the sliding tackle in the first half, on repeated replays, did not look like a foul (though I thought it should have been their throw, rather than ours). Maybe he’s thinking of something else.
5 for welbeck???????
Man how I miss the days of Chamakh and Gervinho. Welbeck is not even Championship level, in all seriousness.
I remember the day arsenal media gave me the chance to chat with Nacho via Skype. Won some contest and they chose someone who spoke my language. Has the chance to ask him about his addition to London and stuff… But they promised a signed shirt that never reached me :'(
Felt like a preseason match to be completely honest, but good win and Ospina dabbling in the dark arts of saving a penalty…
Welbeck is as useful in attack as the “ueue” in queue. He is just there, without any function.
Comment of the season
Genius goddamn comment. I had to show people at work.
Razznik for benevolent world dictator!
Brilliant! Very true! He is like the “yo” in you!
Dafuq ‘yo’? ? Czechmating your ownself, Cechmate…..mate?
OK. I’m done now. Hakuna MaTATA! ?
I think the bonus rating is a bit harsh… Definite 10/10 for me!
Welbeck is shit! Wonder what he’s stop doing at ArsenalFC
He.s still better than Theo..and we couldn.t sell them both
Probably couldn’t give both away, either.
We were playing a Swedish pub team and Welbeck still looked by far the worst outfield player on the pitch…
Feel as if we sent the wrong striker to Chelsea. On the other hand, watching AMN develop is encouraging, just hope his game doesn’t suddenly fall off a cliff as has been the case with some of the youngsters in the recent past.
Welbeck is a strong and fast athlete and probably a very nice guy. But he’s not a very good striker, pretty average technical skills and his movement in the box are pure disaster. A good striker moves to get the ball in a position that suits his skills, Welbz is just running around hoping on sheer luck. We better hope for a swift recovery of Lacazette. By the way, if Dortmund is beaten in this round, can Auba them play ?
I’m not sure what exactly the rule is (headline was enough for me on those articles) but considering we’ve already submitted a list of registered players and Aubameyang is presumably not on that list, I figure he can’t play.
Genuinely still baffled at how we sold Giroud and Walcott but kept Welbeck. I don’t want to be mean or anything but come on…
Because both of those can start for teams and Welbeck can’t given current range of play. He needs to up his game big time. Never in the right spot and this team was a perfect chance to bang some in.
Simple. No one was interested in buying him.
IF we had any planning or any forward thinking mentality, we would have done this clearout in the summer, sold welbeck too, brought in Auba and maybe retained lucas perez who is more of a pure striker (what we need) than a runner who fills in at the wings (what welbeck is).
‘Simple. No one was interested in buying him.’
Before people get carried away with tonight’s Ospina clean sheet remember this applies to him as much as Welbeck…..
Remind me, how many offers did Cech rebuff to stay back with us? A lot of our keepers suffer due to our defensive frailties – Lukasz & Scezny suffered too not just these two.
Remind me, did arsenal tell the world that Cech was available for sale & did Cech tell the world he was happy to go? No, so no comparison with the Ospina situation.
Lucas Perez did more in 3 months than welbz has in 3 years
I figure the theory “if you love them set them free” was used.
Do you understand how transfers work?
Monreal = Fox in the Box
Much more than Francis Jeffers
Danny Welbeck’s performance was very worrying…if we are to believe that laca is away for 6 weeks in wenger’s calendar thats usually means 12 weeks in regular time..
I am a huge supporter of Danny but he can’t put in a performance like that not especially against a team like Ostersund..
His body language just showed a guy who didn’t believe he would score..
I’m impressed.
Not with the performance but how precisely one can rate a player: https://pasteboard.co/H7OnJZwL.png
if Ozil 7 , Miki should 7 as well (for that 2 assists)
Rather boring match, especially early, looked like we were doing our best imitation of wind shield wipers going side to side. Good result though setting up a chance to give some others a run in the second leg.
We won 3-0 yet Mustafi was still shite. Can’t pass, is slow, charges in, gets turned easily, mistimes even the simplest of challenges..
When someone dislikes a player, or his performance, they must be able to see things that I can’t. You can think Mustafi is shite, you can think he mistimes challenges, etc. But you actually believe he is slow? As much pace as any centre back in the league, I would say.
3rd goal vs Swansea..He is slow/His rushing in disguises that fact
5 for Welbeck is absolutely generous. He was slow, clumsy, and cringeworthy every time he was near the ball. Very disappointed.
I dream of a world where we sent him to Chelsea rather than Giroud…
They would ask for their money back….
I like AMN but thought that was generous. Gave the ball away a number of times and was brushed of the ball continuously. Epic pace for one recovery tackle though
Not wanting to piss on Danny , but boy that was bad. He seems a good , hardworking lad with his head never going down; honestly don’t think though he’s cut out for this level. Being the worst player on a day where the opposition was league 2 at best is a right shocker. If he hadn’t come from the United academy, I’d bet he would be at some PL-Championship yo-yo club. Speaking out of disappointment as someone who believed he can improve and become a genuinely quality striker 3 years ago. This match is what breaks it for me
How the hell does Mustafi get a 5 when AMN lets someone through midfield and it results in a penalty committed by Bellerin. The bias is unbelievable. AMN did OK in midfield as did Elneny but this isn’t a PL quality team. Some people have to take their blinkers off for once. I thought in general we were OK. They were a bit overawed but grew into the game after the second goal. Against a better team we would have been punished for that midfield. There were moments we were open still. Nothing has changed and AMN had a mixed… Read more »
Score doesn’t reflect how boring this game was….and our players were treating this game lower than a training exercise at times. I know u should be happy with the win, but when you see teams like city play the way they do each game, don’t you think in games such as these you at least expect a high level of commitment from the players. Everyone was just there! And we won this game not because of our quality but the lack of that in our opposition. A good win, but atleast play as if the shirt means something to you… Read more »
Considering the climate and our away form, i feel it was a good performance.
Football should be entertaining and it should atleast look like the players are giving 100% is all I’m saying. That wasn’t the case yesterday. I understand that we can’t play beautiful free flowing football all the time against the likes of city as we are a level below them at the moment . But you can expect atleast that against a weaker side we give our all and dominate throughout. They were very very weak and we were really very lazy! That’s just my opinion however, if you feel the team’s performance was satisfactory good for you, enjoy.
Like.. seriously? Mhiki 6 and Iwobi 7? Why blogs, oh why?! Does he have Irish roots or something? He is a waste of space. Nowhere near Arsenal quality. Another game, another iwobi-like performance – not much offensive, dreadful defensive. He should be sold ASAP.
So true that Montreal comment.
Arsenal is one of the biggest clubbs in the world. HOW can danny shitbeck even be alowed inside the stadium?? Amazingly bad performance against Östersund.. i hope its a eye opener for Wenger. Welbeck shouldnt be let to go near a pitch. Just my opinion.
He was bad, but he is still a human being. No need for name calling.
true, but if you are an arsenalfan, then you need to judge them by their performances. Remember that this bloke earns more in one week than we do in a single year. Do you think welbeck would have been given chance after chance in lets say: city, Barcelona, Juventus etc etc. There is a reason why United sold him. If we want to be the best, then we cant accept half-ass performances. With that said, i love Welbeck because he got heart and seems to be a realy humble and caring kind of guy. but that doesnt realy matter when… Read more »
Kolasinac came on Monreal? I don’t remember that
It’s like Welbeck can’t think and run at the same time. If he is running he ends up losing the ball because he can’t think of what to do, and when he stops to think, he still loses the ball because the opponents obviously won’t wait for him.
Welbeck is the worst singing of the 21st century
No, that would be One Direction.
Horrible ratings. Did anyone notice Mkhi was central to all three goals? He was a solid seven at least. Same with Ozil since he scored a goal. AMN was a solid six but gets a pass for it being his first time in the midfield all season. Elneny was an eight, he moved the ball around masterfully all evening. Mustafi’s tackle was a thing of beauty, it’s wasn’t a yellow unless you’re blind. He earned a solid seven also. Chambers wasn’t as impressive and played himself into a corner a few times. He earned himself a solid six also. Iwobi… Read more »
